There was also complimentary chips and salsa served - at breakfast! I've never seen that before. The salsa was not spicy AT ALL. The green sauce on my plate had a mild kick. Our waitress was nice, but she didn't understand my boss wanted cold chocolate milk when he said "chocolate milk." She came back with hot cocoa and we all busted up laughing when she walked off. He has never liked hot drinks. Did I mention he's my brother too? It's a decent sized place inside. No frills. Kind of dirty. Small parking lot. Busy street nearby. I'm glad I got to go here finally, but it's no where near my favorite in Hobbs, NM. RATING BREAKDOWN Food/Drinks: 3 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 3 | Price: 4

This Mexican restaurant has been around long enough for me to remember this is where my senior prom date took is for dinner. Well over 20 years ago. Lol. I'm still not a fan of their salsa, but it's complementary and something to munch on while you wait. The chips are okay. My choice for grub was the #3 chile rellenos ($10.99). It was really good. Like a fatty, I nearly cleaned my plate too. The atmosphere was indeed decorated for Christmas. Carolers for a cause came in to sing and collect donations without being pushy or getting in our faces. They have seating for large and small groups. Our waitress, while friendly and efficient, was a little too efficient. Every time we needed something she would turn around as quickly as possible to hold fetch it just to come back for more requests. Ample parking was available on both sides of the restaurant. Please fix the hours on your front door! No clue when the open. (See my photo.) Oh, the business was good too. Very cool stuff on the horizon...

Very friendly, attentive, and made our dining experience great. I ordered the chicken flautas dish and my husband ordered the shredded beef chimichanga. The flautas were good, but not something that I would reorder. They kinda reminded me of frozen flautas that they just threw in the microwave. My husband did enjoy his chimichanga though. It was pretty big! Our second time around, we were a party of four. It wasn't at all busy, but yet there was no hostess in sight so we waited to get seated. Our sever quickly approached us with a stinky attitude. She was in no way in the mood to be working and had an unkempt appearance. Her way of approaching us was rude and our drinks sat empty a few times. My husband didnt even get his drink and we had to remind her about it. This time around I decided to try out the three crunchy shredded beef tacos and my husband ordered the chicken fajitas entree. My beef tacos were amazing and I will definitely order them again. The beef was so flavorful. The chicken fajitas dish is huge. It came with tortillas, a salad in a taco bowl, rice and beans. It is definitely enough for two! They have various dishes and we will most likely be back to try them out. They also have desserts! Thank you to Kevin for providing us with such great service our first time around!

RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4.5 PARKING Ample. LOCATION/AMBIANCE It's on the south side of town near the high school. This place looked nice on the outside and in. There was a variety of tables for different-sized groups. They had a few flatscreens and pleasant music playing. The alarm system was annoying alerting them every time someone came through the door, but I guess that's what helps them know when they have customers. THE GRUB It must've been the ground-to-sky flag flapping in the breeze outside with "tortas" on it that made me gravitate toward the Mexican sandwich ($7.99). Mine came with two small sides of salsa, a red and a green - neither of which I truly cared for because they were overly acidic and not spicy whatsoever. The guisada that I chose was delicious, however, the portion seemed small. The horchata was served in a huge cup & didn't disappoint at all. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB There is a kid's menu with limited options. I posted a photo of it. SERVICE Kind of slow getting up to the front on 1/3/2024. Then I realized they thought I had a takeout order and they were rushing to bring out two large bags of food to me. Lol. The lady who took my order was friendly and efficient. MY FAVORITE PART... There are a few options for meat on the torta. I went with carne guisada which I couldn't recommend more. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The salsas. TIP Alcohol is served here. Please have a designated driver.

RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING I parked out front on the street. There is more parking nearby, though. LOCATION/AMBIANCE I was taken aback at how spacious it was inside. From Turner Street it seems like a small place. If you go through the front entrance, there are tables scattered everywhere. The menu and register are towards the back. Order there. Pay. Take your little ticket and they'll bring the food to you whether it's for takeout or dine-in. THE GRUB My grand total for the 1/4 chicken meal and a large agua de Jamaica was $12.36. The chicken meal came with two juicy, tender pieces of barbecued chicken, refried beans, rice, lime wedges, bagged onions, shredded lettuce, two slices of tomatoes, a grilled jalapeno, and your choice of three flour or corn tortillas... such a wonderfully-filling meal. The corn tortillas were good. Not my favorite, but good enough. The jamaica is made in-house and is such a great compliment to the saltiness of the chicken meal. If you've never tried agua de jamaica, its colors are rich due to it being partly made from dried hibiscus flowers. And don't forget, this is Mexican food, so you pronounce it "hah-MY-cah" - not like the Caribbean island nation. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They don't have a kid's menu to my knowledge. SERVICE Amicable and blazing fast... at least during the regular workday lunch hour. MY FAVORITE PART... The barbecued chicken. It's just like straight off the grill during summer nights at my own house. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The place was packed for lunch! That's why I took mine to go. TIP Everyone - including the patrons - was so friendly and happy on 9/27/2023. Life is so much easier when you choose to be happy!

