Wow, what an absolutely hidden gem of an event venue located minutes from Greenville NC! This house…read morehas been lovingly renovated and restored over the years to showcase all of its historic beauty while being equipped with modern amenities for truly an ideal event setup. The house is beautiful, the grounds are well maintained, the parking is plentiful and the location is convenient to major highways despite it being set off the main road. Wanda, who owns/manages/runs the venue, was such a sweet host and genuinely wanted to make sure everyone was happy and everything went according to plan. I attended a bridal shower here that took place in the foyer/living room/dining area of Yankee Hall. The setup allowed for ample room to have an expansive buffet, a room dedicated to gifts and a sitting area, and plenty of room to mingle and socialize with guests in between. The area is centered by an absolutely beautiful twisting staircase that made for really pretty staged group photos. We were all amateurs with iPhones- I can't imagine some of the angles a true photographer could have captured in this home. We were graciously allowed to look around the ballroom which was just so ornate and glamorous- it truly was a grand ballroom. The painted ceiling, the columns, the light fixtures... every single aspect of this home is well thought out and simply beautiful. Off of the ballroom was a side porch with string lights offering a great outdoor area and access to the backyard with a gorgeous gazebo overlooking country views. The ballroom was set with tables, gold chairs, place settings and floral arrangements. It looked ready to host a wedding that night, but I believe it was a staged setting to inspire ideas for visitors viewing venue before booking. Yankee Hall was the perfect place for a wedding shower and I imagine it would be just as ideal for an engagement party, rehearsal dinner, birthday, anniversary, luncheon, family reunion, company dinner, etc. Honestly, I believe this place could host any type of event and do it well!

I'll start by saying the property is beautiful. Other than that, IVY Hall has 2 of the most…read moreincompetent and unprofessional owners that lack basic problem solving and communication skills. I'll add they are boastfully inconsiderate. They absolutely ruined my husband's best-friend's wedding day. I'm submitting this review to caution anyone who is interested in booking the property for an event, to stay far away from this place. I attended a wedding here Saturday March 1st, 2025. By the time the ceremony started, the wedding hostesses were visibly exhausted. I asked why and they shared the owner walking around in Alpha Kappa Alpha paraphernalia was very rude and was not permitting them to be in necessary areas like the kitchen, because she was showing the property to potential clients. I've never seen a venue conduct tours during buyout hours. She was also not answering simple questions to help guide logistics. What was supposed to be a pretty easy job was made difficult by the venue owners (a wife and husband). It's common courtesy for venue staff to either dress in theme color(s) or branded attire for formal events. Her husband had on a dingy black sweatsuit. I thought he was a landscaper. After the ceremony concluded, during cocktail hour, the owners assumed guests were sneaking in alcohol. The alcohol they saw was a cigar and whiskey paring that was set up in the cocktail hour area. If there was an issue, there's professional way to address the wedding coordinator to have it removed. Instead the owners decided to drive around in a golf cart inspecting guests drinks. The cigar and whiskey parings were never removed from the cocktail hour area. Next, we'll move on to the sheriff being called twice. My husband and I spoke to the sheriff who works the area and confirmed the couple that owns the property calls the police often. To sum things up, a gentleman who was part of the wedding coordinator team didn't understand why the owners were being so difficult and he asked what was the root cause of the issue. He asked in an inquisitive manner to seek resolution and was non-confrontational. The owners didn't appreciate being questioned and proceeded to call the sheriffs to get him escorted out for "trespassing". Yes, an employee of the wedding coordinator team, the man who brought the bride to walk down the aisle was escorted out for trespassing along with the husband of the owner of the wedding coordination team. There were many other issues that I'll spare but the evening ended with the owner (wife) kicking the bride, groom, hostesses and us guests out, while we were breaking down supplies. One of the hostesses she had been absolutely ugly to all day finally told her about herself. It started with the owner asking about a standard black tablecloth at 8:45pm that was used during the 3pm ceremony. Because she couldn't answer to where it was almost immediately, she and her husband proceeded to throw decorations out of the reception hall damaging them and made everyone get out. It was an odd question considering the venue was booked until 11pm. I would have expected the owner to alert those cleaning up that a tablecloth was missing and if not found by the end time, the couple would be billed for it. Pretty standard protocol with venue rentals. Lastly, we learned this couple insisted their last payment for the venue be in cash and made a joke saying "because it's untraceable". As of the time the sheriffs arrived after the owners kicked us out, they had not provided an itemized receipt to the wedding couple for what the final payment was for. The amount was just under $13k. When asked, the woman owner said she had it in her papers somewhere and she would email it. The payment was provided 3 weeks prior. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

