What a great experience we had a El Patron Grill! Honestly, this wasn't our first pick but due to the situation I'm glad we ended up here. We came for a weekday lunch on a rainy day. When we arrived we were sat immediately and were probably the 5th table in the good sized restaurant. Our waiter arrived and took our drink orders quickly. It took a few more minutes before he came back to take our food order. While the menu is pretty large it is not huge. That's good IMO because they understand what each dish takes better. My Michelada was excellent! I don't mean because of the showy shrimp and cucumber with Chamoy and Tajin. I mean it was one of the best ones I've ever tasted and I've had a lot. Our food came out and was really good. I got Chipotle Chicken which came on a sizzling platter with a chipotle cheese sauce, onions and peppers, and rice on the side with tortillas. Lip smacking'! I asked for some home made hot sauce as well. It was pretty good but due to the amount of tomatillos in it I found it a tad bit too tangy. The others in my party were apparently happy with their meals because all of their food was gone. If driving through Elizabethtown or vacationing at White Lake and have a taste for Mexican, stop by El Patron and leave full and happy. read more

I think this is the new Mexican eatery in town and while the exterior of the building is beautiful, the food and dining experience wasn't special. I visited this location with my co-workers and there weren't many people dining in during lunch time, but for some reason it took forever to get our food. I ordered the taco salad and it was bland, well the chicken was bland. I wasn't pleased, but I wasn't upset, I just decided that I won't return. I think this place would be better if they seasoned their food better or maybe I should try another dish....not sure, but I'm not going back. read more

Only one vegetarian option on the menu. We ordered it and it was mediocre. After they brought the food, the waiter never returned. He never asked if we needed anything or if the food was good, etc. Meanwhile, he visited the tables all around us and chatted up those customers. We'd not visited in a while and was surprised by how dirty the place had become. The booths need seating replaced since the seats are torn and have black smudges. read more

We had a group meeting in the large room towards the back, but first we went to the bar to grab a drink and even though they were short staffed they were great! The drinks were amazing and the food was good as well. The servers worked together as a team to really keep the restaurant going all night. Great place and totally recommend! read more

We have been to El Patron before. We have never been disappointed. We went out for lunch yesterday, and could not have come away happier. We were greeted promptly upon entry, had our drinks within three minutes and a delicious custom made lunch within six minutes. My husbands chicken burrito, chicken taco, and rice were beautifully executed with perfect salsa accompaniments and temperature. My shrimp quesadilla had marks fresh from the grill and the cheese was melted as it should be. I was raised at the beach, and I know how shrimp should be cooked. These were delicately prepared (as shrimp should be) and so delicious. There were fresh cut pieces of peppers throughout the rice. I asked for green sauce (verde) to have with my entree and it arrived within a minute. Husband had water while I had iced tea. It was just right-not too sweet, but sweet enough. I LOVE their ice! Soft nuggets that I wish I could have at home. It was almost like a dessert to me-like a snow cone,perhaps. It was just the icing on the cake of an outstanding meal. Our waiter checked on us throughout the meal without being overly intrusive. When it came time to leave, we were provided with To-go boxes and a small container with lid for my extra Salsa Verde. The deliciousness, excellent service, and modest prices will have us coming back even more often. We had our leftovers for dinner tonight, which I can rave about just as much. What makes us even happier is that we ate a delicious lunch and dinner for far less than we could have prepared it ourselves. It made us both feel good to leave a larger tip than was called for because the circumstances were so perfect. What a gem of a place to have so close to home-especially since we have so few restaurants to choose from. By the way, the waiters were all clean, well groomed, articulate, and professional. Great place. I spent this summer as intern in NC living around White Lake. We ate here at least once a week, but most weeks two or three times. It was always fast service, good food, and reasonably priced. It's always been very very good, but never very busy which makes no sense to me. All the Mexican restaurants back home are always packed and this one was way better in every aspect than the ones back home. read more

My wife and I come to White Lake for our anniversary every year. We love Mexican food and we always go to San Jose. However, the last couple of years we noticed things were getting a little grungy, so we were excited to see a new Mexican restaurant in the area. Everything is new, so it is clean - we just hope it stays that way! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and portions were big. We have now been to El Patron (for take out) 3 times over the past couple of months, We have sampled multiple items from their menu including their combo plate, burritos, tacos, and deserts... Everything we tried was cooked and spiced to perfection.... On top of that, they do not skimp on portion sizes.... I am not a skimpy eater, but each dish I have ordered there has been adequate for 2 generous meals worth of food.... We come to White Lake every year. Usually we always eat at San Jose. Went there last night, only 7 cars in parking lot, but said it would be a 40 minute wait for a table for 5 people. So we left and went to El Patron and let me tell you. FANTASTIC food, service and atmosphere. Never will be go back to the "other place." Only El Patron for us. Give it a try, you will LOVE it. read more