We went in thru the back and we sat down right away. The menu is posted along side the wall by the register, but they also have small menus on the sides of the napkin holders. The waitress quickly came on over and brought us some chips, pickled onions, and salsa. The salsa was good but the chips were obviously store bought. We got two Mexican sodas and decided we were ready to order, since we already knew what we wanted. We both ordered two plates of a 1/4 chicken with corn tortillas. I also decided I wanted to try out their papa asada. (Grilled potato) We didn't wait too long for our food to come out. The chicken was perfectly charred and very juicy. The plate is pretty big. It came with two pieces of chicken, rice, a small salad, beans, and a grilled jalapeño. They do have fresh guacamole and grilled potatoes for an additional cost. The food was delicious and the service was great. This is definitely your spot if your looking for a home cooked meal type of dish. They only sell grilled chicken, so don't go in wanting to order something else!

Burrito Beast is a delicious new Mexican grill in Hobbs, NM…read more They recently opened on February 4, 2026. This restaurant took over the old Mail Services building which I was sad to see go, but this is a very welcome restaurant in this small town indeed. Imagine a much more hip version of the chain Chipotle or the now closed down Freebirds World Burritos in Lubbock, TX. The set up is similar. Start on the left side when you walk in and just tell the crew what you want. Pay at the end of the line at the register before dining in or taking your order to-go. They have breakfast burritos, build your own burritos, bowls, salads, quesadillas, tacos, and "Beast Bags" which entais your choice of Doritos, Hot Cheetos, Tostitos, Takis, or Fritos. You can add your choice of meat, beans, queso, lettuce, pico, shredded cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Kids meals were available. A chicken taco was $9.99 and a chicken quesadilla - the same price. They include a drink. The inside is adorned with colorful murals of humanized burros... some folks might refer to them as donkeys. I really like Dante "Doc" Rios's work! (He's from Lovington!) Small and large tables for indoor dining only. There is a small parking lot on the south side of the building and a drive-through on the other. Restrooms were available. My burrito was a bit much for me so I have about half of it for leftovers. But my daughter's on the other hand, devoured their entire lunch on Valentine's Day, 2026. Our meal: + 1 Hot Cheetos w/Chile con Queso & Asada Steak Bag = $10.99 + 1 Hot Cheetos w/Chile con Queso & Chicken Bag = $9.99 + 1 Pork Asado Burrito (very tender & moist spicy asado, Mexican rice, black beans, green sauce, chopped mild green chile, cilantro, onions, and sour cream) = $12.99 + 3 Bottled strawberry Jarritos Drinks = $9.75 Just type in your mobile number to start earning rewards points. I was on the verge of getting sicker and sicker by the minute on 11/16/2023…read more My heart was set on birria. The trusty Yelp app lead me to Vaquero Taquero Mucho which I had recently bookmarked. They offered $7.99 delivery through delivery.com which was available via Yelp. That delivery price next to a $2.95 service charge was steep, but I was desperate because I felt like absolute garbage and I rarely take medicine when I'm down. I like to sweat it out with spicy food, cold wet rags, Vicks VapoRub - & now that I'm older - a strong, delicous homemade hot toddy! When I pushed the order through I got a text message at 1:07 saying they were swamped and would be late. The app even said it would be delivered between 1:44-2:14PM. I'm a numbers gal so bear with me... I thought I had time for a nice long needed nap. Nope. I submitted the order at 12:44PM. A nice lady with a smile on her face rang my doorbell at 1:25PM. My order arrived perfect and packed neatly with no messes that I've experienced from other birria places (not in Hobbs because I know of only two others). The broth, also known as consomme broth de birria, was not quite as flavorful as I have had, yet, it was good. I ordered an extra cup ($2.69) because I love to drink that stuff when I've got sinus congestion. The shining star was the Mulitas de Birria ($14.19) with sliced limes and extra onions and cilantro on the side. All four mulitas were still amazingly piping hot - and their brick and mortar is clear on the other side of town! The tortillas still had a slight crispiness to them. They did not skimp on the meat. It was moutwatering good with the green salsa, but that red spicy salsa - that's where it's at. They threw in a few of the cutest, smallest tortilla chips I've every had. They were well-salted. I knew I wouldn't get enough salsa because I never do, so I ordered an extra cup of that red spicy salsa ($4.19). Also, I ordered two jalapeños toreados ($1.58) on the side. Can't wait to be 100% again so I can check out this place in the flesh. Of course I've driven by. It's small and looks kind of dive-ish with bright colors on the outside. My kind of Mexican restaurant.

Their current hours as of 6/28/2023 do not extend into supper time. I stopped in to get an order for takeout since I had more paperwork to finish up at work. The "huevos divorciados" ($13) turned out to be an amazing breakfast. It's just like the name implies - divorced eggs. "Two eggs, one with guisado and one with asado on top. Served with beans and potatoes." Your choice of two corn or flour tortillas. The flour tortillas were homemade. It took about 10 minutes for it to be prepped. I had one more errand to run before I got back to work, but it was still all piping hot at that point. I only wish that next time I get some salsa if possible to put on top of my beans and potatoes. Parking is a gravel lot. Tables and booths are both available for indoor seating. The space is adorned with some really cool metal signs and bright colored decor.
