They had a number of lunch specials. We ordered from the combo section. I ordered a chalupa with ground beef without onions and chose the regular beans (vs the refried ones). I had to look up what a chalupa was... and basically it's a softer more bread like wrap. It was fried, so it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. The portion was large with melted cheese. Alongside was a small scoop of sour cream and one of guacamole. A mound of yellow rice and a small taco shell cup of red beans rounded out the plate. It was good, but fairly plain tasting. Adding some salt and salsa helped a bit. My husband got a combo with two different options. He wound up taking one part of his lunch home. His meal came with refried beans and yellow rice. I was surprised that we were the only one's dining in on a Friday at lunchtime. The service was very friendly although a little slow for the restaurant being empty. The bar was fully stocked to make authentic Mexican cocktails. The restaurant looked very clean and all of the bottled hot sauce condiments on the tables were neatly organized. The regular menu had a great variety and on the lunch menu there were specials for a complete meal for under $12, which included rice, beans, and a fountain beverage. We took advantage of the specials and ordered the Chicken Burrito and the Steak Fajitas. Both were a good sized portion for the price. The Fajitas were well seasoned and I was able to substitute a small salad instead of rice and beans. Next time I would order a side of sour cream as it comes without the traditional Americanized fajita sides of sour cream, guacamole or shredded cheese. The peppers and onions were nice, wrapped in the homemade corn tortillas, with the sliced steak. The meal was delicious and the complimentary chips (fried flour) came with a side cup of a very thin watery salsa and a side cup of finely chopped onions and peppers in a vinegar marinade. We mixed both together to make a chunckier salsa for the chips. We enjoyed eating here and look forward to coming back again in the evening when this place is much more festive from the DJ.
