When one bar recommends another bar, it calls my attention. But when several bars recommend one…read morebar, then it becomes a "must" to visit that bar. This is how I ended up visiting "El Bar de Don Rodrigo". I have to mention that at first sight its small, dark, and busy. The earlier the better to get seated. Personally I like the bar areas because of the conversations I carry to know more about the country's business and politics. And met quite a few persons that not only happily discussed their political views but personal business views and opportunities in the country. Best to drink are the 'pisco sour' specially made by Mr. Santiago de Santiago. He can make pretty much any drink you order. Food is good and classic. I had the empanadas, best I've had in Chile so far. Music is varied but of surprisingly good taste. You get free peanuts at all areas. Their whole idea is to make you feel at home and enjoy their bar. Time flies when you are having fun and gladly I would return to this place anytime I am in Chile. I'll write my next post from Brasil or NY, "Vayan con Dios" amigos...

This is a great restaurant in a fun part of Santiago…read more I have been enjoying pisco cocktails throughout Chile, and the cocktails here were fantastic. Over a couple of visits I was able to try: La Enjundia De Diablo, Cotrabando, Temporada, and Pisco is in the air. Truthfully the first two were preferred, more spicy than sweet. The second two were like smoothies with alcohol-also delicious, just hot differently. They were well presented and fabulous. For meals we had the steak and chimichurri, good if you love a big steak- a little too much for us. The beef and lentils were delicious and perfect for a cold winter evening. The next meals we tried were the cuttlefish croquettes which were very good, like a Japanese octopus ball. Great sauces. Then the fish of the day-Hake- with whipped potatoes(I think) and capers with veggies-outstanding. We also had a very good, filling, fish sandwich. I liked the sweet potatoes, a unique touch. The service was attentive without overdoing it. The first night when we came in everyone said hello, which made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was fun, hipster, and inviting. So glad our hotel was nearby, couldn't have asked for a better restaurant to be near.

First meal in Santiago and it as good. This place lives up to its name. Good food, good atmosphere…read moreand good staff.
