Chorizo quesadilla
Charmaine M.

I love this place... they have the best tacos and quesadillas . Super nice . I saw someone complain about the price but , I'm not complaining, the portions are big and the foods worth the price ! Please see what's left of my food .

Not the most glamorous setting...

Not the most glamorous setup, by far. No menus, just pictures up on the wall---sans prices. If you're looking to "dine-in", be prepared to eat your meal in darn near darkness with cheap tablecloths and really bad chairs. I had my food to go. Don't let the settings fool you though, because this food is bomb. I was in the mood for Mexican for my lunch break and all I knew nearby that qualified for "Mexican" was Chipotle...I really wanted a change and I desired authenticity, and Yelp lead me to El Taco Rico. I know from experience that it's usually these hole in the wall places that are the best foodie spots, so I went without hesitation. My order took some time to make, which wasn't really a big deal since it is truly made to order, but I was on the lunch break time constraint so it was a little bit nerve-wracking...just some advice for folks trying to get out here on the hurry. I got the Quesadilla. Loaded with chicken and cheese (of course) but also lettuce, jalapeno, bell peppers, onions...everything that made this thing EXTREMELY flavorful. Came with two sauces on the side...had no idea what they were...but they were sooo good! The tortilla was a little crispy, a little soft, a bit of a mix of the two..chicken pieces were shredded and definitely marinated. It was so delicious. I'm definitely a fan after eating here today...especially since their tacos are only $2 each! I can't wait to sample other menu items. I don't care about the apperance of the place as long as I know I can take good, quality food home. I know that whenever I'm in the Greenbelt area and have a craving for Mexican, I'll skip Chipotle and head straight for this joint.

2 pork tacos.

If you want fancy and intimate, go somewhere else. If you want a great taco, this is where you want to go. It's located in Beltway Plaza Mall, so you'll have to walk inside the mall to find it. They serve food on plastic cafeteria plates, no frills, not much English, but great pork tacos. I used the sliced radishes to sample the 4 pack of sauces that were placed on the table. I like the darker of the green ones best. The tacos had fresh ingredients, and tasted delicious. Double tortillas, pork, fresh cilantro and diced onions compose the taco, while there are slices of cucumber, radish and a wedge of lime to fill the rest of the dish. Grab an Inca cola, and you're set! Sit outside on the mall floor if you don't want to feel crowded inside where there is a jukebox. Yes, a jukebox. Best of all, I could eat while watching the fish in the aquarium store across the mall!

So yummy! 3 tacos for under $10!!! Woohoo

Juicy tacos at a great price. I bought 3 tacos (steak, chicken, & beef) for under $10! I went in not know what to expect. Didn't realize it was going to be located in a mall. This is a hole in the wall restaurant you go to strictly for the food. Don't think of coming here for a date unless you're comfortable enough with each other after consuming tons of onions. My tacos consisted of a nice serving of meat, cilantro, some cucumbers to combat the spicy sauces they gave on the side, radish slices, & lots of onions.. which I love! **If you don't like onions, you better tell the cashier that. Otherwise, they'll add it into your tacos** After taking my first bite, I knew why this place was so highly reviewed. The soft shells are fresh and warm which compliment the other ingredients very well. I wish they had pico de gallo. I might just order to go next time and add that in at home. Overall, this is gonna be my go to taco place in PG County from now on. +fresh shells +good portion +no card minimum -limited toppings (3 spicy sauces & some pickled onions)

Had the Torta. Was the best I've ever had, and I've had quite a bit. Highly recommended.

I thought I had done a revue of this spot but I guess not! I would give them a 3.75 stars because…read moreof the amount of food that was really good and the server. The actual restaurant/bar drinks and bathrooms is the issue needs to definitely be updated. So back to the good part of the review: the food. Now I love me some Birria tacos and usually they are the size of a small corn tortilla...but not these! When she brought me out these ginormous (3) tacos I couldn't believe my eyes! They were the size of my open hand past my wrist! Now my pictures don't do them any justice because it took me 2-3 days to finish them and the side of Mexican rice which was also so big! So be aware that you will have food to take home for lunch or to eat later as I'm a grazer myself...lol. Now the margaritas were not good at all and tasted premade which for an authentic Mexican a spot as this seems to be should be a no-no! I did like the salsa that tasted homemade and asked if I could take a side of it home! As usual I love finding a diamond in the rough and this is definitely it! Great food and service horrible margaritas.

I visited this restaurant with a friend as a new spot to go to for a late night, Mexican food, and…read moreit did not disappoint. I really love the ambience of the restaurant where you have seating for both the bar (where you can enjoy music and pool) as well as the restaurant side where you can sit and dine or wait for a pick up order. The staff is great! I really enjoy the main hostess as they are very hospitable and accommodating. This evening, we sat at the bar and ordered lots of great food, especially the Birria tacos and quesadillas. The consume was just the right consistency! I will say that my only issue is that the bar does not have enough options for various types of drinks - were so being able to modify classic cocktails I definitely will be back and have been back to order carry out however eating and it's my preference.

It had been 12 years since my last visit, and over a decade later--this place did not disappoint…read more On our way out to enjoy the weather, I stopped in with my cousins and we ate very well. We shared the corn, which was perfectly sweet and tangy, ordered three lemonades, and tried a handful of tacos. The taco de lengua was tender and moist without being fatty, the barbacoa was savory with just the right hint of sweetness, and the carne asada was hearty, meaty, and full of flavor. We wrapped things up with a flan that was creamy and custardy--exactly how it should be. The packed parking lot says it all about this place's popularity. Don't miss out.

This place is ALWAYS poppin'. This taqueria has been here for years! I can't think of many times…read morewhen this place isn't packed, busy, or having multiple parking spots open. There are definitely a variety of taco choices. I haven't been unsatisfied yet. There is a small eating area inside away from the bottleneck area where people order and pick up their food but I don't think I'd ever want to eat inside since it's way too busy and the ambiance would be too hectic for me to deal with. There are other choices of sides or extras like maíz loco (corn on the cob with a variety of toppings like mayo, catsup, crumbled cheese, tajín...your choices), dried pork rinds, chicharrón (chewier and crispy version of the pork rinds), atole (hot, masa-based beverage made from corn dough, water or milk, sweetened with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla). There are quick desserts to go too. I would highly recommend ordering ahead so you can get in and out or figuring out the less congested times. I've come during the dinner rush hours time but hadn't been planning on getting it ahead of time. I definitely recommend this place and will continue to come back.
