El Rodeo - Mexican Near Me - Dodge City, Kansas

everything was GREAT from fast service to not having to wait long for our food and staff was amazing highly recommended the queso dip

This was one of the best, most authentic Mexican meals I've had outside of Mexico! This restaurant came highly recommended by the two lovely young ladies working at the Dodge City Visitor's Center and they were spot on! i had the Chili Rellana and my husband had some kind of Burrito. There were no leftovers! If I ever find my way back to Dodge City I'll definitely stop in again! Delicious! read more

I had hope because my Texas born and raised son likes it. Well obviously it's been a while since he has been home. Do not get me wrong .. I liked it. However, it was kind of bland. I am used to grilled with a lot of marinade and spices. Served with grilled veggies as well. We had a lost in translation moment when I asked about the Hawaiian fajitas ... she said with pineapple. I thought .. hmm .. I love grilled pineapple so let's try it. Well .. check images ... came served in a pineapple instead. It was a mix .. chicken, beef and shrimp. The queso and salsa were really good. read more

It is definitely authentic, all the workers are Spanish speaking Mexicans. The music playing is all in Spanish. Started out with chips and salsa. OMG...the salsa is SPICY. I will be paying for it later. We got the El Rodeo Platter appetizer for our meal. It came with one chicken quesadilla, two beef tacos, four flautas, two jalapeno poppers and cheese dip. The quesadilla was stuffed with shredded chicken and melted cheese. The authentic beef street tacos tasted amazing. The flautas were stuffed with shredded chicken...yummy. Can't forget the extras fajita steak, shrimp and veggies served in the middle. (Great for not being in the menu description). The poppers were breaded and filled with cream cheese. They must have boiled them because they weren't hot. All in all, very good and quick authentic Mexican food. This was a great spur of the moment decision for my baby's birthday lunch. read more

The queso blanco is dangerously good. If you like pozole, you better get a bowl. Best we've ever had. I ordered shrimp tacos and my spouse ordered chile verde. He cleaned his plate! Compliments to our server. I wish we would've gotten his name so we could give him kudos for the great service. If I was a local, I would eat here twice a week minimum. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch while traveling through. This is a family owned, local and authentic Mexican restaurant. Everyone was friendly and having fun working here. When a table cleared, several people immediately jumped to action to clean and clear the table. We started with chips and salsa and queso. The queso was white cheese and very good, I didn't care much for the salsa. I order 3 enchiladas and each with a different sauce, red, green and cheese. They were excellent, the beans and rice were not my favorite but my wife (who is Mexican decent) said they were authentic. My wife had Chili Verde and the meat was incredibly tender and the dish was excellent. The service and Margarita's were great as well. read more

Usually this establishment has good service and food. Our appetizer came out with our food. My drink remained empty most of the meal. I did request a refill. When the appetizer came out there was not any chips and went most of the meal waiting for those. Hard to eat guacamole and queso without them. Something was off with my food and ended up getting sick that evening. Food born illness of some kind. Hopefully this helps you review your establishment. It'll be a long time before I return if at all. read more

Located in a charming older building in historic Dodge City, this little gem where the locals go has great Mexican fair. We adored the simple ambiance as well as the queso! We had chili relleno , one with green sauce and one with cheese sauce. Both were good. Salsa was very thin and boring. read more

Food, mediocre & this is being kinda generous.... Ground beef enchilada were ground beef only, the other was just plain chicken meat the cheese enchilada was just cheese (these enchiladas were so sad they could only be called enchiladas on a menu), no spice, no additions, oh wait they had pizza sauce on top. Unseasoned beans, poor rice, and no apparent tequila in the margarita. Chile rellano was just wierd, I had the same "great" ground beef enchilada, and a tamale that was grateful for the red marinara sauce on top. No spices were there to "care" for the food. My abuelita would have torn a new one into the owner to present this as Mexican food. The waitress, we're sure was completely untrained, We think we were her 1st customers. We won't be back. We know you can't win over every customer, some nights are just off, but they didn't even try. read more

Some of the best tacos in Dodge City! I was greeted fast and friendly! Amazed on how quick the food came out.. Oh an the flavors with the al pastor tacos the called it "tacos de trompo estilo mexico" ! Seasoned pork on a corn tortilla with pineapple, cilantro, onions, lime and some hot salsa!!! Pork had to been marinade which gave the meat a smokey, slightly spicier flavor PERFECTION .. GREAT PLACE TO TRY!!!! read more

New to town. Checking out some local restaurants. The service here is friendly and efficient. The server was helpful when asking about popular dinner options. My husband and son had the expected enchiladas with rice and beans. I chose the recommended dish, I cannot remember the name of however, it came in a large black "morter" bowl. There were refried beans and melted cheese sauce on the bottom topped with a grilled green pepper, a cheese quesadilla, a thin grilled steak and a thin grilled piece of chicken and 4 grilled shrimp. The seasoning was good, but the steak and chicken were dry and hard. The quasadilla was nice and the cheese sauce was tasty. I loved the grilled pepper. My husband said the enchiladas were just okay, the sauce was somewhat bland and plain. read more

We were In Doge City for a visit. The food here was pretty good. We had I believe the tres rodeos. It was a plate with rice, beans, steak, chicken and shrimp. My 16 year a picky eater ate all his plate and so did my 3 yr old. Yes, I would recommend this place. read more

It is great authentic Mexican food. The beans are delicious and the food came out piping hot. Will be back!

By far my favorite place to eat in Dodge City. Their burgers are delectable, their tacos are some of the best in town, the flautas are tasty and the quesadillas are to die for! I highly recommend you try this if you're visiting Dodge City or if you live here too! read more

I order enchilada plate! Inside it was very watery. It tasted horrible! This place is like not a good Mexican choice! I'm Mexican!! They don't take pride in the way they cook. Rice was still hard. Beans were caned!! Don't waste your money here! They don't know how to cook!! read more

This one star rating is based on service alone. I came in at lunch and sat at the bar. I ordered a water to drink and that was brought that quickly. Another couple sat down just as I got my water. They were able to order drinks (Bloody Mary) and have that delivered and order their food and literally get their food and start eating it before my order was taken. read more

Best Combo Fajitas I've ever had...for real. Best Service! I'll be back and will post pics...promise!

Meh. Service was fine. Food was surprisingly bland. Red sauce on my enchiladas had very little flavor. Husband's chicken burrito looked good but was boring. House margarita was watery and the iced tea was cloudy. The place was busy, lots of locals, so they must be doing something right, but we didn't see much of it. No reason to go back. read more

I'm a fajitas snob, and the chicken fajitas at El Rodeo were EXCELLENT. The addition of tomatoes to the onion and green pepper was perfect. The heated cast iron skillet kept everything warmth. The house made flour tortillas added the crowning touch. read more

Wait, what? Delicious Mexican food in Dodge City, KS. The only thing missing was the margaritas (only have limited beer selection). But the food was tasty! We were here with friends on business recently and came about an hour before closing, seated very quickly. The chips/salsa were nothing special, but I ordered the Mocajete - superb!! Huge portions & friendly service--you can't go wrong here! read more

A co worker and I are in town for work and El Rodeo came highly recommended by the locals. We started out with chips, salsa and some queso. The salsa was a bit hot for me so I stuck with the queso which was also spicy but definitely doable for me. From the pics we had to try the El Diablo and Mocajete and my oh my HOT HOT HOT (temperature hot)! Very good presentation, tasty food, reasonably priced, quick service! A+ read more

Amazing food and service! I am originally from San Diego and and I also have family that lives in Mexico that I visit. This is the most authentic Mexican food I have found in Kansas.
