(This is actually a review for 'El Puente' located in Av. Corrientes 6001, esquina Humboldt)
Even though there's another El Puente a couple of steps away, I had never even thought about going in: there's something about the cramped 'almacén de barrio' style that doesn't appeal to me and I tend to avoid those places in favor of those were I don't have to do much talking in fear of embarrassing myself. That's why this particular supermarket-style El Puente is definitely my favorite.
Since they specialize in and make their own dairy products, expect to find tons of different varieties of cheese at really great prices. You can pick the already packaged cuts or ask for something special to the staffers behind the huge blocks of cheese in the counter. Nothing too fancy, though, but it gets the job done. Apart from cheese, they also make their own yogurt, cream and butter.
They have a bakery on site with pastries, bread, cakes and cookies as well. The supermarket sells the usual: frozen goods, beverages, snacks, spices, etc. It has pretty much anything a small supermarket can offer, and at a lower price. There's a Dia% and a Carrefour Express nearby, but to me, they can't beat what El Puente has to offer.
They accept credit cards. read more
