This is most definitely the historical epicenter of Sitges that dates back to the late 17th century, the bastion from which the local residents fought off pirates and English frigates. The cannons provide proof of its former military importance. Its prime location also makes the plaza a popular meeting spot for locals and tourists alike.
After all, there are panoramic views of the entire coastline, and the views are particularly arresting at sunset. The Church of Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla dominates the plaza, and buskers surround the building (Video). The narrow area can get crowded, but persevere because it's the key promenade that connects all the beaches.
