The Barn at the Covered Bridge

The Barn at the Covered Bridge

From planning and decorating to the final moments of the big day, my experience with Barn at the…read moreCovered Bridge was amazing! I loved the bridal suite! My girls and I felt pampered and relaxed in our separate and spacious area :) My wedding ceremony was supposed to be outside by the pond in the beautiful green pasture, bright white fences and the covered bridge in the background- I was so excited about it! Due to weather we had to move the ceremony inside the barn. The main 'barn' space was easy to transform from a structured ceremony space to a relaxed and open reception party. Michelle Cornell was an amazing wedding coordinator- organized and kept everything on schedule and I didn't have to worry about anything on my special day! Hal was an entertaining and engaging MC- we got so many comments from our guests about how beautiful and fun our event was!

The lush greenery and natural surroundings provide a tranquil and romantic setting that is perfect for exchanging vows and celebrating with loved ones. One of the standout features of this venue is the magnificent barn that has been transformed into a luxurious and chic space. The interior is beautifully designed with rustic wooden beams and elegant lighting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The barn has ample space to accommodate a large number of guests and offers a flexible layout to suit any wedding theme or style. In addition to the barn, the property offers numerous outdoor spaces to host different parts of the wedding day, such as a waterfront ceremony, cocktail hour on the expansive lawn, and dinner under the stars.

They absolutely ruined my husband's best-friend's wedding day. I'm submitting this review to caution anyone who is interested in booking the property for an event, to stay far away from this place. I attended a wedding here Saturday March 1st, 2025. By the time the ceremony started, the wedding hostesses were visibly exhausted. I asked why and they shared the owner walking around in Alpha Kappa Alpha paraphernalia was very rude and was not permitting them to be in necessary areas like the kitchen, because she was showing the property to potential clients. I've never seen a venue conduct tours during buyout hours. She was also not answering simple questions to help guide logistics. What was supposed to be a pretty easy job was made difficult by the venue owners (a wife and husband). It's common courtesy for venue staff to either dress in theme color(s) or branded attire for formal events. Her husband had on a dingy black sweatsuit. I thought he was a landscaper. After the ceremony concluded, during cocktail hour, the owners assumed guests were sneaking in alcohol. The alcohol they saw was a cigar and whiskey paring that was set up in the cocktail hour area. If there was an issue, there's professional way to address the wedding coordinator to have it removed. Instead the owners decided to drive around in a golf cart inspecting guests drinks. The cigar and whiskey parings were never removed from the cocktail hour area. Next, we'll move on to the sheriff being called twice. My husband and I spoke to the sheriff who works the area and confirmed the couple that owns the property calls the police often. To sum things up, a gentleman who was part of the wedding coordinator team didn't understand why the owners were being so difficult and he asked what was the root cause of the issue. He asked in an inquisitive manner to seek resolution and was non-confrontational. The owners didn't appreciate being questioned and proceeded to call the sheriffs to get him escorted out for "trespassing". Yes, an employee of the wedding coordinator team, the man who brought the bride to walk down the aisle was escorted out for trespassing along with the husband of the owner of the wedding coordination team. There were many other issues that I'll spare but the evening ended with the owner (wife) kicking the bride, groom, hostesses and us guests out, while we were breaking down supplies. One of the hostesses she had been absolutely ugly to all day finally told her about herself. It started with the owner asking about a standard black tablecloth at 8:45pm that was used during the 3pm ceremony. Because she couldn't answer to where it was almost immediately, she and her husband proceeded to throw decorations out of the reception hall damaging them and made everyone get out. It was an odd question considering the venue was booked until 11pm. I would have expected the owner to alert those cleaning up that a tablecloth was missing and if not found by the end time, the couple would be billed for it. Pretty standard protocol with venue rentals. Lastly, we learned this couple insisted their last payment for the venue be in cash and made a joke saying "because it's untraceable". As of the time the sheriffs arrived after the owners kicked us out, they had not provided an itemized receipt to the wedding couple for what the final payment was for. The amount was just under $13k. When asked, the woman owner said she had it in her papers somewhere and she would email it. The payment was provided 3 weeks prior. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

From the moment my wife and I arrived at Ivy Hall, we were struck by the beauty of the venue…read more However, that impression quickly turned into disappointment as we became aware of the distressing experiences faced by the bride, her coordinators, and the wedding party. This was a wedding attended by Mayors, doctors, lawyers, social media influencers, you name it, they were there. The hostesses, who are personal friends of mine, immediately informed me that the owners had been rude and uncooperative throughout the morning. Upon further inquiry, I learned that the mistreatment had begun the day before at the rehearsal, to the extent that the bride even considered canceling her wedding--an option she could not pursue due to the substantial cash payment of nearly $13,000 she had already made. Shockingly, she was not provided with a receipt for over three weeks, and not until police intervention was, she even provided with a picture of a receipt. Additionally, I find it highly concerning that the owner allegedly stated, "Cash is untraceable" and requested payment exclusively through cash or Cash App. This raises serious ethical and legal concerns regarding business practices and financial transparency. On the wedding day, the situation deteriorated further when the wedding party was denied access to areas of the venue that had been previously promised for their use. When one of the wedding coordinators attempted to seek clarification and ensure the bride had the best experience possible, the owners escalated the situation by calling the sheriff. Although the officers handled the situation professionally and without unnecessary disruption, it remains unclear why such extreme measures were taken. As a result, two coordinators were escorted off the property, creating difficulties for the clean-up crew. Following the reception, the female owner abruptly entered the venue and aggressively demanded to know the whereabouts of a black tablecloth. When one of the hostesses addressed her disrespectful attitude, the owners responded by demanding that everyone leave immediately. The bride, her wedding party and staff, remaining guests who stayed to help clean, were all forced to vacate the venue, and the remaining items could not be retrieved until the following day. Disturbingly, the owners and their daughter were heard shouting profanities at those present, further highlighting their blatant disregard for professionalism and customer service. This entire experience was appalling and completely unacceptable for a venue that claims to specialize in hosting one of the most important days of a couple's life. The actions of Ivy Hall's owners not only disrupted a special occasion but also demonstrated a shocking lack of professionalism, integrity, and basic hospitality. Furthermore, given the concerns regarding financial transactions and the lack of proper documentation, it may be necessary for regulatory authorities to review Ivy Hall's operations. For anyone considering Ivy Hall as their wedding venue, I strongly advise against it. No couple should have to endure the level of stress, disrespect, and disorganization that my friends faced on their wedding day. A venue should be a place of joy and celebration, not hostility and chaos. I could elaborate further on the numerous issues that arose at Ivy Hall that day, but I will conclude by stating this: If you are seeking a venue that lacks professionalism, treats its clients and their guests with disrespect, and operates with questionable business practices, then Ivy Hall is the place for you. However, if you want your special day to be marked by professionalism, hospitality, and cherished memories, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere--because Ivy Hall is not the venue that will provide that experience.
