    Side dish from fajitas

I had a splendid evening out with my family at El Charro Mexican restaurant. El Charro is a brother and sister owned restaurant in Irmo South Carolina. It is located in a shopping center and is right next to the shoe department store; the parking lot is tight but their is a lot of places to part.  The restaurant has a large variety menu of classic Mexican food that is at a reasonable price for the quality of food you are receiving. In addition, they offer lunch prices, kids menu, dessert, appetizers, and a cocktail bar. What amazed me the most about El Charro is the variety of fajitas they offer. You can of course get the traditional fajitas but I would definitely recommend trying their other options which include: Charras, Mexican, Texanas, Hawaianas, De Camaron, Mar Y Tierra, De Mar, Vegetarians, and Mixed. All of their fajitas come with beans, tortillas, pinco de galla, rice, and cheese. Tonight I had the Hawaianas fajitas and it was to die for, but I wished there was more pineapple; I loved the spices they cook the food in. The Hawaianas fajitas come with chicken, pineapple, bell pepper, Charo, onions, and cheese. In my opinion the price was reasonable for the large portion we got. The price was $23.75 for two. All of El Charro fajitas range from $14.99 - $26.99. Furthermore, if you eat in you get fresh homemade chips and salsa free with your order. If you like spicy ask for the extra spicy hot sauce they other because it will definitely make you turn red in the face.  When walking in you will feel like you transported into Mexico. El Charro has colorful walls, banners, Mexican music playing, and authentic wall decorations that match the atmosphere. In addition the place was spotless with no dirt in sight.  The service was very friendly and polite. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly to us. Lastly, if you are hungry and trying to figure out where to go to dinner, I would definitely recommend going to El Charro because I will definitely coming back in the future.

Looking for some great Mexican food that taste fresh and not pre-plated? This is the stop you need to make! The staff here was friendly and the space was very clean! There is spacious seating for small parties and big parties alike.

This restaurant is conveniently located next to Walmart. We've been waiting for them to open and it's been worth the wait. The food is full of flavor and cooked just right. They have a great selection of dishes to choose from. We've been here a couple times and have yet to be disappointed. My favorites are the fajita dinners.

What a HUGE menu! It's a lot to take in but I've been here twice and both times it's been very good. They have nice size portions and the service has been quick and responsive. In an area that already had several Mexican restaurants, this place has a chance to make it since their menu is a little different. They have lunch specials and loads of seating. Most of the seating consists of booths which is a nice feature. The prices are close to what others charge in the area and they deliver the food with some attention to the plating aspect.

Burrito Gordo - would not gat again

I never like when they add to the price if you pay with a credit card, which they do. The food is good, but I think they could come down $1-$2 on everything. The Burrito Loco, pictured with the tomato on it, was good. Nothing comes with it. The Burrito Gordo had a lot in it, but not a lot of any. He wished the shrimp was and meats were a little tastier where you could recognize them. The cheese sauce was good. The last one was arroz con pollo. Very tasty. I'll get it again. Nothing comes with either of these 2 either. There are some chips and salsa served premeal. The service was good and they were nice. We were there at 8, they closed at 9 ( we didn't feel bad because a family came in behind us). I mention the time because where we sat near the bar, we smelled what seemed to be nail polish remover. It was off putting. Maybe cleaning stuff? If we weren't hurrying to not be a burden we would have asked to change seating. Without a tip, the cost for the 3 were $50.97 which included 2 sodas, tax and the surcharge, but not the tip.

Food is amazing, more than gracious portion sizes. Staff was the friendliest we have seen in quite a while. Chips and salsa were out of this world amazing!!!! You can tell that salsa is homemade fresh! Will definitely be frequenting here often!

Check your bill. They're charging 13% sales tax and $2.00 card charge. Charged $5.75 tax on a $44.25 bill. Food was ok.

The actual inside of this place is well lit and quite at lunch time. I can see this place being a hot spot for drinks since there are margarita flight options. I had a Bueno salad add chicken and it was great. So flavorful I didn't need dressing which is good because it doesn't come with any. The tortilla strips and the tortilla chips with the salsa were very fresh and warm. I feel like tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant is so important and vital to the overall experience of the food you get. My bestie got the pork carnitas and he loved it. He even ate his leftovers cold, and it was delicious according to him. The tortillas came warm, however they did bring him flour tortillas after asking for corn but again the waitress doesn't speak very much. I'm not really sure why she would be waiting tables but needless to say it was a great experience and certainly was authentic.

The waitress took our order as soon as we walked in. She brought out chips and individual cups of salsa for each of us (the salsa was excellent with just the right amount of heat). Food was great and authentic. The Cubana Torta is another thing in itself! Huge, with hot dogs sticking out the side and the kitchen sink ingredients on the inside. Freddie got half of it down and packed up the other half to take home to his wife. It's a cultural experience trying to eat the whole thing yourself. Since the last time I was here they have added a very nice outdoor covered area to the left of the restaurant...nicely decorated and a perfect place to enjoy Mexican food weather permitting!!! Starting off with the chips, hand cut, and tasting very fresh with the salsa that was pretty ok. We tried the birria tacos which were fantastic. The consume was on point. We also tried the Real Mexico Enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice and beans were actually really good unlike most spots. Sopa was great. We also got to try the chicken finger plate for the kids and couldn't help but notice the chicken and fries were actually solid. All in all Real Mexico lives up to the hype and is a spot that I'd come back to next time I'm in the mood for any Mexican cravings.

Bummer! Unfortunately things appear to be slipping…read more.. The last 3+ visits I've had issues (we come weekly) Friday evening, we were seated and did not see our server for over 10 minutes. Finally placed drink orders, then realized we didn't have menus. Requested menus, another 10+ minutes, we get menus. While I my crew typically orders the same thing our guests had never dined here. Placed orders, food arrives, noticed we had no silverware...the list goes on. It just felt like things were "off." Fast forward to an early Wednesday night meal and almost identical scenario. Huge delays and below average service. But, the kicker for me...the same meal my son orders EVERY week, for months maybe even a year doubled in price. Five steak tacos was now 23.50. I asked and was told the 3 tacos are a meal and the additional two are sold separately. He has never gotten a meal, he didn't request a meal. He requested 5 tacos. Their mistake was at my expense. If a server is unsure he should request clarification. I let it go, because it wasn't worth nickel and dining over. But, it sealed the deal on my feelings. The service has gone down hill and the food/presentation. Wilted lettuce, unknown items in food, etc...something is off. Reluctantly, we are breaking up.
