El Patio is a place we almost always visit when in Dyersburg. The food is usually good, and the service is usually friendly. The atmosphere is always casual and relaxed. They have lots of seating in multiple rooms and a nice full bar. On this visit, the food was just ok, and the service felt less personal - like they were just doing their job. Since that hasn't been our normal experience, we will give it another shot the next time we are in town. read more

It was late, but not yet closing. They had a crowd, but we were still seated in less than 15 minutes. The server was an older man, and the most unfriendly person! From taking the drink orders and rolling his eyes when one of the children couldn't make up their mind as quick as he wanted, to audibly huffing when one of the men asked about a menu option. He was rude from start to finish, frowning, and making it quite obvious that he didn't want to be serving us (or anyone) When he brought out my food, he placed the plate so hard on the table, the plate bounced! He had food set up at an empty booth that he was eating while waiting on us. No hand washing in between. I don't know if this is just a poor server attitude, bad management, or if this is typical for this establishment. But it was not a pleasant visit. June 11, 2024 stopped in for a late lunch, early dinner while traveling back from MI to TX. This restaurant did not disappoint. It was great. From the exception service to the outstanding food, every aspect of this restaurant was fantastic. Makes me wish I lived in or near Dyersburg so I could partake routinely. Even the decor was nice with lots of room between tables. The staff checked on us often and were all very courteous. The food was well worth the price, which was very reasonable. read more

Upon arrival the cashier (now I know) looked at me and I told her there was two of us. She pointed to the host who was tucked over to the side. Once seated we gave our drink order along with the extremely runny queso I ordered. The menus felt textured from the lack of cleaning. The salsa was some of the best; I love their salsa. We were soon served tepid food, which as you can guess tasted like every other Mexican restaurant out there. The bright side was my chimichanga was packed with chicken, although it was slightly dry. The towel they used to wipe the table next to us looked dry and was sitting on the bus cart. I sincerely question the cleanliness, and the staff is not friendly. The atmosphere is alright. Usually quick service, good food for the price, salsa is my favorite, decor is really nice. You can feed a family for a decent price compared to other places and get a really good amount of food. Finding an excellent Mexican Restaurant in West Tennesee is easy to do, just come to El Patio. This place looks like it was remodeled in the last 3-5 years and they did an excellent job. The Santa Barbara Mission feel is accented by a hand-made tortilla station, large colorful tiled mosaics and some interesting Frida Kahlo and Botero artwork ( I think it was Botero who drew the larger round happy figures) . The salsa was very good and not to spicy although it was a little on the runny side, thats just personal preference, I would gladly go back and drink it with a straw. What I really enjoyed about this place was the Chile Bola. I could say its just a stuffed pepper but instead I will say its a refreshing alternative to a chile relleno, no breading and no deep frying means you will not feel like you just ate a boat load of saturated fat and sodium. I don't think my server gave me his name and he accomplished his objective in serving me but it wasn't like walking into a waffle house. Also , the water just takes awesome in this part of the country so skip the soda and enjoy some H2O. There was also a bar that looks like it seats about a dozen with pink backlight. If I still got boozy I am sure I would have been persuaded to meander over, but , alas, the sober life is the good life. This was my first time visiting. The food was not bad. But........ the service was awful. When we first walked in the two host did not acknowledge us at all. One of them looked over at us, and kind of rolled her eyes. Finally, after standing there, one of the girls grabbed two menus and asked if we wanted a booth or a table. Brought us to the table and didn't say anything and walked away. Waiter came to the table didn't really say much and wouldn't even look at us kept looking around everywhere else. I ordered fajitas and food came out pretty quick, but had to wait for over 15 minutes for tortillas. When I asked for them because it usually comes with the meal. I got another eye roll and not even a response. No one was smiling, except for one older waiter. Well, I wish we had got for our waiter. When I asked for it to go box for my food again it seemed like they were being inconvenienced. Awesome guacamole! Fresh, fresh ingredients with awesome smokey flavor. Salsa tasty, but not as spicy as I like, but about all the locals can tolerate :). The portions are huge.. and sharing is accommodated without objection. Their menu goes on for pages and pages, and available for take-out. I took a take out menuy with me to plan for my next visit.. I suspect that whatever you want in the world of Mexican food, they will accommodate. The Cheeses in queso, enchiladas, etc. is the best ever! It is a white, presumably mexican cheese. The service is unbelievable, seeing that you always have chips, salsa and water.The taco, is for real homemade and The fajitas, are savory and well seasoned. --- all this in a strip mall! They have several dining rooms suitable for families (VERY child friendly), groups and couples. There is full cocktail service with Margaritas that keep my spouse coming back! This is a favorite restaurant locally and it just recently had to expand by opening a new location. I, sadly, have only visited once, but I hope for a chance to go back in the future when visiting family in the area. The salsa was respectively good; I've had better but I have also had far worse. Our service was also excellent and our chips were refilled multiple times during our visit. I was happy with the numerous options on the menu and it took me forever to pick out what I wanted. Being a health-conscious person, I tend to look for things that have some vegetables whenever possible, which is part of the reason I don't frequently eat out at American-Mexican restaurants, but this place had an amazing assortment of options. Rather than order a large meal, I ordered a chicken enchilada and got a side of the vegetables; I was incredibly happy with my meal. The side vegetable option ended up being a jackpot, and, even though I thought I was ordering a small meal, I had more food than I could eat, especially after the chips and salsa. I think the garnish was a bit lacking and fish was so-so. Overall, the service was good and business seems to be pretty good. I moved back to Tn recently and my family has been raving about this new Mexican restaurant. We went for lunch the other day and i thought it was very good. So they talked me into going again wxcept this time at night. There was no difference! The queso taste like butter on popcorn, however i think almost all that ive had in TN is the same white queso that taste like a block of white queso that was stuck into a melting pot and served! Had the shredded chicken for the lunch that i had completely no flavor same with the shredded beef i had tonight! My favorite food is mexican and have worked along side many great mexican chefs and i can honestly say they would be ashamed that all these mexicans that work there could even serve food that bland! It is only successful because of being in a small town where they have no idea what great food taste like! On now to the service, the guy from lunch was decent, however not the one we had tonight. Whats sad is i was told he is either one of the owners or related to the owners. I said i wanted beans he brought rice and when i asked for the beans instead he proceeded to argue. First off your in a service business "you never argue with your guest". When handling drinks you touch the bottom or mid cup, never the top where people put there mouth. He was so rude after bringing me the beans my cup stayed empty the rest of the night as he refulled everyone elses cup but mine amd each time he passed my view from a distance he would stare and i know because everytime i looked up he was looking at me. I like to watch what people do in a restaurant because im very observant. So my last complaint is not one manager was present on the floor, no tabke touches where you talk to guest to find out about their experience. This takes care of your guest and is last line of defense if a guest is unhappy, which most of the time a guest isnt going to complain in person they will write a review as i am doing so now. It takes alot to get me to this point but the service is what pushed me to the edge.
