Needing a quick energy boost for my EQS, I noticed three available chargers on my car's infotainment at the Electrify America station in Alameda. So, I decided to head up there since I was already in Oakland having lunch, and it didn't take me long to get there on a busy Wednesday afternoon (between 2-3 pm). Although it took around 15 minutes to find an open spot due to others finishing up, it was worth the wait! Once plugged in, it went 0-80% in just 17 minutes at a whopping 102 kWh! The chargers could do up to 350kWh max. The station was clean and well-maintained, and the bonus of a Target with Starbucks next door made the wait enjoyable. This station shines for its speed and convenience compared to other East Bay options. UNSAFE!!!!!! No organization, no marked lines, total chaos. Have been in several situations at EA where "line cutters" started fights with others; mosts recently an incident escalated into someone pulling out a gun. I believe your company has a responsibility to implement basic safety and organizational measures at your stations. I strongly urge you to: Employ attendants to oversee operations at busy stations Install security cameras and post clear signage indicating the area is under surveillance Add visible signage and permanent cones or markings to designate the correct waiting queue Customers should not have to risk their safety to access the services your company provides--especially when these stations are located in high-traffic areas without adequate oversight. I hope you will take this issue seriously and prioritize customer safety by making the necessary changes as soon as possible. read more

On Jun 3, 2025, i needed a charge while in Dublin, CA. Have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 with 24 months of charging at Electrify America stations listed on the APP. Opened the Electrify app and it showed my that 9/10 stations at Costco at the corner of 680/580 were available. Went to Costco and connected the charger and charged up. After all was done, i left as usual. Later at home i saw that i was charged $14.57. I called Electrify and they looked up the account and said that they had discontinued the partnership with Costco on Jun 2, 2025. So i asked why did the APP send me to a location that was not part of my charging plan. They said that i should have seen somewhere on the display if i am going to get free service or i will be charged. If i am going to be charged then why did it not ask for my credit card. Now Electrify also says that they will not reimburse me for this. My question is, why are you sending me to a station that is going to charge me without informing me on the APP. Fast charging but it comes at an extra price. Very convenient location near Target and a BBQ restaurant that I am no stranger to. The norm with electric vehicle charging stations is to put them in places where people spend time anyway. Some gas stations are putting them in - I suppose to wow city council members - but they aren't utilized much at all - in some reports I read - only 1.5 people a day. This charging station - I had some trouble getting certain chargers to work. I then utilized the one somebody else had just been using and things worked immediately. Not sure if it was me or the charger - but... probably something to do with the payment? Very fast charging. No denying that. Its so much faster than at home - and there are different levels - the commercial ones I don't know how much it would cost to get installed. Electric is the future - Tesla seems to have the best charging network - and something came out that they would be available to non Tesla owners soon? Electrify America chargers are to Volkswagen, as Tesla Chargers are to Tesla. Volkswagen, another dishonest company, was compelled to create Electrify America when faced by an international legal settlement with the U.S. government following the emissions fraud case of 2016. Volkswagen owners typically charge at Electrify America for free. And none complain, that I've heard, of the very expensive charging rates. (Their "reward" for throttling us is to get our money). Does Volkswagen care? Why should they? They duped US citizens with the fraud case. Then they capitalized on the fines and supposed punishment. Take a good look. An outside firm is making money off of us. They are apparently being allowed to permanently embed themselves in our energy framework. They do not want free electricity for US citizens. If you don't have a Volkswagen Electrify America Debit Card to use banks of their chargers at no additional cost while you charge-up here, you've been tricked. In 2022 only about 600 banks of their charging stations were up and running. It appears that number has drastically increased while the media keeps telling you the electrical grid in America can't accommodate the demand. The oil companies want out. They need to flip to electricity storage instead. They are changing their brands to escape the cleanup liability. Let's not let them off the hook this time. If they get their way, you will have to pay for a subscription to turn on your heated seats, or open your recharging port on your EV. read more

I've been a customer of this company for 4 years. The company is price gauging people with electric cars!! I recently charged my car only 50 percent and that's only 158 miles. It was $32 . I finally decided after 4 years I needed to sell my EV. Usually when I went to the charging stations in my neighborhood there was a line and at least one station was always broken. If you don't have your own home charger forget it. Now I realized I have a balance /credit of $11.37 and I've spoken with 2 customer service representatives today and they said they don't know when I will get my $11.37 back. I paid my $32 for the charging weeks ago but they also charge a future charge for some type of deposit. I have never used a service like this before. Being at the mercy of a company like this to charge my car plus the obvious price gauging is 90 percent of the reason I sold my vehicle. This is just so wrong on so many levels. If you're thinking of buying an EV don't!! Save yourself from having to depend on a company like Electrify America. This whole experience was exhausting and obviously they are taking advantage of people that wanted to use an EV. $32 to get 160 miles on my mik is unacceptable and then charge me for future charging or a deposit for whatever they want is wrong. Shame on these type of companies. Then to be told they don't process the return their service team does and they have to review it. The fact is they should never have charged a future charge or be price gauging their customers. Poor Service at Chargers and on 833-helpline 110123-02 and -03 chargers at Grovetown, GA do not deliver reliably what is promised. Just to reiterate none of the factors listed apply on why the charge is not being delivered reliably - so this review takes those factors in account by giving Electrify America credit for it. Calling customer service goes through the same motions every time - "reboot" the chargers and the status does not change. One loses a precious commodity called "time" in making such calls. This one time (7/26/25 @ 0444 hours), I called Electrify America letting them know that the charger -03 was not working close to normal (delivering 115-120kW sustained from a 350kW charger) and that they should get this charger looked at. She said that she did not see anything wrong on her end and quoted me the standard factors of why this could be happening and blamed my vehicle for it. She then asked me to "reboot" and I refused because it was going to cost me another 10 minutes of downtime and I had just switched from charger -02 which was absolutely not working normal. I pointed this to her and said look at the 2-minute profile of charging on -02 that happened just before I switched to -03. I said hyperfast chargers do not come down on charging speeds to 27 kW ever after just 2 minutes of erratic delivery. She said that she did not see anything wrong with that either. read more

