The activities Deb's Place provides keeps them engaged and happy. My youngest just had his kindergarten evaluation to attend school this fall. He scored extremely high in all areas. I learned he's reading at a level that is expected midway through the year. Thank you Deb's Place for the love, structure, education, and needed discipline you've provided our boys throughout these years!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE WOMAN!…read more If I could contact every parent of the unfortunate children I saw the other day, I would. I felt so badly for them. I was at the library in Eldersburg on Thursday, October 13th, 2016 with my toddler and I saw a line of about 5 or six preschool aged boys walk in wearing green t-shirts with the "Deb's Place" logo on them. They were accompanied by two women, one elderly with short curly hair, and the other with a mullet, wearing a t-shirt that read "Ms. Deb". I assume she is the proprietor of this preschool/daycare. The behavior of this woman toward the children was shocking. While the boys were behaving like perfect little gentlemen, walking in a straight line into the play area of the library, "Ms. Deb" was snapping at them and chewing them out right and left for every little thing. (I won't put the kid's names in) "C-(boy's name)! Get your butt back in line!" ... "(boy's name)! Stop playing with toys and pick out three books! Right now!" ... *To a boy sitting quietly with the group reading a book* "Get up (boy's name)! Go get another book! You only have two! You need three books! Go get the book now!" ... *To another boy sitting on a chair* "Get up and get over here with the others now!"... *To a boy trying to play with a train set* "We are NOT playing with that train! We are not here to play with toys! Pick out your books and sit down!" Mind you - she was yelling and snapping at the boys the WHOLE TIME. Not a single word out of her mouth was gentle or kind. Not a single boy made one move that was in any way worthy of this kind of treatment. They were quiet, obedient, and moreover, they were SCARED of this woman! They looked up all frightened every time she snapped at one of them. I was furious to watch this. I don't know how "Ms. Deb" behaves when these kids' parents are watching, but I'll bet my life it isn't the way she acts when they aren't around. I wish I had a video recorder so I could post it on the web. PLEASE PLEASE - if you know someone who has kids enrolled with her service, let them know about this. I HATE to see kids treated this way and I'm sure if the parents saw this, they would pull their kids out of her care and shut her down. I would.

The staff and student teachers genuinely care about the children and their learning. They work hard to bring in outside speakers and programs and our favorite extra curricular is the spring pajama party! In the past 2 years I have seen my anxious 3 year old who SCREAMED when she was dropped off turn into this amazing 5 year old who loves every second she gets to spend in the classroom. We so appreciate all that the Carroll Community Child Development Center has done for and with our child over the past 2 school years! I'm not sure how this time flew by so fast, but it did! Our child has nothing but amazing stories of her school days and we so appreciate each and every person who played a role in preparing her for kindergarten.

The Littlest Learners Child Development Center at Carroll Community College is dedicated to providing an intellectually stimulating environment that engages the children we serve. Our philosophy is one that supports each child's emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development while at our Center. We strive to teach the importance of exploration as well as the importance of play as a means to integrate math, science, language, literacy, music, art, and essential motor activities. Emphasis is placed on each child's individual learning style by an active, hands-on process that aids in the development of problem-solving and thinking skills. The Center follows the same Pre-kindergarten MSDE-accredited curriculum set forth by the state of Maryland. In addition, other theories/curriculum enhance the program. Students who complete the program are ready for kindergarten. The Center exceeds the state recommended child-to-teacher-ratio.

We had our kids attend Toddler University Preschool, LLC for about 5 years. The director/owner is friendly and kind offering a preschool with love and passion like no other! Everything you would want to hear, even offering extra curricular activities like yoga, karate, animal experiences, zumbini, and a big firehouse graduation! My kids had the time of their lives. Creating friendships that last a lifetime. Friendships. Not just between the kids also between the parents. We have met a multitude of people in this business. Where you can message another parent and feel like you have known them your whole life. But something changed. Communication and my kid had meltdowns at drop off, but everything was "fine" when I ask how my child was during the day. But clearly my child did not think so. Being almost the oldest family attending and loyalty means nothing to a small business like this. Receiving a 30 day notice with no explanation (contract says no explanation can be given) other than "personal reasons" came to a shock. I was told to keep personal life and business separate and not let them mix. Payments we made rearly, participated school events, accepting of any changes to policies. There were no issues there. Once I received the 30 day notification (by text), at drop off/pick up I wasn't greeted by the owner anymore. I was greeted by the assistant teachers. I had questions and needed clarification, but I was told not to bring this topic up to her or the assistants (needed to relay messages and was not physically present) and not to reach out to other families because it wasn't "my place." As a mother it is my right to know what is happening with my child in someone else's care and why is it only happening to my child. When you think you know somebody better than your family, it's like getting stabbed in the back with a dagger. It hurts, but time will pass and will heal. After experiencing this. I would highly not recommend Toddler University Preschool, LLC. I don't want anyone experiencing rejection from a caregiver to your child with no explanation of any sorts, regardless of loyalty.

She has made great progress in learning how different things work, cultures throughout the world, fine motor skills, interacting with others, gardening, and science. The montessori method has really worked for her education. Every few weeks the school focuses on a different continent. While learning about Africa, the students made African food, learned about African music, and the animals that are indiginous to Africa. Every day my daughter was excited to tell me something new about Africa. Now she knows all of her continents at the age of 3 which blows my mind. In addition to Ms. Gretchens great curriculum, there's a lot of learning about nature and outdoor play time. Ms. Gretchen has an excellent garden where the kids have planted tomatoes, eggplants, squash, basil, potatoes, sunflowers, and onions and the list keeps going on. Ms. Gretchen has a policy of following what the kids wnat to do and not forcing them to do and letting them learn as they go. First thing when my daughter arrives she usually wants to go play on the swing or look at the flowers or play on the jungle gym to which Ms. Gretchen always says, "Yes". I really cannot say what a wonderful experience it has been for my daughter to attend pre-school at Ms. Gretchens'. There is no doubt in my mind about what a nurturing environment my daughter is in.
