I was in North Carolina on a trip. My car started making a strange noise and I was concerned…read morebecause we had to travel back up the mountain, through winding roads, to get back to where I was staying. I was upset and stopped at a convenience store and asked the ladies at the counter if they could recommend a shop. Thank goodness I was across the highway from Hometown Auto. The ladies said Ken was a great mechanic and very trust worthy. I found myself on the wrong road and saw some people walking, I asked them how to get to the shop and if they knew anything about it. They all said he was a great guy and showed me how to get there from the access road. Once I arrived I asked a mechanic if he could look at my car and he was happy to help as soon as he could. Ken, the owner came out and was more than happy to take a look at my car. It was a Friday afternoon and I'm sure they were about an hour from closing. They looked at my car, checked the wheels, brakes, rotors, etc. where the sound was coming form and could see no missing items or damage. He took my car to drive it and he definitely heard the sound but was sure that the car was okay and sent me on my way with confidence I would make it up the mountain safely. I did make it back to where I was staying with no problem and then drove 600 miles home the next day. I don't have any idea what was making the noise,it stopped! I think it was overheated brakes from driving down the mountain. I cannot thank them enough for their help. The shop is at an old farmhouse with a view of a barn and beautiful mountains. We sat on the porch in rocking chairs while we waited. It was the most enjoyable wait at a auto shop I've ever had. lol