I was in a pickle having a 7:15am breakfast in Farmville Tuesday after July 4th, AND a lunch in Kinston the same day. Boy, oh boy was I panicked about what to do about food for these folks. A co-worker told me I should get Robbie's to do the lunch at least. I called him Friday just before the holiday and was prepared to beg him to help. Not only did Robbie help, he then suggested to do the breakfast I had scheduled. He said he knew the doctors' offices and what they wanted and said to just tell him the time and he would take care of it. Seriously?? This had to be too good to be true. When I arrived in Farmville this morning, fully prepared to be there waiting on food, Robbie's catering was already in the parking lot. The breakfast was a huge hit: sausage, bacon, grits, cheese biscuits, fruit, and juice. They came in, set it up and said they'd see me at lunch. When lunch arrived in Kinston, the delivery was set-up and included fried chicken, pork bbq, potatoes, slaw, rolls, chocolate cake, sweet and unsweet tea. The office LOVED it!! My meetings at both offices went without a hitch. There was no one fumbling for napkins, ice, an extra plate, nor whatever else they could think of. It was ALL there! A first since I have had to use caterers in this business. I actually keep a stash of extras in my trunk because I always get stranded without something I need. Not this time!! :) I am giving Robbie's Catering 5 stars because any company that can allow me to do my job and not have to worry about catering, and also allows my clients to welcome me into their office because of the great food, deserves 5 great big shiney stars!!! The price was excellent as Robbie asked me what my budget was and prepared food accordingly. It was A LOT of food for the $. I will begin calling Robbie each week to prepare for the offices I am visiting the following week! Misssion accomplished!

Well, nothing has changed, except maybe it is better, although I am unsure how that is possible. Becky is truly one of the most gracious hostesses ever! Each room is just as welcoming and warm for your arrival. Your name awaits you on the door, and a piece of chocolate is calling your name from the nightstand beside the bed. Water, and other beverages are in the fridge in the foyer/hallway upstairs outside of the rooms, with any extra amenities you may want to use, such as when you forget your toothpaste, or if you want to use the iron, etc. We went in December so the house was so eloquently decorated for Christmas. Becky always accommodates any special needs or requests for breakfast, such as nut allergies and hubs and I being vegetarian since the last time I frequented the Moss House. Becky is also always equipped with local restaurant recommendations, as well as fun things to do in the area. A little extra thing that I love, The Moss House has it's own little soap in the bathroom. They leave you a little bag to take the soap that remains home with you, so (1), you are not wasting soap by leaving it and it getting thrown away, and (2) You can enjoy the herbal soap at home, because it truly smells amazing! We've now stayed in all of the rooms available and I truly love each room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in any of them as they are all wonderfully accommodating and cozy!

Washington is a sleepy town but very pretty and peaceful. The Moss House had pleasant large rooms with modern amenities and lots of old fashioned charm. The rooms were very comfortable and really inviting. But the reason I will be returning? The breakfast! Both mornings the breakfast was interesting and made wonderful use of the local produce. There was plenty of fruit and local vegetables and we both indulged our sweet tooths with the pastries and sweet rolls! A fabulous find in a sleepy little town!
