Very vintage. And not particularly well maintained. Visible damage to the sitting areas, which…read moreappears to be relatively recent (the tile work is damaged, possibly abused by skateboarders or rollerbladers or finally succumbed to the elements over time). I did not spend too much time here to explore, it was just a terminal bus hub to transfer between different SoCal bus services I utilized on my last trip flying to Ontario Airport (the lesser known one in California, not the one in Canada) and heading to LA County. Going on a tangent: So from my personal experience and also to prove that it can be done frugally, I booked the cheapest flight I could find ($20 on Frontier and opted out of all of their up charges for a one-way flight from LAS to ONT) with just my half empty backpack, then $2 for Bus 61 from the airport to this location to catch a transfer on Bus 482 ($1.75) to get to Puente Hills Mall. Time in the air about 50 minutes, and almost 2 hours riding on the buses and waiting for the transfer. The total opposite of glamorous travel, but it is definitely doable. Never did the broke college backpacking overseas routine when I was younger, but I think this qualifies as a similar experience with the aid of apps to plan and navigate your way around. So 3 stars. As a terminal stop for multiple bus lines and routes, this place is definitely A-Ok. And is a scenic location for modeling photoshoot as you can see from the Yelp photos uploaded for this "business".

Pomona station is served by Amtrak's Sunset Limited/Texas Eagle and the Metrolink Riverside Line…read more This is one of two train stations in Pomona, the other being Pomona-North station, which is served by Metrolink's San Bernardino Line. If you visit the Amtrak website and look at the page about Pomona station, you'll see that it describes the station as "Train Station - Platform only (no shelter)" which is strange because when I visited, there was definitely a station building! I peeked through the window and saw a waiting area with benches and a drinking fountain. I tried the door, and it was locked, but then a security guard noticed me and asked me what I needed. I asked if there was a bathroom I could use, and he hesitated and said no and that the station was currently closed, which leads me to think the station does indeed open but probably only right before there's an Amtrak train scheduled to depart or arrive. I was there on a Wednesday at around 8:30 PM whereas the Amtrak train only departs Pomona thrice weekly (on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and not until 10:41 PM. Anyway, the security guard then told me if I really needed to go, "honestly, I'd just go in the bushes over there." I had a good laugh about this, and I eventually did find a restroom and did not have to go in the bushes. The building itself looks nice from the outside. It's built in the Spanish Colonial Revival style with red clay roof tiles and stucco walls, and it feels very southern California. More eye-catching, though, is the pedestrian bridge, which allows you to get from one side of the tracks to the other. There are teal domes adorning either end and similarly colored wrought-iron gating throughout. My research shows that this bridge was a $1.3 million project! In terms of the layout of the tracks, if you're taking a Metrolink train, you actually will NOT be waiting station-side. All Metrolink trains (inbound and outbound) board on the opposite side by W 1st St. Amtrak trains board station-side. Also by the station is the Pomona Transit Center, which is served by several Foothill Transit buses including Silver Streak.

No This station has so much potential, but it seems that the City of Ontario is going to let it wallow and shrivel into an empty shell of its former self. It's clear to me that they intended to use this station as a transport hub, as there is a bus depot along side the station, which actually has two platforms for each direction. However, the bus depot sits with no scheduled service, and only one platform is used for both directions... at least you won't get on the wrong train. The station is unmanned, with two automated ticket machines. No restroom facilities, but there is a random port-a-potty in the parking lot. The biggest shortcoming is no shuttle or bus directly to Ontario Airport. There are two roundabout ways I can think of to get to ONT: - Minimum walking: Walk out to Francis, turn right, and head to Haven. Pick up Omnitrans Line 81 northbound (away from the station), and transfer at Inland Empire Blvd to Line 61 westbound. Get off at Archibald and Airport, and this puts you a short walk away from the terminals. This route will involve some backtracking, crossing over the 10 Fwy twice. Also, the 81 only runs every 60 minutes. Estimated time once you catch the 81: 30-60 mins. - Fastest: Walk out to Francis, turn right, and head to Haven. Pick up Omnitrans Line 81 northbound (away from the station), and get off at Airport Drive. Walk west on Airport to the Rental Car Center on the corner, and take the shuttle to the airport. Estimated time once you catch the 81: 10-20 mins. This station has obviously turned into a commuter depot, as the large parking lot was almost full in the afternoon. At least it gets some use. Otherwise, it's located in a corporate parking with nothing of interest for the casual traveler. Some interesting decorations though. FYI - No access from Mission Blvd.

Return is from 3:15pm to around 8pm if there's no traffic. These include a 20 minute stop halfway in Barstow Station. It's cheaper than a flight I get to avoid aiport TSA hassle. Pros: - Comfy seats and always a nice clean bus - Free drinks and snacks form tour guide person, often an old russian lady who likes to tell jokes that are hit-and-miss. - Free checked bag service where the bus driver can store roller bags in the under-bus compartment (although I just carry my small duffel bag onboard and tuck it under the seat) - Two free movies on overhead screens - Now there is assigned seating so no more needing to rush to get in line early to grab preferred seats. Cons: - No longer provided free earbuds to watch the movies. Bring your own standard jack earbuds or else they charge $3 to buy one. - On one trip back from LV the bus broke down, but they got another bus out for us in less than 30 minutes to continue our trip. - The free Wifi can get spotty at remote locations in the dessert, probably not good enough for continuous video streaming.

The white line before even getting up to the security screening was over 20 minutes long and the security screening itself would have been another 20 minutes so there's definitely staffing issues overall for the airport itself. As for the United Airlines terminal independently no sense of urgency to try to get a customer onto a plane before the flight leaves 30 minutes prior to departure. In general you'll pay up to $30 for parking if you park over an hour in the lot which of course is not United's fault and instead is the Ontario airport overcharging for parking. There's construction on the main entrance street going to the airport so expect to be late. You can't go around the backside of the airport to try to avoid it but All in all pretty poor experience in comparison to the 5 other airports within an hour plus drive. The United Terminal itself pre departure gets a lot of announcements some verbally some over the intercom so you'll have to get close enough to hear the verbals.
