There's elements of shabby-chic, mixed in with urban farmhouse, and topped with DIY-modern and altogether, it makes the place feel a bit disjointed. Their TVs and music selection sum it up nicely: Dr Phil + a show about Orangutans, with "Good Vibrations" playing over the speakers. But honestly, I don't care much about the aesthetics, it's the utilitarian aspects that matter and they missed the target on a key one - The tables are much too wide. If you're sitting across from one another, you're going to feel tempted to ask them to "pass the grey poupon" - Not to mention the fact that if you're sharing a dish (e.g. fundido), it's hard to maneuver the sharing part. The food: I left disappointed BUT hopeful. The vegetable fundido we ordered was not what we received - There were no beans, the vegetables were not the vegetables listed, and I'm not sure what cheeses they used (it seemed like all, straight-up cheddar) but it wasn't easy to dip and it tasted like, well.. like melted shredded cheddar that sticks together in clumps with some squash and broccoli mixed in. The tortilla chips were the thicker variety that I like, but sadly they were incredibly greasy. B/c the fundido was taking forever (ended up arriving with our meals instead of before), our server brought out complimentary chips and beans. I've covered the chips. The beans were not what I was expecting - There was a crumbled cheese on top that I assumed was something akin to queso fresco, but it was not - It looked like "Parmesan-shake" and tasted like blue cheese. If that's your jam, you'll love it. My veggie skewers while tasty, were not charred, which means you miss out on a ton of flavor. The husband reports that 2 of the 3 cuts of carne asada were delicious, but the 3rd one was inedible (i.e. a cut that should have been tossed rather than served). The rice was rice, but the plantains were yummy. The service was a mixed bag - Our server was great, but our food took an excessive amount of time. We'll think about trying Misasa's again after they've had time to iron out the hiccups that inevitably occur with every new restaurant opening.

I tried all of their $1.50 street tacos, all heavy with meat, and a lil greasy in a good way. Aasada, al pastor, chicken, descada and chorizo. The latter two were my favorites -- stewed and off the chart flavorful. Al pastor was the next best, not as wet as some styles, and had good flavor. Chicken pulled, seasoned and pan crisped, tasty with their creamy green salsa. Carne asada was overflowing with meat, but it was a little grainy and were large round chunks, not like I'm used to. But it was super seasoned, on the salty side, still pretty tasty and super filling. I also had a very warm Champurrado, or Mexican hot chocolate. Great flavor, and perfect for a cold day. Cost was $2 served in a cute ceramic cup. Dining room is fairly clean, tables wiped, but the chairs are a bit stained and sticky. It is a bit of a hole in the wall, so expect very casual, fast casual counter service. Market has a lot of imported packaged goods, but they are priced a little high and thus sit on shelves a while. There is also another counter where they serve Mexican ice cream, popsicles and other snacks, along with a decently stocked panaderia case. I read some Google reviews, with comments about the two girls commonly working here and I think they're being targeted unfairly. Both were very friendly to us and helpful where they could be, but varied on their English ability. I was very impressed with the food so far, and I'll surely be back.

I can buy fajita meat at the local Mexican market and make fajitas that are 100x better than this for so much less including all the fixins.