I just bought an EV last week and have not yet installed a charger at home. I was below 20% charge so figured I'd find a charging station near a restaurant, get a bite and a charge. I went to an Electrify America station in Marlborough, Mass., hooked up, went inside for a pretty quick meal (less than an hour), and came out to find the car had only charged to 33%. For some reason, it stopped after about 7 minutes. On top of not fully charging my vehicle, Electrify America whacked me with $19.60 in idle charges - because their charger had inexplicably stopped, my car was at their station, not charging, past their 10-minute grace period. I was under the impression I'd get a text with charging status and had my phone at the ready. No such text came until after I disconnected. So, how was I to know there was a problem? The next day, I talked to two different customer service agents, including a supervisor, for a total of 40 minutes. They both refused to refund the $19.60. Then I sent an email with my story and got the same refusal. After two more emails back-and-forth, to make sure they understood exactly what had happened - they still refused. I told them that was a pretty bad business decision, making a stand over less than $20 for a guy who literally just bought an EV. So now here I am telling anyone who will listen: don't go to an Electrify America station if you can possibly avoid it. It's just a lousy business. Give your money to someone who actually cares about their customers. read more

Probably the worst customer service ever. I was accidentally charged for a session a few weeks ago, while I was still under the free plan. I called customer service from the charging station. Like most companies, you only seem to get foreign agents when you call. This, in and of itself, isn't bad, but it is when they can't understand you, and you can't understand them. The female agent basically repeated everything I said and told me that I would not be reimbursed. No reason why, she just said that I wouldn't be reimbursed. I opened a ticket with them and explained the situation. The agent kept leaving me on hold repeatedly to "get more instructions". Each time she came back with the same answer, worded the exact same way. She finally told me that she would "escalate" my ticket. A week goes by with no response from Electrify America. I finally call and get another foreign agent. This one also makes the same claim, that I removed myself from the plan, so no refund. Why would I remove myself from a free plan? I would imagine most places have a way to audit their systems to find out access to things like that. I told her that somewhere in IT there had to be someone who had knowledge of things like that. She had no response. Like the other one, she kept repeating the same spiel. I'm definitely of the opinion that these people read from a script of some sort. This lasted almost 30 minutes. I mentioned that I opened a ticket a week ago and hadn't seen as much as an email in response. She kept repeating the same nonsense about me changing the plan. Finally, I cut her off, gave her the ticket number, and asked her if she could please see if there were any notes. She put me on hold, came back, said she had looked up the ticket, and repeated the exact same line that she had stated before. I just hung up. I was too exhausted to maintain that nonsense any longer. So, I'm bilked out of money for a charge that I thought was free, and I'm completely sour on whatever customer service Electrify America has or will have. I understand that outsourcing is cheaper, but when there's no response to the customer regarding their ticket, and when every agent insists on repeating a bunch of scripted gibberish, then it's time for me to move on. I would rather pay for slower charging than have to deal with that madness again. I would not recommend them at all. read more

1. Poor performance at charging stations. Too often too crowded or one or multiple chargers are down. Wait times are too long. Makes people angry about the whole charging experience. 2. Poor customer service response. Charged my credit card without permission when using the app. Supposed to charge my free Genesis charging plan when I selected it on the app and instead charged my credit card. If I could give Electrify America a zero I would. This is by far the worst company I have ever worked with. Thanks so much Hyundai for giving this out as your free charging, it's just a gigantic headache. First of all the 30 minute time limit is ridiculous. There is one station near me that claims it charges "up to 350 kW". Most times it charges at 100 kW until it hits 80% then it's at 40 kW. It's clearly a scam and the reason that they only give you the 30 minutes is because they know there is no way in hell your car is going to be even remotely charged after 30 minutes. Hyundai needs to seriously rethink hooking up with this company. Not to mention there are almost no chargers in the Phoenix area. My husband drives up the 101, there isn't a single charger up the entire 101 (that's nuts). There are SEVEN in Phoenix (and only 4 of those are "fast" chargers; meaning supposedly charging up to 350kw which NONE of them are doing)!! Then when you call to let them know their chargers are charging really slow, all they do is give you excuses why that's happening and tell you that their chargers are working fine, it must be your car. Most of the time when I go to charge at least one of the chargers is down. I don't know how this company stays in business. read more

