The venison with potatoes and bacon was savory and delicious. The piquillo peppers stuffed with celery purée was a great appetizer. We enjoyed the perfectly crisp skin of the mackerel that was perfectly cooked. They also have specials that keep things fresh. Price for two with one drink a piece was 45 EUR. It's a small splurge by Berlin standards but a steal for the quality and hospitality. The space is well composed and good for couples and groups up to 8-10. I recommend sitting inside unless you enjoy fellow diners ruining your and their palette by smoking or being interrupted by beggars. Look forward to going back!

First night out in Berlin!…read more I came here with 2 others and we were lucky to have a seats because it appeared to have been full from all the reservations! I suppose this is quite the popular place! The reason this placed captured my attention was that it is a gastro bar...something I enjoy! TKOKOA is a Spanish and French fusion gastro bar...something I have never tried! So here's what we ordered: BREAD - Complimentary Slice sourdough bread that should have been brought out way in the beginnjng. I'm only complaining because we were starving and they didn't bring this to us until after we ordered :(. I was surprised there was no butter given; given that this is a part French restaurant! FENNEL RISOTTO (3 Textures) - €6,80 This would have to be my favorite out of the 3 because it's so unique and I don't think I would have ever orders it. Also it is called risotto, there actually is none. The fennel on this duh was made 3 ways: chopped up to look like risotto, cut into thin and wide slices to look like pasta, and creamed into a foam. The "pasta" fennel was placed lm a bed of the chopped fennel and was surrounded by the foam and I enjoyed every bit of it! It had a subtle creamy and rich enough taste with no guilt feeling because there were no carbs in here ;) SUCKLING PORK BELLY w/MUSHROOMS & GREEN APPLES - €7,90 I immediately orders this because I just love pork belly. The pork belly itself was good; not amazing but I enjoyed it enough. It was tender, flavorful but didn't have that pork belly feeling. The green apples tasted like chutney which I didn't care for but the I did enjoy the mushrooms it came with. All of this was placed on some mashed potatoes and gravy, which was delicious because the gravy came from the juices of the pork, which I also used for dipping the complimentary bread! Yum! GRILLED SOL w/AVOCADO CREAM - €7,90 I was quite impressed with this dish. As simple as it looks, the dish was thinly cut and therefore had plenty of flavor in every bed! The best part of this was the hidden spread of avocado cream under a bed of fresh spinach! The creaminess gives this plate that rich taste and balanced the safely flavor of the sol. I enjoyed this one very much! JACK DANIELS ICE-CREAM w/CHOCOLATE SAUCE & CHESTNUTS - €5,60 We were disappointed to how long it took for them to prepare one scoop of ice cream! I mean were they still milking the cow?! By the one we were going to cancel the daily special dessert they were already making it. This tiny portion was quite delicious. I didn't taste much jack Daniels in the ice cream and the chocolate sauce tasted like hot cocoa! I liked it but it took too long to be fought out. Although the staff were friendly, everything felt slow or neglected. It took them awhile to bring ha our menus, complimentary bread, and out dessert. It's a quite restaurant for sure and the food was tasty, but since portions are small (tapas style) I felt it was pricey.

The "pulpo a la gallega", crunchy octopus? it had a plastic texture and the portion was really small, with potatoes overheated on the grill. But the wine selection was really good as well as the Crema Catalana / panacotta desert. Maybe i will give them another chance but i will not spend again almost 100€ for 2 people with this quality. From other side, the service and the atmosphere where very nice.

Unfortunately, many cities could not develop the full Spanish flavors I was searching for. Then I found Mariona. And I fell in love. I went there multiple times in the three times I visited Berlin. Each time, I was not disappointed. The tapas, though small dishes (priced around 8-9 Euros), were completely drenched in richness, both in flavor and textures. Particularly, their braised rabbit in apricot reduction (Summer). This dish was satisfying to the point where my Boyfriend and I returned twice within 3 days, just so we could indulge in the richness again. The chocolate and cheese dish looks deceiving, in that, at first glance, one may feel like the portion was not enough to satisfy one's appetite, but the richness was more than enough to satisfy the palette. We have this dish almost every time that it is on the menu, since it isn't restricted by the seasons. The dishes were aesthetically pleasing as well, almost too pretty to each, but who could resist, one bite in and you are sold. We would have 1-3 dishes total, and be full and satisfied. Oh heck, we were fat happy babies after each meal. The portions were perfect for the intensity of the flavors. I have to admit, we did not order the entrees, because the tapas are the star of the show at this place, and since 2 tapas plates equals the price of one entree, I felt more satisfied enjoying a variety of dishes instead of a full on plate. This seems to be a family restaurant, with simple, rustic decor, and nice service (our waiter even remembered us from a year earlier when we had come). There is a variety of wines to suit any palate. Disclaimer: the place is small and gets crowded quite fast, so making a reservation is key if you go around the peak dinner hours. Honestly, if you are looking to indulge your flavor palate with beautiful and rich flavors, this place is a hidden gem.

What we ordered: Esporao white wine, dry Tapas fried anchovies boquerones Mokfish Cataplana The atmosphere of the place is definitely laid back and chill. You should budget st least 2+ hours for a dinner there. You don't want to rush and it is not a place you would like to do that either. The staff is very patient and friendly. We had the dish and wine as a recommendation and they left us the time to discuss the options. We got complimentary baguette style bread with aioli which was absolutely amazing, we had to slow down in order to not overeat. The wine was on spot and we had it almost all done by the time the main arrived. Unfortunately that took a little longer but like I said this is laid back and not for the rushed type. The anchovies were absolutely great. They were spot on, crispy without being dry and served with just a lemon to squeeze over everything. The main was a little disappointing. While all was good, it just was not great. We essentially got soup which we didn't expect. The fish however was great quality and so were all the other ingredients. I think our expectations and what we got just didn't align in this one. The price was okay, maybe a little high. We had a 35 EUR wine and paid a little over 75 EUR. So, it was okay, but since we shared on main, I feel this was on the higher end. All in all, I would say bring time and stick to the Tapas and you and your company are in for a great dinner experience! For us, we miscalculated our time and had to rush out after the main to make it to the classic concert we had bought tickets for the previous day. So, we just couldn't lavish in the atmosphere and take time with everything. Also, I planned on proposing to my girlfriend/dinnerpartner that night so I was kind of antsy I would say. But that's not the restaurant's fault. Also, she said yes!!!
