During the Christmas time they have a time when you can order authentic hondurian tamales for Christmas. These tamales are very juicy tasty and filling. They cost $4 each and are worth getting due to the size. We always get at least 20 tamales for the Christmas season and the owner is happy to do our order. She is very friendly and has know us for many years even if we knly see her once a year. This time we sat down to order some food. I got a classic Pollo Chuco (Dirty Chicken) which is fried plantains, fried chicken, cabbage or cold slaw, a ketchup mayo combo sauce drizzled on top with pickled onions (which i asked without since i dont enjoy onions). The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the plantains were crispy and salty. I have to get this item again as it is delicious. The place was clean and empty as we went early. A little cramped but not bad.

The crispy breaded shrimp entree was fabulous! There were 7 jumbo shrimp, cleaned properly, not overcooked and still crispy on arrival. They were plump and had a great bite, not mushy or chewy. These are the shrimp you dream of. The rice and beans was nice. Small red beans, not oily and not mushy. Proper texture of freshly made that day. The side salad... Ok, it could have been in a separate container. But it was a great side salad. A good chunk of fresh farmers cheese. Salsa with fresh herbs to dress it, and a bit of purslane I think. One of the most well known trucks parked here a daily basis is Pique Y Pase 'Pepin' and happens to be one of my spots whenever I'm in the mood for a good meal off the street. The Ecuadorian version of cooked pork is among the finest anywhere. Whether one rocks the hornado (roast pork) or the fritada (fried pork) platter, just know it going to be good eatin'. Don't be afraid to ask for more in case the portions aren't up to par. I'm also a fan of their papas con cuero, which are softly cooked potatpes topped with crispy pork rinds. All platters come with rice and a humita (sweet tamale). For their soups, they serve a mean carne guisada (Latin beef stew), which goes great with their rice. There is also a lengua guisada (beef tongue stew), which is also good, but a bit skimpy portion wise. The best is their seco de chivo, which is a super tasty goat stew with chunks of braised goat meat. They don't always have this as it tends to run out daily. When I first visited this truck, it was almost Spanish speaking only. Their English has improved tremendously over the years and I think the gringo crowds have increased steadily. The only thing that is kind of a drag is the fact their prices have increased significantly and they've become one of the most expensive street food options in the area.
