Gabriela Cafe, named after Gabriela Mistral, a Chilean poet-diplomat, educator and feminist who won…read morethe Nobel Prize in Literature, is located in the center of the GAM cultural center. Just like the cultural center, the cafe has an industrial-like feel to it, that makes the cafe seem modern, open and fresh.
I have been here a number of times, every time with big groups and the staff have been very accommodating!
I recommend calling a week ahead of time to reserve a space if the group is large. If the weather is nice out, I would take advantage of their outdoor seating.
The coffee, teas and desserts are top-notch (they even have artesanal ice cream). They sell gourmet products that you might not be able to find elsewhere (usually from family-owned chilean brands) such as chocolates, teas, jams and even merken from the south of Chile!
