We've eaten at several times over the last year, most recently over New Year's weekend and we…read moreabsolutely love it. The JJ Shrimp Taco is hands down the best shrimp taco in San Carlos, and we've tried a lot of different places from San Francisco beach all the up to and including La Manga. It has little bit of heat from the roasted green chile, but not a lot. Maybe 2 on a scale of 1-10. The shrimp is always cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the serving is quite generous. No matter how hard I try, some of the shrimp always falls out of the taco - and eating it off the plate when the taco is done is an extra added bonus! I'm a big guy and two of those shrimp tacos is a full meal for me. The Carne Asada tacos are quite good as well. The beef is seasoned and cooked perfectly, so it's much more tender than most other places. About 4 years ago during our first trip to San Carlos I ordered the Carne Asada "Donkey" - an oversize "Burro" (which is itself an oversized burrito). Despite it being delicious, I could only eat half of it. The guacamole is better than most, the margaritas are better than most and the beer is cold - but it's that JJ Shrimp Taco that is the rock star. The ambiance is "Hole In The Wall Chic". A huge palapa roof, open sides, plastic chairs, all sorts of kitschy t-shirts everywhere and the menu painted on the wall. Some reviewers see that as a negative, but for me it's part of the charm. Some reviewers have also complained about how they get their bill - number scribbled on a piece of paper, no itemization. While this would be a huge no-no in the States, I've found that it is common practice in the less touristy places throughout Mexico. I keep meaning to add up the total for what we order and check it against what's on that slip of paper, but by the time we're done, I find that I just don't care. I got a great meal at a great price. A typical dinner for us - a couple tacos each and 2-3 drinks per person runs about 1200 pesos ($64 at the current conversion rate of 18.50 per dollar) for four people. Under $20 per person including a generous tip.

We were welcomed as we walked up to the unassuming indoor/outdoor building that is JJ's. The floor…read moreis concrete, the tables and chairs are plastic, and the lighting somewhat dim on a cloudy day. JJ is super friendly and took our order himself. Our party of four all ordered margaritas, which were a good size and just the right amount of alcohol. I ordered a shrimp and cheese taco which arrived with an ample amount of shrimp on a fresh tortilla. Good enough that I ordered a second! My companions each ordered 2 of the JJ's tacos, which arrived with ample shrimp ensconced in a medium-hot pepper and a fresh tortilla. One added salsa from the condiment bar and all were happy with their choice. As others have stated, the bill is a number written on a sheet of paper. Prices are on the menu, so do your math in advance. We ended up paying the equivalent of $12US each, which was a good value. We will return to JJ's when in the area.

Stealing could be understood as a motive, but no. This was only destruction. Think twice before spending your hard earned dollars on Mexican property. This has happened countless times in the area. You don't have real property rights & ownership, with immutable, enforceable foreign ownership laws. Besides pointless destruction such as this, many Muleginias have made their fortunes off a gullible gringo, who lost everything they invested, to a remorseless liar. Renting is cheaper. Hang out a few years & learn who to trust. Not everyone that 'helps' you is your friend.

We were out late- 10pm for dinner and so many places had already closed, when spotted this petite place. There were a few tables still there seated outside so we figured we could go in without being too much of an annoyance for being the last table of the night. The wait staff was wonderful. His Spanish was perfect if his English needed help. My Spanish was more sign than spoken, but we got things ordered and he was extra patient. Our drinks were delicious. I had a limanade mineral- fresh squeezed limes, sugar and sparkling mineral water. Then we had Taco A La Diabla, Chimichangas de Cameron and Flautitas de Marlin. All were seafood base and delicious and very well presented. The chimichanga was very crispy, well seasoned, fresh and beautifully presented on a cutting board. The Flautitas were also arranged in a pleasant plate. The Diabla was by all means the best seasoned of them all and I swallowed them down so fast- Yummmy.

We ordered bloody marys which were delicious. I also got the chorizo, cantaloupe, toast & beans which were filling but good. The staff was professional but kind and spoke some English which helped but I tried to communicate in Spanish as much as I could. Can't wait to go back again someday when I'm in town visiting!

The location is in an area just north of San Carlos called "La Manga", so almost all the restaurants in the area are called as such. Remember this one is specifically Doña Rosita and is the largest building in this really tiny dirt road town. We ordered Agua chile mixto, cocktail de camaron, tostada mixto and micheladas. Everything was great. The locals warn about the raw food in the heat of summer, and recommend something treated with lime like ceviche or agua chile, or something cooked. The young locals stomached the raw cocktails no problem, though. Service was as expected. They were able to accommodate our table of 14 without a reservation. We got a free dessert because it was someone's birthday soon. They play this really loud, traditional song and blow whistles and gave a choco flan cake with a firecracker candle. This restaurant is definitely not low stimulation in high season. We did have a 5 year old at our table who absolutely hated the loud song and whistles, but she stuck it out as she's also a local.
