We decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo here as we had heard good things about El Morral. We put in a reservation since we expected a lot of people to be there however it wasn't necessary at 4:30. We got a friendly greeting at the door and were seated right away. The salsa was tasty and the chips were especially crispy and fresh. Our server was helpful and attentive. The prices were good and lunch special prices were really reasonable. The holiday special was their margaritas and they were indeed tasty. I played it safe and had the Speedy Gonzales which was hot and very good. We would definitely visit again. It also appears that they do a lot of carryout orders. read more

I usually get takeout from a Mexican restaurant near my house, but lately, it just hasn't been as good. So, I decided to try El Morral tonight, and I am so glad I did! I ordered the steak fajitas and a small queso, and oh my goodness--everything was amazing. Fajitas come with a cold plate that include: lettuce, tomato, sour cream, rice, beans, and guacamole. Most places give such a small portion of these sides, but here, they really give you the amount you need to enjoy your meal. The portions were generous, the flavors were on point, and the service was great. On top of that, the restaurant itself is super cute and inviting! I'm thoroughly impressed and have officially found my new go-to Mexican spot. read more

Great food love it been coming here since it opened awesome service every time I go excellent location for great Mexican food

This is quite the hidden gem! I went here once with my husband and then decided to do this review a couple weeks later when I came for lunch with my daughter. It's never that crowded and I've always been seated immediately. It's handicap accessible. The decor/ambiance is what you'd find at any local Mexican place...but unlike some, it has a lot of space and room to walk around. There are huge booths for 6 and tables with chairs that would easily accommodate large parties. The service is impressive. The servers are always attentive but not hovering with is what I look for in a good restaurant. I love their chips and salsa A few of the Mexican places I've been to in the past have been trending towards salsa verde (not my favorite), so a nice mild chunky tomato salsa really hits the spot. And they serve hot chips! You'd think that would be a easy given, but lots of places don't take that extra step to elevate their free chip appetizer...so when I find an establishment that takes it seriously it always makes my heart happy. And the free chips & salsa are delivered within seconds of sitting down, also something to rejoice in. The food comes quick--and it's fresh, hot and delicious! Ample serving sizes, AND they honor their lunch specials even on the weekends! We eat at a lot of local Mexican restaurants on the area...and to get chips, salsa, steak fajitas, arroz con pollo, a side of beans, a soda & a water for less than $30? We will DEFINITELY be putting this hidden gem in our rotation! read more

El Morral Mexican Restaurant - Quesadilla Grilled Chicken a la Carte / Grilled Chicken Taco - Desserts Near Me - Beech Grove, Indiana

I had delivery from here for the first time and it really hit the spot! I needed a new Mexican place to order from as the one near me has gone down hill and El Morral will definitely be my new go to! It is what you expect for classic Mexican and I tried a quesadilla, burrito, taco, and chips and salsa and it was all delicious! The quesadilla was one of the better ones I have had because it comes with a lot of peppers and onions, not just cheese and protein. The salsa was also above average and rated home made! I am excited to try more items from here and to go in person! read more

Don't be off put by the exterior of this building, the food is something special! Went for lunch and was impressed with their extensive list of lunch time specials. Food was reasonable prices and a healthy portion. I got the torta and my husband got the chicken burrito. Chicken was perfectly seasoned with lots of flavor. Torta came loaded up with cheese, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Side of queso was delicious. The salsa had tons of flavor with onion and cilantro. Service was prompt and attentive without being pushy. Plenty parking in front of the restaurant. Will definitely be back, especially for lunch! read more

They give the choice of having food dropped off or handed to customer, the reason I always pick handed to me is we have nasty=ty neighbors who will steal your food or sabotage it with human waste, spit, snot, blood, pit,I believe they would add poop as well as. that is the reason why I want to have something that's going into my body handed to me because of previous problems from neighbors who steal or taint the food left in front of the door . give you a choice but do as you please . even though the customer has requested it be handed , the wife and I always gives $8-$10 dollars but after food is handed to us we give an additional $5.00 to the person delivering the order we placed . read more

