I've been to this spot over 10 times in the past year. Since the food isn't bad at all, we decided to give it more chances. The service couldn't be worse, though. There's usually two servers there, a grown lady and a younger one. They both have the same work ethic. It will take 10+ minutes for you to get a water, margarita? 25 minutes. The servers will throw the drinks on the table without saying a word, not even to ask you if you want to order food or anything at all, just drop it and leave. The food usually takes 45 minutes or more. And there's been times when my table ordered food and it all came at different times. Some people finished eating while others hadn't even gotten their food yet. They'll add gratuity because there's no way in hell they'd get good tips the way they work this place. Well, that was interesting. We went to get drinks & apps, but asked if that was okay first, seeing as they don't have a bar and we would have needed a table. The greeter told us that they don't serve drinks right now. That was strange to me because I looked them up before going in and saw their margaritas with beers on top that we were planning on ordering a couple of. I even see photos of them on here. There were plenty of empty tables, so I would have thought that some business is better than no business, especially because we would have come back and always tip well. Had an actual sit down lunch there the other day. Beer was ice cold in a frosted mug. Taco chips were fresh and good. Red and Green salsas were well seasoned and spiced. I've been to this place 3 times I've given the restaurant a chance but all my visits were all bad . My first visit they didn't put the right amount of tacos and my second visit they overcharged me for my food . I finally decided to give the restaurant another chance today , I told them to give me a big fish I paid 25$ and when I received it it was really small and they put a small amount of rice and a small amount of lettuce . This is the last time I come to this restaurant this restaurant is a disgrace to Mexican food . I love everything about this family owned restaurant. There's a cook that has his own grill outside as he makes fresh tacos by the order, very interesting to watch. The staff here is not friendly at all. When I come here there's never really a wait unless we're in season. There's inside and outside seating. It is the third time that I have been there and they have messed up the order every single time. The last time I was there I waited 30 minutes to get enchilladas and they gave me fajitas. Worst customer service in town. Worried more about the tourists there than the actual customers. I waited for more than 45 minutes for an order of 2 burritos and they still gave me the wrong order. I will not be going there again and certainly would not recommend anyone else going there. Finally decided to try this place out. I will agree that it did seem "authentic" in the worst way. Having lived in Central America most of my life it reminded me of cheap nasty bus station food. The beans were just bean water with a sour "old"smell and flavor. The rice was just odd with peas and corn in it. I ordered the chicken gordita lunch platter but the tortillas were more just deep fried and drenched in oil rather than "puffed". The Pico de gallo was extremely chunky sliced and sitting in a lot of onion water instead of a small amount of lime juice. Finally on our way out the server short changed us. First of all, I want to remind everyone that this is a typical family restaurant like you would find deep into Mexico. My wife and I have traveled 28 of the 31 Mexican states and enjoyed the many facets of Mexican living. We did not stay close to all of the Tourist meccas where the slicky boys are but tried to visit the little towns where honesty and a downright homey atmosphere pervades. I started visiting his Grandfathers place when it was on Tamiami Trail and Hiway 41. One of my favorite dishes was Maries Chimichongas and when the restaurant closed I felt bad because that was the only great Mexican place I knew. I came to the Rincon and was surprised that the owner Pepi (Jose) had the grandfather working there and Maries Chimichongas were on the menu but they dropped Maries name. Still just as good. When I walk into the Rincon it is like being back there in one of the higher middle class country restaurants. I usually bring large groups of people with me and this time I was accompanied by 13 people. Joanna his wife was supposed to be there to help serve us but at the last minute their babysitter didn't show up and the regular waitress was left to provide for us by herself.. Because of the volume she occasionally made a mistake but the kitchen staff (Jose and his grandfather) was right on the money and the food was as good as always. The hot sauce they gave me was a chipotle flavor and not hot at all for my taste. (I am a little spoiled because the Gorditas at El Taquito in Immokolee cannot be beat.) Very disappointing.. the food is good, atmosphere is good, but the service is once again TERRIBLE .
