Pick the type of meat you want your hot dog made from. Then pick from a number of special fixes. I got bacon lettuce and tomato with mayo. Absolutely appealing to the eye and delicious. The lemonada fruitta mente washed it all down very well.

Hogs is a gourmet take on the beloved Chilean completo (a hot dog overflowing with toppings, the…read moremost traditional of which are chopped tomatoes, avocados and loads of mayonnaise). At Hogs you'll pay two or three times what you would normally for your completo but they also have interesting choices like venison, rabbit or veggie dogs and topping choices much beyond the ordinary (quite possibly too many, in fact). The completo is a concept that I think is, sadly, a little lost on me. Like many Americans, I'm always down for a hot dog. However, when it comes to the completo, the toppings seem much more important than the weiner itself. After a couple of bites I was utterly covered in avocado, tomato, mayonnaise, shoestring potatoes and such but really wanting more meaty goodness. Overall, Hogs offered me a fine lunch but not one I'm in an hurry to run back for.

I'm walking around Bellavista when I notice this place is advertising a veggie dog. Having never…read morereally been able to experience the hot dog with loads of all sorts of stuff on it because I don't eat meat, I popped in and had to try it. My Spanish is really not very good, so it was a little cumbersome ordering, and I had to profusely apologize to the staff for my inability to really express myself clearly. But, I got their veggie dog "gigante", which is really a long hot dog bun, filled with "carne de soya" in sort of a loose meat style, then topped with all the goodies, and they have tons of them. I sat there with my hot dog, and inhaled it. Thinking about it, now, and only a few days from leaving Santiago, I think I may need to go back before I depart. Sweet and patient staff, a out of this world "veggie dog" with whatever you want on it, I couldn't have been happier. :-)

I came to this restaurant upon a recommendation by a local who claimed they have the best local…read moreChilean food and recommended we order sandwiches. He said the sandwiches would be huge- he was not kidding! The menu is a little overwhelming as there are pages upon pages of options! I ordered the Chacarero and was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich had beef, tomato, and green beans. I could only eat half the sandwich and couldn't even pick it up as it was so big! You can definitely share one sandwich between two people, as it wasn't as good for leftovers. The sandwich was delicious, however, the hot sauce on the table was necessary. We went at lunch time on a Sunday and didn't have a problem securing a table.