Hey holy crap, had the boring ol' arroz con pollo and it was actually fantastic for once. Friday midday service was as expected. They were jamming out to some good tunes (?) I like this place a lot. I've been on an adventures for years to try to find a replacement for the legendary Javiers. This isn't it. (Nothing is; sad face) However, this is the best I've found as a replacement. read more

Wanted to try something new while helping support local restaurants. Mexican is always my food if choice and this place is close to home but I've never tried it before. The salsa is thin with lots of cilantro. That's how I like it and there was plenty. I have zero control around chips and salsa so I ate that until I was almost full and then tried my entree- Enchiladas Fritas. In addition to trying a new restaurant I wanted to try a new dish too. The enchiladas were stuffed with chicken then deep fried and covered with cheese and served with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. The chicken was stewed with peppers and onions and delicious. My mom is a very picky eater and finished everything she ordered - cheese quesadilla, chips and cheese dip, and fried ice cream. I had a bite of the fried ice cream and it was very cinnamon-y and delicious. read more

I've only ever had delivery and I'm giving it 5 stars, so continue with disbelief! The salsa is fresh and loaded with cilantro. One of the main reasons I come back is because they have fresh chips and homemade salsa. Their burritos pack a punch. They do not skimp on the meat and the flavors combine for a perfect and juicy bite. Hole in the wall that doesn't put a hole in your wallet. read more

El Morral Mexican Restaurant - Azada Burrito - Desserts Near Me - Beech Grove, Indiana

Nice interior with music contributing to the ambiance. Salsa is smooth, tastes great. If you are a cheese lover order the Enchaladas El Morral. Good cheese in the Enchilada (flour shell instead of corn) as well as on top with the Verde sauce. Being a Verde sauce lover I would have preferred more Verde and less cheese but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one! I took some from my companions carnitas, mmm, so it's all good! The carnitas were delicious! read more

Great to find Mexican food on a Sunday night, when friending for it. It was empty, an hour before closing; good music was playing (sounded Cuban to me, but I could be mistaken), but not so loud as to drown out the thundershower outside. Ordered the watermelon margarita, and was able to choose on the rocks vs. blended. It was, alas, made with syrupy sweet and sour mix and watermelon flavoring... way, way too sweet and gave me a high fructose corn syrup headache. Next time, I'll go for the aguas frescas -- they had horchata (sweet cinnamony rice milk) and Jamaica (hibiscus), both of which I love. Fresh hot chips and thin (but tasty) salsa brought to the table immediately; we added a small pot of guacamole, which was also tasty (not as chunky or spicy as my homemade). His Goatness got a Big Ol' Burrito, and DEVOURED it. Seriously. Disappeared so fast it's like it was never there. My order of enchiladas el Morral was quite good -- PACKED with gooey white cheese, with a scattering of grilled pork on top and plenty of tangy salsa verde, a lacework of crema. Probably more cheese than I've eaten in a single sitting in a long, long time. I think I'll come back for the lunch specials, and try more things on the menu. Pity I didn't see some of my faves on the menu, like chiles rellenos or tacos de lengua. Will keep looking. read more

Went here a week and a half or so ago. Stale tortillas. No chili flavor in anything. Poorly marinated, dry overcooked carne asada. Worst fajitas I've had in a long time. Chips were stale. Salsa tasted like canned tomatoes and cilantro, nothing else really going on, I guess that's good if you're into that, I like flavor. To say I wasn't impressed would be an understatement. I bet white people love it though. The service was good, only reason this isn't 1 star. The server was very nice. However, the manager seemed aloof and confused, and wasn't lending a helping hand to her, despite seemingly being the only person on the floor. I don't give a shit about ambiance. Ambiance is something only idiots rate things on. If you want ambiance, go to a fucking art museum or a cultural fair. read more

