They bring as many pita chips as you like so just let them know when you run out . A little pricey but the food is tasty. I also tried the turkish coffee, I think I might try a cappuccino next time. Everything came out with a nice presentation and friendly service. What I noticed: alot of little flys and critters wanted to fight me for the food. I have not had this many visitors while eating in my 2 years of Tulum visits. Perhaps they know how good it taste but just be prepared or perhaps learn what times the flys take siesta. We will be back for falafel!!

Wow, what an experience! Taboo is a destination for dinner, a party, the beach, they have it all…read more We came for a large dinner party to celebrate a 40th birthday. The service was excellent- they were very enthusiastic and entertaining, bringing out countless celebratory shots and sparklers. Speaking of entertainment, there were fire dancers and a flutist and they insisted that we stand on our chairs to dance! I've never been to a restaurant like this before but I loved every minute. We were so distracted by the entertainment that we didn't realize how long it took for the food to arrive. The wait time was understandable due to our party size. I had the seafood spaghetti, which was just ok. I was expecting the sauce to be lighter and but it was a bit thick. It was well seasoned, maybe just a little too much salt. I still enjoyed it. The serving sizes were huge for most of the dishes and defining sharable but everyone had their own entree. I'd highly recommend this place for date night or a celebratory dinner. I'd love to come back and check out the beach club.

On our first day in Tulum we were wandering up the beach strip looking for a nice afternoon cocktail, and we didn't want to fight the hoards of beach fams at the hotel bars. Don't get me wrong, we are tourists and do not, by any stretch of the imagination, pretend otherwise-- but still, we wanted to get away from the mobs. Loyal Order isn't super well advertised from the street and you definitely might miss it if you do not know what you're looking for. You walk directly into the sand and up through the tropical trees and bushes that grow along the dunes. Small intimate tables and scattered through the premise. Everything is naturally beautiful. If you keep walking, you will come out to the beach and ocean (obviously...) and they have a few couches and spots set up closer to the water. The bar and kitchen itself melt away into teh sand and the brush. There was almost no one else there when we stopped by around 4:30pm et on a Sunday in March. We got two delicious cocktails- they were refreshing and beautiful. The prices were fairly high (around 10 USD). We didn't scoff at the high prices though because we were so in love with where we were. I would come back here any day of the week, month or year. I wish I was there right now.

We came to Beso with high hopes.... absolutely beautiful ambiance and the menu looked divine. My husband and parents and I went on a Tuesday night so it was very slow... we were one of two parties in the whole joint. The food was good! Not our favorite but definitely authentic and good. We all ordered drinks, an appetizer and main courses and dessert. When we first sat, they brought table bread that we didn't request but ate because, duh, so when it was gone they replenished it with a second basket as most restaurants do. We didn't even think that this could be anything but complimentary. After eating, we moved outside to the lounge area and the server brought over 4 unsolicited shots of brandy with cinnamon. I'm pregnant so thanked them for their generosity but sent it back. We figured since it was so slow the staff was bored and wanted to have some fun and send some drinks/get a bigger tip. My husband and I went home before my parents so weren't able to look over the bill. The next day we were told the tab was over $500 USD! I thought that sounded insane, it was good but not $500 USD good. They showed us the receipt and they charged for EVERYTHING that we didn't even ask for! The complimentary table bread, INCLUDING the refill, charged. The complimentary brandy shots that we never asked for or alluded to wanting, including the fourth that was sent back!!!!, charged!! It needs to be reiterated we never asked for any of these things and nowhere on the menu does it say anything about bread the cost of it. We went and looked at the menu the next morning because the entree prices looked more expensive on the receipt and sure enough, they had inflated the food prices as well. We would've really enjoyed this place but feel so taken advantage of. Yes: my parents could've said something but they don't know a lick of Spanish so how would they have argued a bill? They took advantage of a group of tourists they know they could pull one over on and it worked. I would've given 4 stars probably but this is unacceptable behavior in any restaurant in any part of the world.
This place has so much potential but if they don't address their food quality they won't be open…read morefor long. I'll break down the reason for my review. 1. Ambience: 4 Stars. It's not on the beach but it is gorgeous inside. The live music was great. The place settings were perfect. However we came on thanksgiving and it was completely empty. It's such a big space that it felt weird to be the only ones there especially with so many staff hanging around. This brings me to my next rating... 2. Staff: 5 Stars. If I could rate a restaurant on our waiter alone it would have 5 stars. I think his name was Daniel and he was perfect. He spoke great English and was very attentive. He also tried to steer us with honest advice about what to order. I only wish we'd listened to him. Great man! 3. Food: 1.5/5 Ugh. I'll start at the beginning. We order the mussels first. They were cooked well but lacked flavor and had barely any broth. They needed salt, bread and basically a makeover. Very underwhelming. 2.5/5. Next we had the belly taco which Daniel warned us not to get. TAKE THIS OFF THE MENU. We thought it would be pork belly, but it was rock hard fried pork intestines that tasted like burned moon rock. My bf spit it out. Gross! 0 Stars. Last we had fried avocado. It was good and the only thing resembling real food... but it's also a fried avocado so if you mess that up you honestly are just an idiot. 3 Stars. Total that comes to 3.5 stars, but since this was our special thanksgiving dinner and we ended up having to go to another restaurant just to have an edible dinner, I rounded down. Hope you guys can figure your stuff out as this place could be amazing.
