Amazed at this fully stocked Mexican market. Staff friendly and market is standard with veggies, spices but toward the back there is also a taqueria for to go or dine in. The cool thing is if you buy meats, the taqueria will cook the meat for you! we have recently moved to the area and were looking for a place to eat some weekend Menudo or Pozole. We tried their Pozole on a Sunday it had good flavor. There was a steady stream of patrons as I waited for my order to be prepared. Will give this a place a try next weekend to try the Menudo or maybe some carnitas. read more

In the back, you can get anything you need from the meat counter or the cheese counter. They make sauces and tortillas as well. Love this store I get my Mexican bread there. I would recommend trying the jalapeño cheese bread in the bread warmer. If you want good bread then you should come at the time of 11:00 AM because that's when they put it out. well the food is great but, the people here clearly hate white people coming in. just for reference, im half white, half mexican but, i look compleatly white. they always serve me last even if o was first in line. i once waites 30 min for them to get to me even though i showed up first. they litteraly lose all the smile in their face when they see me. ive never had this happen anywhere else. ive been telling myself i must be imagining it for a few years now but, it keeps happening... its a shame too there food is the mexican in town. read more

BEWARE...this place will rip you off!! I haven't shopped here in years; however, my immediate family shops here. My parents went in to purchase masa for tamales that they had previously ordered and they were quoted $1.60 per pound. The staff told my parents they could pay when they picked up; however, when they went to pick up the masa they were charged approximately $2.13 per pound and the staff ripped them off about 5 pounds, about $10! Be careful when you order and double check or confirm your order. I recommend taking your own scale with you! read more

I have been coming to the market and taqueria at El Toro for a few years now. I am sad to say that nearly every time I order something from the taqueria, the order is wrong. Tonight for instance, I dropped by after getting offbnbof work to grab a few groceries and also pick up dinner for the family. After ordering I did my shopping and waited another 10 minutes for my food after I was done. The order was pretty simple: 3 chicken tacos with everything, two junior bean and cheese burritos and a regular chicken burrito with no cilantro and no onion. When the order was ready, I confirmed everything was there and checked out. When I got home, we all sat down to eat and with my first bite, there was a mouthful of onions. I then opened the burrito up to see that the whole thing was filled with onions (which I had politely asked them to not add). Normally I'd just not let it bother me but this seems to be the trend with El Toro; they always write down my order and sometimes even repeat it back. Sadly however, they probably make our food the way we ask about 20% of the time. I really wish I could have at least a little consistency in my order when coming to El Toro. I almost feel like I either need to start checking everything (including opening up my burritos) before leaving the store to make sure everything is there and is how I ordered it. It is almost to the point that I am just going to stop getting food from the taqueria because half of the time the order is so messed up I can't eat it and I am tired of throwing food away and wasting my money. read more

Let the man know I asked for one pound and he got a grumpy attitude with me. As well as flies inside the meat counter, worker also touched raw meat and proceeded to handle the cooked meat I was ordering, I let the young man know that it was cross contamination and he did not change his gloves or wash his hands. Gross! I won't be coming back, just because you own a store does not mean you are exempt from basic food handling. read more

Great little gem here in Oakdale. This small Market makes some of the best Mexican food in the county. Yes, it's a store but with a small and good group of cooks in the kitchen. They use top quality meats from their in-house butcher shop and fresh veggies from their produce center. The staff is friendly and bi-lingual which makes it easy for non Spanish speaking friends. I had burritos a few times from this place. First time was good, second was great, but the third was probably the worst I've ever had. Tasteless and bland don't want to gamble with my money probably won't be going in again for picking up food. Their food is really inconsistent. Everything else in the store and the meat counter is great, I love picking up meat to bbq for tacos etc. I'm not trying to bad mouth them just disappointed with the burritos I ordered and expectations on how they usually taste. Ohhhh man you have to try the Torta de Milanesa de Res. It is DELISH!!!! The ladies in the kitchen are so sweet and nice, they make sure you are happy with your order. I always get either the carne Asada, or chicken burritos, but I leave the rice out, they tend to put too much rice and not enough meat!
