There was one waiter running his bum off, taking orders, delivering food, etc. Our Spanish is beginner level but he understood some English as well and took our order in an IPad type of device. We ordered two tortillas (fluffy frittata with potatoes), a side of refried beans and coffee. He also gave us a little cart of pico de gallo, habernero oil and a thousand island type sauce. Everything was so delicious and inspirational. So far, the best breakfast for the value we've had on the island.

There was a downpour during dinner but we stayed dry and comfortable. Prices are on the higher end especially for MX, but for quality it was worth it. Instead of ice cubes they freeze avocado seeds which add a sweetness to the drinks we have never experienced. Food: Green salad with goat cheese, candied pepitas and Serrano croutons: dressing was phenomenal. Tuna tartar: Asian inspired with soy style sauce and topped with avocado mash. Oaxaca cheese: squeaky cheese wrapped and roasted in a banana leaf, sitting atop the most delicious roasted pepper sauce. The cheese was slightly gooey with its characteristic cheese curd texture. Octopus: absolutely melt in your mouth, however wished the exterior was a little most crisp. Overall basico is a wonderful spot for good food and creative drinks and sexy vibes. First off, most things are open air and it's kinda warm (hot) out right now; but this place has cold air conditioning! Beautiful exterior with neatly trimmed vines surrounding the entrance and two hanging chairs. The inside has seating for about twelve people and is nicely decorated. We ordered two cold brews and a bagel with cream cheese. The cold brew was amazing and the bagel was presented beautiful on a handmade plate with the cream cheese in a handmade bowl. The girls working the counter were great! We will be back for coffee in the morning.
