Be ware: L'amour fou has a new concept since 18th April 2016 ! Goodbye Burgers and Hello PASTRAMI !…read more You might be sad and wonder if the quality remains the same? Yes it does! The basic concepts that made this place great: quality "comfort food" and cocktails, remain! The cocktails are delicious (and they regularly have good deals and change the menu), the brunch also remains and seems delicious and the pastrami are great. 150 gr of smoked meat in-house (yes they do it all themselves - and yes, it's hallal) with quality bread (for now they buy it at "La Fleur de Pain" but will soon do it themselves), which just melts in your mouth, it's yummy! If you are not a big meat fan, then the salmon or veggie versions are for you, they are amazing! The staff, the mood, the feeling remains, so don't hesitate to go back. De House, the Gin place, just next to it, belongs to the same owner and I recommend you to have a drink there first or after !

The selection of beers on tap is decent, and they also offer cocktails and other drinks. They have a variety of food and snacks for those who want to eat or need a bite, and there's even a room with darts and billiards for those who want to take a break from their drinks (or drink and play). Side note: you'll need some coins on hand since a round is a few euros. It's a very casual and local spot that's perfect for a relaxed night out.

Not really sure how to explain this one - the previous restaurant here (almost identical menu and…read morename)...El Verghel...was an institution and absolutely great for lunch (sitting or take away). Sure it wasn't cheap, but the mix of staff and great food kept us coming back for more. Fast-forward to the present - apparently there are new owners and a (slight) name change. Suddenly the quality of the food takes an absolute nose-dive, despite appearing to be unchanged on paper. Example - the amazing slices of beef on the famous 'palta' sandwiches have now been cut back to taste more like spam on bread. Sure, it's the same kind of ingredients, but clearly someone decided to increase the money they could take in from subtely cutting costs. Do I sound jaded? Well, my suspicious have been confirmed by a large number of colleagues who made this place a regular lunch spot over the last few years. So I guess that's just that. Perhaps if you had never been before it would still appear as a good option for lunch. But I really don't see myself coming back here any more unless I am stuck. Of course there are still some good options in here compared to the numerous delis in the area if you are searching for hot food and a nice place to sit down, but it's just the drop in quality that really stands out as both unnecessary and a downright pity.

It's a cheery space with friendly service, eager to please. The Spanish tortilla was a bit dry, and needed garlic. The chicken tacos, well, they had chicken in them, and the corn tortillas were genuine corn tortillas. There wasn't any Mexican spice to anything I ate, until I asked for some hot sauce to lend some flavor, any flavor to what I was eating. When the hot sauce arrived, it was a halleluja moment that earned this place a third star. I received a ramekin filled with ... habanero salsa! I thought peppers this strong were illegal in the European Union. I was ecstatic. Upon finishing my plate of tacos, I asked the waiter if I could bring home a portion of habanero salsa and some raw peppers too. He happily obliged, and now I'm setting my mouth on fire in Brussels.

The staff is super friendly. We tried the tacos only and oh boi they were tasty. The only low side was the waiting time after ordering. But take the opportunity to taste some of the brewskies from Allende and chill a bit, no need to rush. A true Mexican experience!

We met up with the wife and a couple of her co-workers and were early for our reservation time, but it was no problem. We started off with drinks and they didn't have any Mexican beers other than Corona on tap. They had a few Belgian brewed Mexican themed beers, so I ordered one of these. The wife and I got the guacamole and refried beans as an app. She had been stoked for real Mexican tacos, so she got a plate of three mixed varieties. I order the Enchiladas Mole, as I had been looking forward to trying mole for the first time. It took a really long te for the food to come out, and when it did... What a disappointment. First off, it seems they don't have a kitchen? I don't know. It seemed like all the proteins were made ahead of time, as none were hot. The tacos were not really too good, as the wife let me have a taste. I asked my Mexican friend to taste the mole and he immediately replied, "That is not mole.". It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't what I was expecting. It was also cold. Lastly, they wouldn't split the check between the people at the table, which is their policy, but still, somewhat frustrating. Wouldn't go back.

I have been there with a friend and her 1,5 years old daughter. It is kid-friendly and the staff is very kind and attentive. We had a soup and a veggie burger and the little one had a quinoa salad. Everything was fresh and tasty! An the prices are more than fair! The burgers are on the small side, so get two or add a soup or small salad! Definitely a place where I will bring my vegan friends when they are visiting, since in Brussels sometimes restaurants don't really get the concept of being vegan ;)

First impression of Ami is generally positive - at 1pm it was almost completely full and the menu looked tempting. Given the demand for seats, we shared a table with another guy. While we ordered drinks (interesting choices) the guy waited to order, having arrived 5 minutess ahead of us. The staff were so busy that he was completely ignored, and discreetly gave up and walked out. Not a good start! Anyway, we went and ahead and ordered (shortly afterwards!) and were advised that the burgers will mini - i.e. better to order two at a time, or else combine it with soup. Good advice: they are delicious but are not a meal in themselves, even for lunch. My favourite was the Mexican-themed burger (I forget the name). Soup was some obscure vegetable which I decided to risk, and it turned out to be excellent - big thumbs up. Would definitely go back to try again - staff were very pleasant, but would maybe try and beat the lunchtime rush during the week.
