You can definitely tell it's been around for a long time and it was very cool to think about all of the different people that have stayed there over the past century. Apparently, it was founded in the early 1900s by a relative of Buffalo Bill. I stayed in a one bedroom suite, and it was nice as shown in my pictures. The room was tastefully appointed and the bed was reasonably comfortable. It had the classic Spanish tile flooring and Adobe walls, along with a southwestern theme. Everything functioned well and the room was cool even though it was hot outside. They also had a small continental breakfast available in the morning that was actually early enough (7 a.m.) to be useful for somebody who has to go out on business. I enjoyed the Greek yogurt and other offerings. The price was fairly reasonable, and I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a unique place to stay that has all of the normal comfort you would expect from a larger hotel. Five stars!

The common areas are equally good: relaxed, elevated, tasteful, with just enough whimsy to remind you that you're in Palm Springs. Staff throughout my stay were friendly, cordial, and helpful. My room was large and very comfortable, although oddly missing any real desk or workspace. Perhaps that's the designers gently telling me I shouldn't be answering emails in Palm Springs. If only. I visited in the middle of summer, so the AC had one job, and I'm happy to report it understood the assignment. I like sleeping in borderline sub-Arctic conditions, and that room stayed wonderfully cold. The amenities are also a cut above. Nespresso in the room, DS & Durga products in the bathroom, and mine happened to be on the same level as the pool, bar, and restaurant, which was ridiculously convenient. And then there's breakfast. I really don't know what happened here. In the morning, the bar becomes a complimentary breakfast area with a small spread, plus a handful of items you can order for an additional charge. The quality felt completely disconnected from everything else at the hotel. Saying it was gas-station-convenience-store quality might actually be unfair to some very hardworking gas stations. Palm Springs has way too many great breakfast places nearby to subject yourself to this. Protect your palate. Go elsewhere. Breakfast aside, I really enjoyed the Thompson. From the moment we walked in, the owner was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. He took the time to show us around the property, and honestly, I was wondering how I had never discovered this hidden gem before. Every room is uniquely themed with classic old-school Palm Springs charm. From JFK and Marilyn Monroe-inspired spaces to an adorable Playboy-themed room and even a Liberace room, every detail is thoughtfully designed, classy, and full of character. The indoor bar area is absolutely amazing and adds to the fun, retro vibe of the entire property. The bartenders and staff were all friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We rented a cabana, relaxed by the pool, enjoyed great music all day, and had food delivered directly to us. The drinks were fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect, and everything felt effortless and enjoyable. The room was adorable and had strong AC, the property was nice, and the hotel was relatively centrally located and we were able to take quick Ubers to restaurants. Parking is easily available. Poolside service was a little slow, but they literally had one bartender serving the pool and making the drinks. The hotel shares access with the Avalon Hotel just a short walk away where there are additional pools, a gym, and a spa. It's not a five star hotel, but it's a wonderful, clean, and charming place to stay for a trip to Palm Springs!

However, that did not stop them. They said pick a date ane just come. They paid for my stay. The hacienda does not make money on me because lunch and breakfast included. They did 15 yrs ago as well with my lung cancer. The staff is fabulous. So helpful and kind. Steve goes above and beyond. Only other gay resort to do this was Timberfell but no longer own it. No others have done that and trust me there are 3 other resorts I stay at all the time. Jim and Maurice just care about their clients. Best gay resort in USA.

Gigis restaurant on property is beautiful open air with pretty good food. Pool area with bar is very nice. During this stay the pool bartender wasn't very pleasant and disappeared for most of his shift. It was Friday afternoon and most of the guests wanted to unwind with a drink.

Pool Day Perfection at Ace Hotel Swim Club!…read more As frequent users of ResortPass and seekers of new hotel pools, we took a mini road trip out to Palm Springs to finally visit the Ace Hotel Swim Club, and it did not disappoint! Parking can be a challenge, but luck was on our side with a spot out front. Check-in was easy: the lobby staff greeted us with a smile and directed us to the pool gate, where we were quickly checked in and given wristbands for our reserved daybed. I loved that they brought over a bucket of ice and carafes of ice cold water to keep us cool in the 100+ degree sun! The pool itself was a great size, with an 8-foot deep end, crisp and refreshing, exactly what we needed. We arrived to a relaxed Sunday vibe (with a live DJ spinning noon to 5pm). Floaties were provided and definitely added to the fun! We ordered delicious food and drinks from the bar, enjoyed the tunes, and made the most of the small jacuzzi and the huge, clean bathrooms with showers. There's even a connected spa area you can access with a separate day pass or as a pool day add-on. After our swim, we showered off and enjoyed the outdoor bar area, watching the Dodgers game beneath the misters once the sun went down. All in all, we had a fantastic experience and now we're even more excited to come back and stay for the full Ace Hotel experience!

Saturday was AMAZING! The DJ had everyone dancing, the music was on point, and the pool had exactly the fun party atmosphere you expect during Labor Day weekend. Sunday was the complete opposite. The music was boring, the energy was gone, and people were literally sitting around looking bored and falling asleep instead of dancing. A holiday pool party is supposed to be FUN, and the DJ really makes or breaks the experience. I do want to give a HUGE shoutout to our server Carla! She was absolutely amazing and did everything she could to make our experience and vibe better. Her service and attitude were excellent. Manager Grace was also amazing! She listened to our concerns and actually tried to help the DJ understand that the vibe was just NOT IT. We really appreciated her stepping in and trying to turn things around.Unfortunately, the DJ dis not have verity type of music.. The staff deserves , especially Carla and Grace. Saturday's DJ also gets 5 stars. But Sunday's DJ? Definitely needs to understand the crowd and bring the energy especially on a big holiday weekend!

All the front desk clerks went above and beyond to help me feel at home. The grounds are beautiful with several swimming pools and fountains. Very cute little rooms with decorative fireplaces (wish they were real! But still cute.) The front desk area has a nice fireplace you can sit by to enjoy your complimentary welcome drink. One of the other highlights was their excellent restaurant, the Del Ray, which had some of the best gazpacho and drinks I've had around here, and a fantastic bartender. I will definitely be back to the Villa Royale!
