Horrible service from the get-go. Based on the good reviews, I hunted this place down and arrived about 4:50. Instead of being invited in, I was told that they were not open until 5. I asked if that meant I had to leave and come back at 5, to which the waitress replied that I could sit outside and order a drink, but I could not receive the happy hour price until 5 pm (a whole ten minutes later). When I finally got the happy hour margarita (5.50 Eur), it was tiny and warm (no ice). I can't believe they normally charge 8.50 Eur for that! Later when I wanted to order some food, I asked if I could mix the different enchilada sauces, even if it meant paying a little extra, but the waitress firmly replied no, that is not possible. Their perspective on service is all wrong and they'll likely find that customers won't return somewhere that their business isn't appreciated. read more

I have to give a big tip of my hat to this place. In comparison to other Mexican joints in town *cough cough Milagros cough cough* this one really does live up to its reputation. Though I had never been there before, I decided I wanted to try it for my birthday dinner.....a risky move, but I'm glad I took the risk. My friends and I took full advantage of the Happy Hour from 5 to 7pm. Even if the drinks hadn't been at Happy Hour prices, they still would be worth the money. No skimping on alcohol here! Also, upon being told it was my birthday, the owner (pretty sure his name was Jorge) sent out a round of shots and played not one but TWO birthday songs for me. Jorge really is a nice guy and makes you feel like he appreciates your business. Now on to the food. I had the enchiladas de mole and I must say it was really on point! The mole sauce was out of this world. It was the first time since I moved to Munich that I was able to enjoy great, authentic Mexican. From the chocolate, to the chilis, to the spices....it was like you could taste every separate ingredient in the sauce and it all blended together perfectly. As far as Mexican food in Germany goes, this is a pretty decent spot. However, I have to say, if this restaurant was anywhere in the United States it would get a much lower star rating. That being said, I was just there for a friend of mine's birthday celebration, and I wasn't totally disappointed. They have a happy hour from 5pm until 7 where their margaritas are 5 euros! So we obviously endulged in the margaritas until the very last second before 7pm. I ordered the enchiladas mole, and I was pleasantly surprised. The spice was right, and there was actually a kick to it! I would go back again if I had a real craving for Mexican food. However, it is important to note that when living in Munich you must lower your standards for quality Mexican food, because you will always be disappointed. But, El Patio is actually much better than the other places I have tried here in Munich. I would definitely suggest it to a friend. read more

Who would have thought that Munich would have an authentic Mexican food restaurant! El Patio is all that and more. Holding true to it's Mexican roots, down to the cilantro that hasn't bloomed, this place has food that would make my abula proud. To make this even better they have a truly authentic menu complete with gluten free options (wheat was brought in by the Europeans). In addition they have a strong veggie selection and dessert that will make you want it again. I highly recommend this to anyone who may be interested in Mexicana cusine in Munich. read more

This is the ONLY Mexican restaurant that I have found in München. Nothing else (I've tried them all) comes even close to the food here. It's not 'real' Mexican food because if it was, the food and drinks would rate a 1 Pound mark instead of 3 Pounds. In any case. Jorge is a very friendly host even if his wife can be a tad... well, unfriendly. We love their Happy Hour and their drinks. Again, compared to everywhere else in town, El Patio is definitely the most authentic and easily the best tasting. I just wish it were about 1/2 the price. read more

Visiting Munich with my wife and found this wonderful Mexican food oasis. Friendly staff and family owned. Jorge the owner recommended several entrees, we decided on the enchilada Verde and chimichanga, both were excellent. Fresh and prepared perfectly. Prior to our meal we enjoyed homemade salsa and chips that were out of this world. Also, the golden margaritas helped make it a perfect meal If you had ever told me I would have found this type of Mexican food in Munich, I would have called you crazy. We visited this small restaurant in a group of four and we were all very satisfied! The food is authentic, the cocktails are well mixed, and the price list is reasonable. Only negative note: we found that the starters were a bit overprices, given the small portions. Service was good and the atmosphere easygoing. Reservation highly recommended! read more

The best Mexican bar in town! Awesome authentic food and good cocktails. But please, if you want to eat burgers or vegetarian or drink non-alcoholic drinks, why do you go for a Mexican? Go to Mac Donald's and save your useless critics. El mejor bar latinoamericano en Munich. Los cócteles son divinos, a mi me gusta el Margarita clásico, e la comida es auténtica! Las Tequilas son muy variadas y preciosas. Nunca más otros bares latinos para comer burritos o fajitas. Wenn ihr schon weißt wie ein gutes authentisches Mexikanisches Gericht schmecken soll, nur denn können sie die aussergewöhnliche Qualität dieses Bars genießen. Das ist nicht für Anfänger oder für Burger Fresser. Die Tequilas Auswahl ist so breit dass kaum ein Mexikaner selbst alle die Sorte probiert hat. Die Gerichte sind frisch vorbereitet mit gute Zutaten und richtige Menge, so dass noch ein Nachtisch Platz finden kann. Entspannende Atmosphäre und familiäre Gefühl. As a native Californian, at first I was very skeptical to try El Patio, because my experience with Mexican restaurants in Germany was always rather disappointing. But I was ASTOUNDED at the quality and taste of the food here. Not only was the food authentic (and delicious), but the owner was so nice! This is in my personal opinion (and im from mexico:)) the best and more authentic mexican food, they just not only have delicius food but also real mexican tequila of the best quality like tequila Don Julio or Tequila Corralejo in München i never had a good tequila before in any other restaurant. read more

Mm lecker! Best Mexican I've had in Munich by far. Nothing even compares. Authentic food, great fajitas, yummy spicy hot sauce on the table. And I love the Michaelada Especial. Haven't seen it anywhere else in this city. read more

My husband and I have been in Munich for one year and have tried many of the Mexican eateries in town, having come here from Texas we compare what we know and we simply LOVE the food, drinks, and service at El Patio. The owners George and Verena introduced themselves on our first visit and explained the menu to us. They are from Mexico City so the food is very authentic. We brought friends there last night and everyone enjoyed the food and the margaritas. Looking forward to their Cinco de Mayo event at 2pm. This is a favorite of ours in Munich. read more
