Filet mignon plate
Alejandra C.

The food is delicious! This will be our go to spot for hibachi food. The prices felt appropriated for the amount of food they give you. I got the filet mignon, the meat was tender and well seasoned the rice was so yummy, I didn't think it needed any sauce. My husband got the three meat plate. He loved it. Totally recommend this place!

We decided to share the beef cutlet combo and the rice pot with soy sauce pork. I've had the beef cutlet combo before, and I was happy to see that the quality was still just as good as I remembered. This time, it was also my first time trying the rice pot dish, and I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The portion was generous and the flavor was very nice. The service was also very attentive throughout the meal. The servers regularly checked in and made sure to refill the fire gel for the hot stone grill whenever it started going out, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a solid meal and a place I'd definitely come back to again.

We arrived to our reservation and were seated almost immediately. Then the slowness began. Everything took forever. We even asked the waitress walking by if they had forgotten our table. We were a table of 7. The table next to us was seated with a party of 2 soon after we were seated. The table with 2 people had drinks and appetizers before we even ordered them. Their chef came and they had food cooked and eaten way before our chef started. Remember our table was seated and just sitting around doing nothing this whole time. We were at the table for a total of 2 1/2 hours !! The longest time of my life. Then when the chef started cooking he cooked everything out of Order. Usually fried rice is first. Then veggies then meat. He did meat, veggies then rice. What?? The veggies have changed and are not as good as before , mushrooms are thin slices instead of chunks. The prices are high and do not match the quality of the food or experience at all. As I left, I thought I would not be sad if I never came here again. I probably won't. Prices are too high for what the food and experience and hospitality were. Filet mignon $53 plus $8 for chicken fried rice, Tofu $35 plus $7 for veggie fried rice. With soup, salad a little bit of zucchini, mushrooms and onions. I understand the economy is bad and everything is expensive. But this is not the way to keep customers or make them Want to come back. I would have gladly paid more for a friendly staff and a good experience but that is not what we got tonight.

We finally decided to try Jazz Cat Cafe after always seeing it and talking about trying it, and…read moreoverall it was pretty disappointing. The service itself honestly wasn't bad at all. Since it was our first time there, we asked the waitress for suggestions on what to order and even how everything worked, and she was nice and helpful throughout the visit. One thing that already started the experience off confusing was that we were only given the regular menu with the QR code. Even though the all-you-can-eat option is advertised right at the front, nobody mentioned it to us at all. We only found out because we asked about it ourselves, and then suddenly they brought out a completely separate menu for the AYCE option. After trying it, I definitely don't think it was worth $40 per person. Another frustrating part was how ordering worked. There were three of us doing AYCE, and we asked for three different meats thinking we'd each try different items. Instead, they brought out three full orders of every single meat we mentioned without clarifying first. That immediately created pressure to finish everything because with AYCE you can get charged extra for leftovers. I really think they should ask customers if they mean one order of each item for the table or multiples of every item before bringing that much food out, especially for first-time customers. We tried the chicken, premium angus beef, and lamb. The chicken honestly had almost no flavor at all and felt pointless to even eat. The premium angus beef was decent, and the lamb was probably the best out of the three, but overall everything was still very bland. I don't eat pork, so we went with one of the vegetarian water-based broths since most of the others are pork based, and unfortunately that broth also tasted extremely plain. The sauces also didn't help much. Most of them had a really strong peanut flavor, and only one of the sauces was even decent, but it was still pretty bland overall. I honestly don't even know what any of them were because they just brought out multiple sauces without really explaining them to us. We even asked what we could add to spice things up and were given chili sauce, but somehow it still barely made a difference. I really wanted to like this place too because the food honestly looked great when it came out, but the flavor just didn't match the presentation at all. Their soda machine was also down during our visit, so there were no sodas available. On top of that, the table we were seated at felt really cramped and pushed right against the wall, which made eating uncomfortable. The restroom was another issue. When I went in, it was dirty enough that I had to clean up after someone else just to use it. The only real positive was that the all-you-can-eat option definitely filled us up, so we at least didn't leave hungry. I just wish the food had more flavor and spice because based on the pictures and the way people talk about this place, I expected a lot better.

Second visit, the menu is still the same. Lots of options…read more Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce: the Chinese broccoli is fresh, the seasoning is not too heavy. A great veggie options. Wild mushroom and angus beef with tofu in hot pot: there's actually not much of mushrooms in this hot pot, most are just tofu. This does come with rice on the side. Baked seafood in cream sauce: a good amount of seafood, a nice option for a one-person meal. Shrimp and egg on rice: there's a lot more rice than the shrimp and egg on top. So I ended up having just white rice on the bottom. The service was good, employees were helpful and welcoming. Everyone gets a free soup, we didn't get this on our last visit. Overall, Garden Bistro is not a bad option if you are looking for a Hong Kong style cafe. It won't give you surprises (and Wow factors), but won't let you down.

Every time we go to Rowland Heights, we always stop by here. There is one down side to this restaurant. Like most Chinese restaurants, the restrooms are nasty!!!
