I'm detailing my situation as Dr Callewart and his PA Joe not only saved me from pending paralysis due to Cauda Equina that was missed by several other providers, but also went to great lengths to comfort me during a time of great duress (even ensuring my post-operative medications were breastfeeding-friendly!) Immediately following surgery, Dr Callewart took the time to call my deployed husband to ensure him all went well and to thank him for his service- THAT is going above and beyond! I need not mention his level of skill and expertise as I am 2.5 months post-operative and walking freely as before! The lady at the front desk was so kind and the NP (Cindalee) quickly addressed what was wrong and got me what I needed to feel better. My problem lies with the nurse (Amberly)....she kept shaking her head, swung the door open so hard to have me come back like she was a 2 year old having a temper tantrum. And then swabbed my throat with vengeance. I've never in my life seen anything like it. Because of that, I'd never go back. For the record, I was in and out in less than 30 mins.

Update: The office sent me the refund over my debit card on…read morethe last possible day it could be refunded without going against Texas law. However, their office did not notify me that they did so or update me in any way, despite knowing I was waiting for the funds. The refund didn't show up in my account until a few days later due to bank process, so I didn't see the refund on the day they processed it. This is just another example of their poor communication and mismanagement. The replies I've received on my honest reviews are claiming I've made false statements but I have documented all of the conversations and have all of the email responses. They're also calling me out for posting my review on multiple platforms, which I have every right to do. A professional and appropriate response would have been an apology for making the mistake in the first place. Original Review: I wanted to love Sharma Foot and Ankle as much as other reviewers. The visit itself was fine--short wait, pleasant staff, friendly doctor. The one-star issue is with payment and insurance, which remains unresolved more than a month later. They still owe me an $80 refund. I'm insured through UH, clearly shown on my card. Every other doctor's office has verified it without a problem. This office claimed another insurer "came up in their system" and charged me out-of-network despite being in-network. I confirmed the error with my insurance and sent the proof--three times--through their patient portal and email. Each time, they said it wasn't enough. Eventually, they admitted the mistake but refused to refund me until they were paid by insurance. Insurance payment posted; they still refused. They later claimed they were "on vacation" and still didn't process it. After I sent proof they now had both my payment and the insurance payment, they finally agreed to a refund--but only by mailing a check because they "don't know how" to refund to a debit card. As of this writing, no refund and no apology. I've filed a grievance with my insurance company, informed the doctor they are violating Texas' 30-day refund law (even after I gave them extra time), and still nothing. This is all over $80--not much in the grand scheme, and certainly not to the "most recommended" podiatrist in the area. But it's the principle, and I'm pursuing every option so this doesn't happen to someone else.
