I was not going to go because your menu does not mention anything but soft drinks and Mexican food without a margarita just wouldn't do even with the rave reviews it just was not going to happen. Then one or two people mentioned the Margaritas and I saw a picture or two of the drink and was relieved because I Really wanted to try the restaurant. Loved this place- the chips were light and crispy, the queso was delish, kids menu with meals $3-$4. My boyfriend and I shared a single order of fajitas; when the food arrived he was sure I had accidentally ordered a double order- SO MUCH food! But nope, when the check came our meal was $12- single order price (we got the kind with chicken, steak, shrimp, mushrooms, and pineapple). We couldn't finish it with two of us, and we both EAT. This place was fantastic! The salsa had a little bit of spice but they bring plenty to your table and we never needed a refill. The chips were thin, fresh, and crispy and the guacamole was also fresh and had great flavor! We loved everything, including the service. It is far from the strip so there isn't much traffic but it's close to Walmart and Walgreens in case you need to stop on the way back to your hotel. We will be going back. El lago is an awesome mexican restaurant and we go very often. They make great food but you wouldnt know it from looking at it. They give generous portions too. I usually get the burrito and its huge. They having amazing cheese sauce and salsa so look for that. One thing i would say is i wouldnt reccomend the tamale but thats ok. To conclude this is a great place to eat and if you like it reccomend to your friends cause i reccomend it to you. read more

We are visiting Branson for the weekend. We love Mexican food and saw El Lago had good reviews. Everything was good quality. We really enjoyed our entrees (pollo com arroz and chicken fajitas). We also had queso and guacamole. The guacamole was chunkier and had more onions than I'd prefer, but my husband liked it quite a bit. Queso was yummy. Salsa was a bland to us, but overall we really enjoyed the meal and will most likely go back. Service was good and incredibly fast. read more

Busy place, but I was looking forward to a good Mexican dinner. First-the food was good. I had the 4 taco plate. That's exactly what it was 4 tacos, each with 2 corn tortillas and your choice of a very flavorful meat. It was served with limes, cilantro and raw white onions. Since it came with no sides, I ordered a side of beans that never came. I was charged for the beans, but it took so long to get our bill that my husband wouldn't tell them to correct it. Now you know why the 3 star rating. The service was so bad that even with the good food, my husband refuses to return. We waited for our menus until after we were served drinks. Then wait wait wait for our server to come back to take our order. Never saw him again until the very end of our meal when he came, we thought to bring our bill. He mumbled something and left without leaving our bill. We waited and waited. Finally flagged another waiter down to get our bill. Waited more time. Someone else came to clear our table so we asked him to please get our bill. Granted they were busy, but there is no excuse for service that bad. read more

Fantastic service and very good food. The chili rellanos are to die for. During the day you get a large chili and beans in one platter. In another platter you get shredded lettuce, diced tomato's, guacamole and a loaded taco for $6.99. Their free appetizer chips are thin and the salsa is great. Nice hints of cilantro. The fajita's are exceptional as well. Actually everything we have tried has been great but those were the two exceptional values. Add to that a pitcher of Blue Moon for $9.25 and you have a great deal. Regarding service? We have lived in this area 25 years and have never EVER had this kind of unbelievable service. Deserves one star, but gave two because when this establishment first opened, I loved it. They had great chips and salsa and I always got the steak and cheese quesadillas.. but it has gone downhill quite a bit since. I decided to change things up a bit and try something with ground beef. I ordered their tacos and was disappointed when they had almost no flavor. The salsa is now watered down and I had to chase my waiter down for a refill... as a Mexican restaurant that offers "Taco Tuesday" specials, I assumed that their tacos would be something worth trying. I was wrong. Everything at this establishment now seems to taste the same, bland. My family said the last time they visited, the food had an odd smell, like dog urine.. No thank you.. I'll go the extra distance into Branson and enjoy a tasty meal on Taco Tuesday. read more

My husband and I seriously make up excuses to hit El Lago for lunch. We live 30 minutes from the restaurant, but that never stops us. Their chips and salsa are really good and that's the first thing the wait staff brings to the table. Their Taco Tuesdays are awesome, $.99 per taco with a choice of shredded chicken or beef. Regardless, everything we have had there tastes terrific. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is fast and efficient. I seriously wish they would open an El Lago II near us in Ridgedale! read more

The carnitas were delicious! My daughter has food allergies and they were accommodating. The beans are great for kids. Super smooth and not too spicy, hey both LOVED the rice without vegetables. Salsa is fresh and tastes like Chevy's if you remember that restaurant. My husband had the chicken with cheese sauce and he really liked it too. After a day at SDC we wanted something close so the kids wouldn't fall asleep before they ate. This place was wonderful and affordable. The food here was SO GOOD! It appeared to be remote from the outside but inside there were many people. There were many dishes in the menu and the waiters were very friendly as well. First of all we were seated directly in front of a fire exit. I ordered a fajita chicken taco salad with no taco bowl and no dairy products on anything because I have an allergy which I said to our waiter many times. The food came out very sporadically (two peoples food came out and then 5 minutes later the other two peoples food came out). When my food came I didn't even see the cheese sauce because it was at the bottom and didn't even think to look because I made it very clear to the waiter that I have an allergy. So I mix all my food up and couldn't see the cheese and ate my salad and then I start looking at it closer and there is cheese all in it. I tell the waiter that it has cheese in it and he does not even apologize and he just takes it from me. He then brings me a brand new meal with no cheese after the people I was eating with were already done with their dinner. He did not say sorry to us or have a good day at all just handed our check to us. So not being very happy we go up to the front to pay and there are about 15 people at the front. So thank you El Lago for the lactose intolerance I will be experiencing in the near future and the allergic reaction that will kick in! read more

The food is good and the service is exceptional. The carnitas were some of the best that I have ever eaten. They were tender and full of flavor. My son had the Carne asada and said it was really tasty and cooked to perfection. Chips were fresh, hot, and greasy. My kind of chips. The salsa was fresh, flavorful, and not overly spicy. Guacamole was fresh with a lot of flavor. The prices are definitely on the low side. Actually quite a bargain.
