Do not go to this doctor. Or this hospital. Dr. Chang blatantly threatened my life had I allowed her to do surgery on me. My daughter was a witness and this organization has done NOTHING but lie and cover themselves. She is arrognant, and dehumanized me and my daughter. She silenced us when we had questions- told us to table them. Per my 16 year old daughter - she had never been so emotionally violated by a healthcare provider. VMFH has to answer for what she almost did - which was end my life on surgery. And then cover it up with lies by not documenting what they were told. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS DOCTOR!!! read more

Highly recommend, although I haven't actually met Dr. Chang but her staff is wonderful and very helpful. I've been here a few times for yearly checkups and seen the nurse practitioners and all were wonderful. Was in here recently for an appt and again was very pleased with how friendly everyone is. read more

To many women pap smears evoke fear and all sorts of imaginable horrors. To the stir-ups to the cold harsh ducklips to a head in-between your legs (not in the pleasurable way) a trip to the gynecologists office is a necessary evil. But these all seem so easy to bear with a great doctor which I have been lucky enough to find. Dr. Chang is the coolest lady. If I knew her under different circumstances I would totally love to hang out with her and gossip. She is just that kind of woman. I don't dread my yearly exam because Dr. Chang makes it so easy. She remembers everything you tell her about your life and asks for updates. She does what she can to take your mind off the exam. She even still says "You go, girl!" I love her. Her patient list is quite large so she may be hard to get an appointment with. I'm not even sure she is taking in new patients. Yes, she is in Des Moines but it is worth the drive. If you can manage to see her do it. You will see your pap smear in a whole new (positive!) light. read more

Dr. Chang delivered both my babies... literally! She's one of those doctors that is there for her patients all the way. When I was in labor, she crawled out of bed in the middle of the night to come deliver the baby for me. She was not obligated to do so since there were delivery doctors on call, but she's just that kind of doctor!. I remember when the nurse told me not to do this or that while I was in labor and I was thinking or cursing up the wall in my head, "how dare you tell me what I should be doing when I'm in this much pain". Dr. Chang however explained to me calmly that if I didn't breathe properly then I would be hurting my baby. At that point I was thinking well why didn't the nurse just say that then? Dr. Chang's got a corky and super bubbly personality so if you are nervous or scared about anything... she'll definitely be able to put you at ease and help you relax. The second time around (second child) she was not a preferred provider through my insurance but I coughed up the cash anyway because I trusted her and really wanted to use her as my OBG. She's very popular so an appointment may be hard to book, but totally worth the wait. read more

Dr Chang is amazing. That's pretty much the beginning, middle and end of it, but in the spirit of yelp I'll do some further explaining. I recently had to start looking for a new OBGYN due to a move out of state and it made me realize how much I'm going to miss going to Dr Chang. Dr Chang was my first OB ever and to say I was nervous about my first appointment is an understatement. I felt pretty ridiculous for being so nervous after that appointment. I've never felt so comfortable before in a doctor's office. I immediately felt welcomed and they treated me as if I had been a patient for years. The entire staff is SO nice and you can tell they all genuinely care about the patients. I can't remember the receptionists name but she was always super quick to check me in and just a very warm person which helps a lot when you are as nervous as I was. Garland (sp?) is also fantastic. I had quite a few issues with my birth control (my body is extra picky) and had to change several times and Garland was always very quick to return my phone calls and help me with any questions. The appointments themselves are pretty quick, but Dr Chang is really patient and took the time to answer all of my questions. I didn't have many my first visit but Dr Chang seemed to realize I was nervous and talked about a lot of things I probably should have asked about. I was ready with questions on my second visit and she had very thorough answers and really wanted to make sure I understood everything. I completely agree with the reviewer who made the comment about hanging out - she has such an easy going and friendly demeanor!! Dr Chang delivered all 3 of my babies. I had a single birth and double birth, both pregnancy went very well because of Dr. Chang. One thing I have to emphasize is that she is very passionate and enthusiastic, which makes me as a client very happy! I recommend Dr. Chang to every women whether pregnant or not to see her. Dr. Chang- What can I not say that is great about her? Look up Bedside manner and there is her Pic! The night of my surgery she returned to the hospital after performing surgeries since 8 AM. All the ladies at Sound Gynecology Associates are AMAZING! I have felt comfortable with these ladies from day one. Dr. Chang performed a D&C a few years back and the surgery was quick and almost pain free! She made me feel like I was in good hands. They remember me and always ask about more than just my medical issues, they genuinely care about patient care. They take care of me and my concerns and will always listen and never push unnecessary testing on you to make a quick buck! She's absolutely the best! Went in for my first ever gynecology exam, and she made it so easy! She's so chill, and hilarious too.
