The Rock Hill location is horrible. It took an hour before they took our order. We had to get the manager 45 minutes later to get our food which came out cold . The manager had the attitude that it didn't matter that it took an hour and 45 minutes to get our food and that it was cold. Our drinks came out with the ice melted and warm. It was the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

The only "Mexican" in this place is the staff. This is the worst, Americanized 'Mexican' food I've had, over and over. I say over and over because this is the only place my coworkers will go to celebrate. The service is horrendously and famously rude even when you speak Spanish as I do. This place is massive, no waiting to be seated for sure. I guess I would rather wait at a table rather than wait in line. I tend to rate a Mexican Restaurant right off the bat buy the chips and dip you get served. If you get a little cold bowl of cold tasteless chips with a bottle of red sauce then get up and leave. Just what we should have at this place. My favorite of Mexican food is a really good Taco but I do not like a lot of sour cream on anything so I normally ask to leave it off my food. In this case I guess no sour cream means nothing but cheese as that is all I had except a spoon full of hamburger. They really need to stop by Taco Bell and find out how to make a Taco. Not that Taco Bell has the best Taco but it is a heck of a lot better than this restaurant has. The drinks were pretty much right out of the bottle. Was in JCMO for a function and stopped off at El Espolon for supper. I was unwhelmed by our visit. To be fair, it was a Tuesday night and they had a very large table (probably 20 or so) that was probably the main cause of the problem. And the problem was a longish wait to order and a longish wait for the food. The chips were good/fresh but I was not crazy about the salsa...although my wife liked the salsa OK. My wife liked her seafood fajita and I got the Pollo Bandito. The quantity of food was very large although the quality was OK (still not sure if the big group overwhelmed the kitchen). Prices were very reasonable. I will go back again to see if we just caught them on an understaffed busy night. read more

While we were in Jefferson City visiting my Mom, my sister-in-law suggested we head to this place that had great margaritas. It turned out to be a very large restaurant in a strip mall. With a party of 5 adults, I was impressed with how quickly we were seated and served our drinks. At this point however, service became questionable. They were very slow to take our order and very slow to deliver our food. Once we were finally served, things improved because the food was actually pretty good. My only other critique would be that the bill was not itemized. This made it very hard to tell if we were actually paying for the items that we ordered. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to give you a receipt that states 1 burrito, 1 beer, etc. It was really complicated to figure out with our party of five. If they fix that and improve their service, they would definitely be worth a repeat trip. read more

My family and I love this place. We usually hit it up before either of the El Jimador's in town. They have delicious mango margaritas and daiquiris. Their menu is pretty generic and a lot like most Mexican restaurants. They are usually very busy in the evenings. Good comes to you pretty quickly and usually piping hot. I've always enjoyed the free chips and salsa (and if you eat them all you only need ask for more). The portions of food are good and if you want you can just order al a cart (don't think that's spelled right but individually). The servers have always been attentive and the drinks come in huge cups (woot woot, don't need refills as often). read more

We were "regulars", going at least once a week, many times twice a week. Many of the staff know us by name and we know them as well. Used to be my favorite place, until last evening. Went there for Happy Hour, sat on the patio and ordered a pitcher of margaritas like we have done many times in the past. This time the drinks were extremely watery. Looked to me (unverified) that they had a pitcher of margaritas and ice sitting long enough for the ice to melt, then topped it off with more ice. Looked like water with just a hint of green, hardly any flavor. I asked the waiter to please bring us "real" margaritas instead, telling him I'd pay for the pitcher as well as the new "real" ones. He suggested their Presidente' margaritas at $9.99 each, then took the pitcher away, although I already said I'd pay for it. He brought out 2 top shelf margaritas. My wife's was a deep gold color and tasted fantastic! The one he served me was the same pale green watery stuff! I put the glasses side-by-side and the difference was striking! Like night and day! I asked if these weren't supposed to be the same, he said I could talk with the manager. I did not drink mine...if I wanted to drink water I'd have asked for it. When he brought the ticket he had written "talk to manager". I went to pay up front in a long line, the cashier was on the phone and didn't acknowledge the manager request. Paid $20 + $5 tip (not the waiter's fault) for one decent drink. Total of $25 for only one drink...during Happy Hour! Been nice knowing ya, won't be back. read more

We are new to the area. We brought the extended family to the west side El Espolon for dinner when they came to visit from out of state. We were ignored when we entered and for quite while after that. They were busy, but several staff had come by the podium. We were finally seated and ordered. First to come out was pico de gallo...with a used band-aid in it. I was so embarrassed to have brought my guests to this restaurant! The waitress was shown; she apologized and took the dish away. When the rest of our food arrived, I asked that the management be told. She stated that she did and that the staff is repeatedly told to wear gloves, but they don't. I went with 3 other girls. It took a long time for them to get their food after ordering but I still didn't get mine. The waiters kept saying it was coming. 45 minutes later a waiter came and said that my order had been sitting there all this time. They had forgot to bring it to me so they were remaking mine. (All my friends were basically finished eating.) When he brought it I could tell they had not fixed new for me. They had tried to just warm it up and everything (which i usually love) tasted awful. Off of hwy 54 too far if you are just passing through. Service was quick and friendly. Decor typical generic mexican american restaurant stuff. The white queso dip and salsa were pretty bland but the chips were nice and fresh and warm thin tortillas. I had the pork salsa verde which was spicy and flavorful, had fresh diced onions and cilantro in the salsa. Decent but not really worth the detour for me. I lived in the Southwest for 25 years. That said, El Espolon is the only Mexican choice for my family in Jefferson City.

I love this restaurant, but I wouldn't recommend ordering over the phone. They had a really hard time understanding me and mixed up my order. The food is AMAZING! The service is wonderful and most importantly the margaritas are superb! I love this place and will definitely be going back. read more

No one seems very friendly. On one visit the food will be served nice and hot and the next time the food will be barely warm (they were not busy). Do not understand why people are expected to share a dish for salsa. There should be individual dishes for each guest. My biggest problem is when using a 10% off coupon. For some reason they cannot correctly figure 10% off. One time they will honor a senior discount and the next time they will say there is no senior discount. Come on people, get it together and stop charging the wrong price. I tried to contact management about the "mistake" but got no response. read more
