Needing a quick energy boost for my EQS, I noticed three available chargers on my car's infotainment at the Electrify America station in Alameda. So, I decided to head up there since I was already in Oakland having lunch, and it didn't take me long to get there on a busy Wednesday afternoon (between 2-3 pm). Although it took around 15 minutes to find an open spot due to others finishing up, it was worth the wait! Once plugged in, it went 0-80% in just 17 minutes at a whopping 102 kWh! The chargers could do up to 350kWh max. The station was clean and well-maintained, and the bonus of a Target with Starbucks next door made the wait enjoyable. This station shines for its speed and convenience compared to other East Bay options. Whether you need a quick top-up or a full charge while tackling errands, Electrify America Alameda is a winner.

Fast charging but it comes at an extra price. Very convenient location near Target and a BBQ restaurant that I am no stranger to. The norm with electric vehicle charging stations is to put them in places where people spend time anyway. Some gas stations are putting them in - I suppose to wow city council members - but they aren't utilized much at all - in some reports I read - only 1.5 people a day. This charging station - I had some trouble getting certain chargers to work. I then utilized the one somebody else had just been using and things worked immediately. Not sure if it was me or the charger - but... probably something to do with the payment? Very fast charging. No denying that. Its so much faster than at home - and there are different levels - the commercial ones I don't know how much it would cost to get installed. Electric is the future - Tesla seems to have the best charging network - and something came out that they would be available to non Tesla owners soon? I've been to so many different random charging stations now - some uniformity in the charging industry might would be appreciated.

    Probably over ten 150kW terminals

Electrify America chargers are to Volkswagen, as Tesla Chargers are to Tesla. Volkswagen, another dishonest company, was compelled to create Electrify America when faced by an international legal settlement with the U.S. government following the emissions fraud case of 2016. Volkswagen owners typically charge at Electrify America for free. And none complain, that I've heard, of the very expensive charging rates. (Their "reward" for throttling us is to get our money). Does Volkswagen care? Why should they? They duped US citizens with the fraud case. Then they capitalized on the fines and supposed punishment. Take a good look. An outside firm is making money off of us. They are apparently being allowed to permanently embed themselves in our energy framework. They do not want free electricity for US citizens. If you don't have a Volkswagen Electrify America Debit Card to use banks of their chargers at no additional cost while you charge-up here, you've been tricked. In 2022 only about 600 banks of their charging stations were up and running. It appears that number has drastically increased while the media keeps telling you the electrical grid in America can't accommodate the demand. The oil companies want out. They need to flip to electricity storage instead. They are changing their brands to escape the cleanup liability. Let's not let them off the hook this time. If they get their way, you will have to pay for a subscription to turn on your heated seats, or open your recharging port on your EV.

Sucks! Only 1 station kind of working. Big line of waiting cars. Same problems as Richmond. Electric cars need fast charging people!

EV Charger Expert proposed installing a smart plug that would monitor demand, and should demand overtax the existing service, throttle back demand from the car charger. That cost $1550 plus a $600 smart plug. The work was done quickly and it worked for Night One. I'm happy.

Overall, the job was completed successfully, passed inspection, and avoided a costly panel upgrade. But there were also a few areas where the process could have been handled more proactively. What I appreciated: * Technical expertise & cost savings: My service panel is limited (90A), and other contractors immediately suggested an expensive underground service upgrade. Kirill performed load calculation and recommended using an Emporia Pro charger with dynamic load management. That solution allowed me to safely add both the EV charging outlet and the microwave circuit without upgrading the service panel. * Permits & documentation: They provided the required licensing, insurance documentation and handled the city permitting and inspection process. The final inspection passed without issue. * Responsiveness: Communication was generally clear via email regarding quotes, scheduling, and permit updates. Where I believe the process could improve: We encountered a major obstacle when it was discovered that the crawl space was blocked by a concrete foundation wall, preventing wire routing as originally planned. Initially, there wasn't a clear alternative proposed. I ended up suggesting routing the wiring through the ceiling instead. While the team evaluated and successfully implemented that solution, I would have preferred if alternative routing strategies had been proactively identified earlier in the process. I also want to acknowledge Erin's craftsmanship. When we ultimately routed the wiring through the ceiling, he carefully navigated around existing plumbing lines and made precise cuts to minimize disruption. The finish work was clean and well executed. In the end, the installation works well, passed inspection, and achieved the primary goal of adding EV charging without a major panel upgrade. I would recommend them for homeowners with limited electrical capacity, especially if dynamic load management is needed.

The female worker at the cashier wanted to get her family in (they were right in front of us) and lied to the rest of the line that was in the building already they it would be fine. Her family was the only family that was allowed to take professional photos with Santa before security came to cut the line off. Nepotism at its finest despite the fact it was already 4p. Common sense and common courtesy was lacking in Christmas spirit today. Luckily, Santa had the Xmas spirit and took selfies with the rest of us in line (the long line outside, I'm not so sure). The employees need to be trained in managing the line better and cutting it off before people stand in line for over an hour. Thanks, Santa! Next year they should have two monitors - one to take the photos and the other so people can select. Then all the employees can be doing something useful at all times to keep the line moving along. Otherwise, it was the same person - the photographer taking the photos, helping choose the photos, explaining the packages, etc. Super inefficient when there is a line - you could tell they weren't used to it.

The last two times I visited here I was at 3% - its not fun. They put this snail or turtle on the dash - and you get this message - something like - you don't have as much power. I once tried to merge onto the highway with this snail on the dash and my little rocket had less power than a 1984 240d - and if your not sure what that is - only thoughts and prayers can get you up to speed in those. Great for IG photos and for looking at on the driveway - but not that pleasant of a daily. I like the Raley's grocery store and there is a coffee shop inside that overlooks the little moat beteween Alameda and Oakland - its a fine place to hang for 45 minutes while it charges - that is if it worked. The last two times the broken charger was of course open and the other working one taken. I think there are only two chargers. Some can charge two cars at one time but I don't think these.... I'm not exactly sure though since it was down each time I went. There was a sign on the broken EV charger. Read something like they knew that it was down and they were fixing it. There are so many private EV chargers on the map - and when you are low with range anxiety and the snail its not a good place to be. That night I ended up going home and getting 15% over night - something that could be done here in 6 minutes if it worked. That 15% did get me the next day to a working charger a bit more away in the Alameda landing shopping center.
