Y'all gotta try this place!!! Ok, so, I'm back in Nixon, TX on business and after attempting to find a place to eat that is actually still in business, I end up back at El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant. They are very much open for business, to go & dine in. There was plenty of ample parking. I was greeted upon entry and served chips & salsa...both tasted fresh and delicious. Told my server what I was hungry for and she suggested several plates. I ordered Steak ala mexicana Taco & a cheese enchilada. Taco on flour tortilla was generous helping of tender beef and mix of tomato & jalapeño. Cheese enchilada, OMG, just light a match to it and would have become "queso fondido"...thick cheese and bits of shredded carne guisada in the mix... by far "The Best" cheese enchilada I have had in years. The Staff here is very cheerful, friendly & knowledgeable of menu. Worth the trip here and if you live nearby, hope you get here soon! "Viva El Rodeó" ! read more

El Rodeo - Let's Eat... - Mexican Near Me - Nixon, Texas

Took a lunch break and wanted something a little light, so this was my option in this area. For starters the waitress was very kind and welcoming. She helped with selections and informing us of the specials. I went with the 3 tacos special and I ordered a chicken quesadilla. The food was amazing! I don't often use that word lol but I didn't even need to add any sauce to anything. That's definitely a plus for me. I couldn't grant it 5 stars due to instead of a quesadilla I received a chicken taco. I wasn't disappointed honestly because the food was great. Nice job crew. I will definitely be coming back Happy Yelping read more

This place was amazing in accommodating us. We called the day before to seat 20 people after a Memorial service and they were happy to serve us. We walked in and they had everything set up perfectly. We ended up having more like 30 people and they quickly set everything up for the extra guests. We were all so amazed about all of the employee's (possibly owner's) calmness and organization of the whole process. We all ordered a variety of food......our orders were perfect.......and the food was GREAT. Very enjoyable place to visit. Very clean.....Amazing Staff.....Great family setting.....Great food.....Great prices.....Highly recommend!!! read more

Excellent food. We ordered shrimp, chicken, and pork tacos. The carnitas was amazing! I loved the chicken too. They have great sauces to go with them, if you decide to play with flavors. Each plate comes with cilantro and diced onion and lime wedge. These are not tiny little tacos, these are a very good value. I will eat here again for sure! read more

Stopped by for some lunch while roadtripping and it was great! Good food and quick service.

A hidden treasure you don't want to miss !! Very clean - Waitstaff courteous and helpful - the BEST chips & spicy Salsa you can find !

I was hungry and I really wanted to like this place after reading the reviews. Unfortunately it was really disappointing. I asked for the chicken parrillada. It definitely looked like they served me reheated left overs; the chicken extremely dry, reminded me of 3-4 day old cooked chicken and reheated again, the green pepper slices looked fresh and crispy, the charro beans were okay. Why would they mix fresh veggies with really bad and old chicken? Definitely I won't be returning. UPDATE: With the little bit I tasted (chicken) , I got sick with food poisoning. Very painful and annoying that my day got ruined. Glad that I returned 99% of the food. read more

Stopped in for dinner while traveling. What a great find! The servers couldn't have been more welcoming or kind, the food was very good and reasonably priced, and they treated my friend (whose birthday it happened to be that day) very well, like part of their family. Even the other patrons, who I assume were locals, were friendly! Love small towns, love El Rodeo... Thanks ladies! read more

What a little gem! We've only discovered this little place because of the covid shut downs, but I would classify it as one of those good discoveries in a world of bad. Everything we've ordered has been delicious and I'm glad we gave these guys a shot! read more
