The staff was super accommodating and made sure we were comfortable with our food choices, as we have never had middle eastern food before. When the food arrived, we were not disappointed! There was a dish with a yogurt sauce that had a blend of citrus and herbs that I have never tried before, but it made me go Full Remy ( eyes closed, experiencing the flavors like the rat from ratatouille). This was followed by a cheese and veggie mixture that was beyond heavenly and we kept yelping with joy every time we experienced these flavors. The rice with lentils and caramelized onions had a combo of flavor and texture that we were dead silent as we swallowed every bite with joy. When we were done with our main courses, the staff brought over a tray of all their desserts and, since everything else was so dang good, how could we say no!?!?! The baklava was flaky and with the ice cream and pistachios, the texture of it all was phenomenal. In all the trips by us he didn't say hello, or offer water. After a few minutes we just got up and left. Now you have to take this in the context of how people welcome customers in Mexico City. The first words are almost always "Bienvenido." There are too many lovely restaurants and people in Mexico City to suffer any kind of "desprecio" for any reason. We started with the Jarra de Café Arabe which was made just right. It reminded me of Lebanon and gave me that midday caffeine kick I needed. The Pan con Queso y Zaatar was surprisingly not authentic. It was essentially just cheese with dry zaatar on the side. I was expecting it to be baked with half Cheese and half Zaatar. They essentially gave us the zaatar to sprinkle on our own. The Pastel de Dátil was rich, naturally sweet from the dates, and a bit dense. I picked up on other spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom which gave it some warmth while the crust was more crunchy and nutty. Good try, overall!
