NOTE: it seems their Yelp address is not updated! Other than that, the easiest 5 stars to ever give.
The new address is Gran Via de les Germanies 34.
Came at opening time on a Saturday night and we were only able to get bar seating, where the friendly bartender served us a full menu.
The 2 of us started with a sashimi bowl with tuna and salmon of a very high quality, just pure sea flavors with perfect texture. Served on a bed of rice and a soy-based sauce, this was a easy and playful cold appetizer.
We next ordered 2 thai fishcakes which floored me. How does a Spanish restaurant do Thai food? This place does it damn well! The prominent lemongrass flavor balanced by other Thai essences (I'm guessing ginger/cilantro root/chilis) was masterfully done, with a very bold overall taste profile (paralleling that of jamon). My favorite.
We ordered the seasonal deep fried thai fish as a main, which was seabass when we were there. At 19 Euros for the market rate, it was fair. The whole fish was deep fried to a crisp, rendering the smaller bones edible. Served in a lovely thai sauce (similar to the fishcakes) and smothered with spring onions and chilis.
Lastly, the dessert was truly memorable: pumpkin flan with chunks of chili infused apricot, topped with a whipped requeson cheese cream and caramelized and crispy pumpkin seeds!
Cocktails were respectful of classic recipe and bold too (pisco sour and a passion fruit /lychee / mint / gin drink).
Dinner for 2 with 3 self-selected courses, 4 glasses of wine was 75. Staff spoke some English and were friendly and highly professional. read more