I have attempted to charge at many EA locations over the last two years as my vehicles come with 2 years free charging. EA is ALWAYS a nightmare. Half the chargers are down, but you can't tell unless you call in. The ones that work NEVER perform at the rated level. And it always requires 30+ minutes on the phone to get the damn things to work, once you move your car to one that's not down, and half the time you have to pay with a cc and then go thru a cumbersome reimbursement procedure because it's supposed to be free! I drove round trip from St Louis to Cincinnati this weekend. There are three cities with EA chargers in between, at least one of which I have to hit to go one way. Chargers were down in Effingham so I charged all the way up in Terre Haute and made the rest of the trip, almost running out of charge. On the return stopped in Indy, but the chargers were unavailable because of construction in the parking lot. Made it to a Chargepoint charger and got enough charge to hit Terre Haute again. Except THIS TIME none of the card readers were working, and even after paying through the app I couldn't charge. After 1/2 hour on the phone with CS I was finally able to start charging, which they comped. So 0/3 across Indiana. Also, I know it's standard but only having the option to put a $50 hold on a card for electricity or buying $10 chunks on the app is a terrible way to treat customers. I guess thanks to EA I just won't make this drive anymore. read more

Electrify America is the worst EV charging company there is. There chargers say 150KW or 350KW but they only charge at 88KW! What is the point fast charging at 88KW. On top of that their chargers error out 15 minutes into a 30 minute Premium charge charge plans and when you reconnect the car to charge for another 15 minutes they email you with TOS violations and eventually revoke the plan before its intended expiration and then they do not want to work with the customer to understand the situation. Guess what Electrify America instead of paying exorbitant amount of .56cents or $1.67 in some areas per KWh I would rather charge at home overnight. As of May 6, 2024, I'm still waiting to receive an email or a call from their 'escalation department,' which I personally doubt even exists. Beware this company, because they will charge your card without your permission. The charging station will show there to be 0 amount charged (if you are using the two year "free" charging plan), only to find out later that it in fact charged your credit card. The charging stations are often inoperable, unreliable and charge at a much lower rate than advertised. When speaking with customer service, the operators are not helpful and are difficult to work with. I'm relieved there are other charging options for my EV. read more

This is not a bad location to put chargers. However, they're just never up and running to full capacity. I would say 80% of the time that I show up to get a charge the scenario is there are two chargers that are up and running. The two chargers that are up and running are both in use and one of the chargers is only charging @ 30 kWh. Calling electrify America the people on the other end are nice, but there's not much they can do but try and remote reset the machine and if it's not working, it's just not working. So they'll schedule a service, who knows how long that takes because every time I come back the same machines are broken. One of the machines here has literally been acting as if it's had someone on the charge for a month Charger number 03. But low and behold today I showed up and there is a technician working on charger number 01. I'll be back tomorrow to see if any of them are up and running. There is a lot higher demand on these chargers for Electrify America, and it feels like not enough attention and Care to the machines. I would like electrify America to install another set of chargers on the Alameda Island for the East End or Bay Farm Island. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would !! Chargers are online more often than not. They also don't have simultaneous charging so even if a charger is working, only 1 car can charge at a time. We suffered through it for 2 years only because we got free charging when we leased our Polestar. Now that the free period is over, I canceled the subscription and switched to EvGo. Significantly more availability and more importantly much better reliabilit. read more

I was over charged at a station, and called the company for a refund. They told me I was wrong and I had to live with the amount they charged me. I told them even the amount at 48 cents a kilo watt was wrong and the guy said they will charge me what they think I owe them. Don't ever use this charger unless you like being ripped off. They tell you you've use more Kw's than it says on the screen and will charge you more than the already over priced 48 cents a Kw for what you've already used. This is for the 4 chargers at 805 Main St. East Hartford CT- (Bank of America) Everytime I go there to charge there is at least 1 charger Not working- If the chargers are working they charge SO SLOW- They charge SO Slow that Uber Drivers "Camp Out" there for Hours trying to get a Full Charge, and because of that, I have waited for over an hour many times- I've seen the chargers charging at 7 & 15 and 22 at times----- Why only put 4 chargers in when these are right near Hartford CT, where the highways I84 and I91 meet- Did Electrify America think about all the traffic that would be there? Put in 16 chargers, because eventually you will, so why not now, and this would cause So Many Less Problems at these charging stations---------- There is Always a Problem and these charging stations- And why put the chargers right where the entrance and exit is to Bank Of America causing people to Criss-Cross each other as people are trying to get to the bank and people trying to charge and people Waiting to charge- Put the chargers out of the way- They don't need to be right on top of the parking for the business there which is a busy bank- read more

The stations are not repaired in a timely manner. The chargers often break and it takes them a very long time for them to be serviced and repaired. This particular station has been running on one charger and a half (one of them only has one adapter working and running at reduced speed) for more than 2.5 weeks.
