She told me it wasn't anything serious and that I'd just receive a verbal warning, but still asked for my license and registration and ran my information. Now, I understand procedure... I do. But there's something about being told it's minor, yet still feeling like you're being checked for something more--that part lingers. What also gave me pause was that backup showed up. And it made me wonder... if a routine traffic stop requires two officers, why not just have two officers in the car to begin with?

First, the person who answered the phone claimed that the doors that I was calling regarding should remain open because they are on a spring. This was false. I explained if those open door should remain open, then they needed to close 5,000 doors in this complex. That's when the guy said, "oh, those doors are supposed to be closed." I said, "I know!" It was obvious that this guy just didn't want to do his job. He never came out to address the fire violation issue. This disturbed me since this complex has had several fires and my property has been in the direct line of some of the fires. After a few days, I called back and I spoke to another guy since they still hadn't come out to address the doors. This person also refuse to do anything about it and simply said that he would give the message to the first person who had ignored my message the last time. This place is a joke! Hey firefighters, why don't you guys do the job that you're paid to do?

A client decided to go for permit on a small project right when I was getting ready for my…read morevacation. With only 10 days to get this done and having had over 10 yrs of experience going through plan check, it made me worry. Most small projects they will review over the counter, but you never know since each city has their guidelines. I heard rumors about El Segundo being really picky with their projects so it made me even more worried that I wasn't going to be able to pull it through before my trip. I called the building dept. to double check on the requirements and they were pretty helpful. I stopped by the B&S and the entire process took about 15 min! Including clearance from the Fire Dept. I was really surprised with the speedy process. Needless to say the client was very pleased. Three months have passed by and the client has not yet started construction...Sigh.

I came here today to Station #2 to help with informing the public about this program during the Fire Service Day Open House. During the open house they had the station open for families to see where the firemen eat, sleep and work as well as giving demonstrations on what happens when they get a call about someone with chest pains, how to extinguish a real fire and which extinguisher you should use. The highlight of the day was watching them show a demonstration of a victim of a car accident trapped in their vehicle and watching the men break the window to check on victim and using the jaws of life on the door. They had free hot dogs, for all and the let people sit in one of the large engines and displayed all of their equipment and of course cute little fireman helmet and sticker badges for the kids. Professional…read more My husband who is 6ft1 about 240 threw his back out and could not move, the guys from station 62 along with EMT's Jason and Jose from station 13 arrived no more than 5 minutes after I called (at 5:00am) and were so caring and professional. I was extremely impressed how willing and enthusiastic they were to help not to mention how easily they transported him down 2 flights of stairs. A huge thank you to Redondo Beach Station #62. You guys are the best we really appreciate your help and everything you guys do for our community, we are very lucky to have you to count on!

Just saw them put caution tape all over a woman's SUV and harass a delivery driver and a second…read morefrom my balcony. Neither vehicle blocked their passage or hindered what they were doing. They maliciously wrapped the ladys vehicle in caution tape while joking about it. For the delivery driver in a clearly marked vehicle one guy shouted at him for parking across from them on a one way street. He moved his vehicle to the opposite side where the only parking was handicapped parking. Once he went inside, they got inside the ambulance to block him in. No one expects you to be customer service professionals, but you don't have to be pricks either.

What do you get when you mix a little drinky drinky and drive a car. A visit by the local fire…read moredepartment and police department [see photos]. I have reviewed the Redondo Beach CERT and a couple of their stations but I have yet to review the RBFD until today. This past Sunday I was sitting in my home and heard a big thud. It sounded like someone dropped a pallet of wood but it wasn't. It was a drunk driver that ran into a VW Bug and flipped over. When I came outside she was trying to get out but she was unable to do so then she decided to start the car and flee...only problem the car was on its side. It only took a minute or two for the FD and police to arrive. The FD was able to get her out after securing the vehicle with cribbing then the paramedics got her on a stretcher and took her to the hospital and then most likely to jail. The fire department here is great all of them are also trained paramedics and it is nice to have help when needed even if you don't want it. Congratulations to Captain Rick Martinez for receiving the 2008 Medal of Valor Award in Sustained Superiority. He was one of 12 honored in the South Bay and the only fire personnel honored. In my opinion there are good, ok and bad parts of Gardena. Back in the day parts of Gardena that were well known for all the Asian foods and places. When growing up I would go to all these places like the Gardena Buddhist Church, Meiji Market in Pacific Square now known as Tokyo Central along all these other stores and places that used to be in the square. Along Redondo Beach Bl there were some good places as well. Lots has changed all over Gardena but still a great city. Oh also the Gardena PD and Fire are on top of things as well even my classmate and friend was the Chief of Police. Overall I still will recommend visiting Pacific Square and all the places around the surrounding area such as Tozai Plaza off Western Ave and Redondo Beach Bl. There much more others but then this review will be a novel lol.