Just tried this place today. Always looking for authentic Mexican food. I gave it 4 stars because its just almost close to authentic but not totally close. It is in a convineint place lots of parking, located in a non super busy street which is great! Prices are really good for being Mexican food which is great in anyone's book. Now for the food this is the food I ordered. Chicken fajitas were not bad nothing too special. The Mexican rice is pretty good beans are fine. Enchiladas suizas: it was ok it had some green salsa that was a bit too salty but who hasn't over salted something by mistake before I hope thats what happend and its not like that all the time. Chicken tenders: chicken tenders were actually pretty good (yes I tried my sons chicken and fries ) im very surprised haha and fries were good too. Dessert I had the flan (I love flan) it was pretty good i don't care for the chocolate drizzle so next time i will order it with no chocolate. Beverage I had Horchata and it was so good i love Horchata my favorite! read more

I just love the staff here. This place is such a good size that you could have a large family gathering, a romantic dinner for 2 or Sunday church meal with friends. I like how they check on the tables but don't pester you every 5 minutes. They are observant with drink refills. The food was spot on. Our waitress was friendly and had great ideas to expand the menu. There was a mother/daughter team working and they were awesome. First time visitor and I'm already hooked. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant. Never disappoints. To go or dine in is a good way to go.

The food here is delicious. The service is also great! The ambiance in this place is so calming and peaceful!

I want to just show this joint a little love. Ordered door dash not expecting much other than simply trying a new mexican joint as I have burnt out the remainder of the downtown area mexican restaurants during quarantine. It was very good to be honest, and somewhat surprised me to a certain extent. I have never been to the actual geographic location but saw that it is located in Beech Grove. Cant remember the last time I was in Beech Grove but will now be making physical trips there for some mexican food once reopened. I got the grilled chicken salad and side of rice with chips, salsa and tomatillo sauce to top salad. Chicken was high quality and seasoned well (essentially fajita chicken) atop a bed of lettuce onion tomato, and topped with a drizzle of queso dip for good measure. And when I say drizzle, I really do mean drizzle. Enough to add that extra flavor to the salad but not even enough to accumulate at all anywhere beneath surface which is good. Tomatillo sauce was the cherry on top adding a house made fresh zest and spice to the salad. Looking forward to trying more dishes! read more

A hidden gem! The plaza from the outside is a little iffy, but that area is old, so don't judge it from the outside! Once you're inside, it's great! Always clean. The food has always been spot on, especially their steak tacos. Actual steak pieces vs the shriveled up oddly shaped steak. The service is fast and friendly. Their house margarita is better than any other typical Mexican food joint. I eat Mexican at least food multiple times a week and this is one of my favorites!! read more

I have been going to el morral since they first opened. All the food is great and the staff is very friendly!

What a great little place! Went for lunch and was thoroughly pleased! Lunch specials are also available on the weekend, which is so great. The lunch portion of the fajitas was HUGE. The arroz con pollo can be made with either chicken or steak, for no extra charge. It was perfectly cooked, and plenty enough for a delicious and filling lunch. The salsa was great, the chips were warm and fresh. I'd gladly and willingly go back many times. read more

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Check out its menu: all of the item that I have sampled were excellent. I have eaten here three times and enjoyed the salsa and chips, both excellent; the Michelada is perfect, I strongly recommend the Enchiladas el Morral which checked all my boxes. I asked where the cook was from and my sever said the Puebla area in Mexico. My personal experience has been that many of the best cooks come from this area. I encourage you to visit the restaurant and run the experiment for yourself and sample the menu. read more

This place is definitely worth trying. We will definitely be regulars here. Never would have went because it's a little hidden but we read the reviews and boy were we glad we tried it! The tacos were amazing!! They do not have ground beef tacos for those of you who want those. I didn't personally mind not having ground beef because the steak and chorizo tacos were like the tacos you get from the Mexican market or taco truck and those are my favorite. The chips were regular restaurant style and the salsa and queso were were on point. The rice was awesome just the right amount of flavor. read more

So, I was feeling extremely lazy yesterday and decided to use uber eats for the first time. I decided on this restaurant because it was close to the house. I didn't have very high expectations but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. 1. My food was ready and delivered in about 15-20 minutes. 2. I got the two chimichangas, shredded chicken and shredded beef, and there was more than enough food. 3. The meat wasn't seasoned as much as I would've liked but coupled with the melted cheese, refried beans, guacamole, and lettuce I was moorrreee than satisfied. I'll be going back. read more
