This cutie locally food-focused restaurant sits on the north end of the island. The breeze in the back feels fresh and clean. You order first and then find a spot to make yourself comfortable. When traveling it can be hard to find a meal that truly feels refreshing and grounding, but Chaya and Cacao offers just that. Our digestion was in need of some TLC and we were grateful to see local kombucha and fermented foods on the menu. The apple and coffee kombucha is so refreshing and crisp. The iced matcha latte and iced sweet chai are also high on our list. The falafel bowl is balanced well leaving you feeling satisfied, but not heavy. We love the Caribbean bowl which has sweet plantains, rice, beans, mango, fibrous greens, sweet mango, and grounding potatoes. The avocado toast was the best I have ever had with various well-matched flavors working in perfect harmony. Summer rolls are fresh with a crunch that. feels hydrating on a hot island day. Overall this Isla Mujeres vegan find gets a 10/10 from me. The foods feel wholesome and nourishing! Not to mention extremely delicious. The staff is super friendly and inviting which helps the energetic overall feel

The smoothies were terrible. Don't bother. Orange juice tastes like it's fresh squeezed. That was a nice surprise. I did go for a quick bite at dinner time one night. Taco bar is the only decent thing I had in there. At any rate, the other restaurants are all booked up most days so this is a good option.

The station had lots of topping choices and there were 2 going at the same time, so no waiting in line. I usually only eat turkey bacon at home, so the real bacon here was a real treat to me! And who doesn't love eating FRESH SMOKED SALMON with breakfast - what a treat! I also had a cantaloupe and pineapple plate and the fruit was so perfectly ripe, it was almost hard to pickup with a fork! My fiancé had the french toast after we heard another couple talking about it at check-in last night ... it truly didn't disappoint! You could see the granules of sugar on top mmmmhmmm! He also made his own chilaquiles ... look at that pickled onion on top - amazing! He also had this really delish candied pear that had a plop of whipped cream on top, as well as other fruits. It was the perfect level of sweet and tart mix. Of course don't forget to order your mimosas and bloody mary's to go along with your epic breakfast!
