Seems like your typical Mexican restaurant. Service was slow, but I was part of a large party, so that may have had something to do with the timing. My food was delicious - 3 fish tacos, which came topped with fresh mango and had a delicious side sauce. I would come here again, just for those tacos! read more

Passed through Georgetown and really wanted some Mexican, ended up at this spot. No huge surprises, which is what you want. Our waiter was so dear and friendly, personable but didn't hover. Food was tasty and brought out quickly. We must have gone through four baskets of chips and our waitress was on top of em. Very friendly staff all around. I don't eat here often but every time I have the food has been great. I'm giving a three star rating because I have gone in to get a gift certificate for Father's Day on 3 different occasions this week, all at different times of the day, and have been told to come back at night when a manager is working. I don't live in Georgetown and when I get off of work at 5:00 I go straight home. Anyone competent enough to work there should have the ability to issue a gift certificate instead of asking a potential patron to come back when it suits the manager. You've lost a sale! read more

I have not been in several months. It was the only place I ate when coming to Georgetown. It must have changed hands because everything was awful. The chips, the salsa were terrible. We left most of our food on plate. We picked around and ate what we could before deciding..enough. Lesson learned. They must have changed hands. I really enjoyed my cheesy chicken fajita plate. We were also given free chips and salsa and without asking were offered a free refill. My fiancée ordered a margarita and arroz con pollo off of the lunch menu at dinner and enjoyed it as well. The staff was busy but worked as a team to serve us quickly and efficiently. Spacious place with an nice atmosphere. We went on a Friday night and it was very busy. For one drink, a lunch plate, and dinner plate, our total was $33. read more

I have been eating here since it originally opened in Georgetown. I have moved away, but when I visit my parents this is a place I always come back to. However, I will NOT be returning anytime soon after today's lunch experience. While the restaurant has been completely renovated, the service is now horrendous. We waited 15 minutes for drinks and another 40 minutes for food. I was almost ready to pay for our beverages and leave, it took that long. The food was okay, but some of the plates were clearly sitting under a heat lamp for God knows how long. I don't know what has happened to the former management or the servers, but I wish they would come back. El Cerro now has competition in town and my family will definitely be giving the other place a try after this meal. read more

This place is a rip off short and simple. Absolutely terrible service and food and all at a high price. Bad experience! We stopped on a Monday afternoon. The restaurant was not very busy. We waited more than 5 minutes before we were even greeted at the front door.. The staff was very friendly but the service was extremely slow. The food was a major disappointment especially for the price. I ordered the chorizo tacos with rice and beans. The food took forever to arrive. I received 3 rather small tacos with chorizo and a tiny bit of onion and cilantro on top in stale shells with a tiny dish of refried beans and instant rice on the side. That was it for $15. Total disappointment! My wife ordered a second cocktail when the food finally arrived. The drink did not come until several minutes after we had finished our meal. My wife had a salad with a small amount of shrimp and was sick to her stomach for the rest of the night and the following morning. Bottom line is that the service was horrible and the food was very disappointing and over-priced. I really feel that this place is a total rip off. It felt like nobody was in charge and the wait staff was possibly preparing the food and bartending and not doing a very good job at it. The food was fine. I actually enjoyed my order of Carne asada and everyone else at my table liked their food. However, I really can't even believe this restaurant is not closed down by the authorities! The restaurant is located in an ex-pizza hut or similar chain. Honestly, I would have walked out but we were returning to myrtle beach after a long international flight that arrived in Charleston. There were high stains on the ceiling (hopefully just water stains but who knows...), the walls were not finished and the floors were disgusting. Brought the family here after a volleyball game and we needed a place where the kids would eat. Started with an excellent cheese dip and then I had a fantastic dish called Alhambra. Perfectly cooked steak, onions and peppers. Even the refried beans were noteworthy. My wife had the cheese enchiladas and she said they were very good also.Server was attentive and never let our drinks go low. Excellent decor and we were seated ummediately upon arrival. When we are back in Georgetown, we will surely stop here again. read more

We're locals so we go here about once a month. While not fine cuisine, it's certainly decent quality and with the quick chips and salsa, the kids are always up for it. As a side note, last time we went (7/7/13), it appeared that they upgraded both their menu and their food presentation. It's a little more upscale than it used to be. read more
