Upon arriving, my first thought was that I wished I had made a point of visiting much sooner. I had been missing out. We arrived when it opened, and the place was already buzzing with activity. Although it was busy, it never felt crowded. I found a QR code that brought up a map on my phone, which made it easy to navigate the grounds. We started at the Plumeria Festival, where there were plenty of vendors selling plumeria plants and other garden-related items. There was also live music on the main stage and several food trucks. After visiting the festival, we set out to explore the rest of the Arboretum. We saw plenty of wildlife, including peacocks, squirrels, rabbits and even a coyote. The walking trails are relatively easy, and there are plenty of benches where you can stop, rest and take in the surroundings. It was a great way to spend the better part of a day, and I will definitely be going back.

They had food trucks, agua Fresca (the pineapple orange is great ) They had table seating and lawn seating. The atmosphere was great and everyone was friendly and happy. Peacocks were walking about freely and interacting with the people- it was fun We shuttled from Santa Anita Park And it was incredibly nice and simple. I liked the event and will return.

This park is family oriented and it has so much amenities to offer such as barbecues, picnic tables and shelter, drinking fountains, kids playground, restrooms, baseball field, tennis (4) courts, hardcourt (basketball, roller hockey, and skateboarding), and sand (2) volleyball court. In addition, this park offer a spectacular view of SG mountains. Plenty of parking within the park. Park goers were friendly and respectful. No homeless/sketchy people around the park which is good. Overall, this park is the largest in the city of Monrovia. I highly recommend this park to relax, unwind and play sports.

Streets are narrow for residential so parking is street only so far, haven't located the parking lots. So far I heard two very loud cars pass by scaring the kids a bit. The area is very clean, there are gated play areas for designated ages (2-5 and 5-12). Swings located in each. The 2-5 area is train themed. The 5-12 area is habitat themed. Picnic tables are located between the play areas. Plenty of seating area inside play area. Water fountains and trash cans available. Bikes can be secured near a pole with bike repair tools. Exercise equipment scattered around.

After an afternoon of reveling with family and in-laws during USA's Independence Day at my oldest niece and nephew-in-law's new (and first) home, we all ended the holiday at the city's annual 4th of July fireworks show at Monrovia Library Park. A 13-acre park (daily park hours from sunrise to 10:00pm) with a bandshell, drinking fountains, outdoor fountain, playground equipment, statues, walking trails, and more, in proximity to Old Town Monrovia. Now that I had a reason to be in this city, I expected to further explore the area. Did we have an explosive time at Monrovia's Library Park!? PURCHASE(S) None to speak of; we just enjoyed the great outdoors and watched the fireworks! THE EVENT Used for several purposes throughout the year, this was their annual 4th of July fireworks show. Here were some notables: ~About 20-minutes of bright colorful exhilarating explosions in the night sky, it was an impressive presentation especially for a small town. ~Because the crowds were already large at the park itself and parking/traffic was horrendous all around the park, we found a perfectly good spot barely a block away to take in the spectacle. ~The sound system was still booming enough to be clearly heard from where we were observing. SERVICE In this particular case, because we were offsite as we admired the festive fireworks, we didn't experience any service directly tied with the event. However, in the parking lot where we were, the business associated with that (I wish I could remember the business) provided folding chairs, which was so kind of them - thank you! PARKING (Varied: N/A this instance): We simply walked a casual 15 minutes from my niece and nephew-in-law's home to a favorable site to view the fireworks. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots along the main drags of Myrtle Ave., E. Palm Ave., S. Primrose Ave., W. Lima Ave., and all surrounding roads (I didn't notice any lots) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A public space filled with greenery, trees, places to relax and sit, plenty of people-watching opportunities, and nice neighborhood views as you dreamt away. There was plenty of natural lighting since you were outdoors while electric street lights filled in once the sun went down. Generally speaking, outside of special events, there weren't any TVs while the chatter of conversations and the sounds of vehicle traffic (patriotic music played in the background for this event). ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL We were generally appreciative and surprised of the annual 4th of July fireworks show at Monrovia Library Park, and we wouldn't mind returning next year. Additionally, they held music festivals and other local events at this facility, which I would like to attend in the future. I honestly had no idea what to expect onsite, but I'm excited to find out. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $0.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

I assumed it must be the park so parked and walked in to see. Sure enough it was the park. Not too crowded. A decent size field for kids to run errand and a nice playground with slides and swings. It's a great place to exercise or just relax and enjoy a bit of neighborhood nature. I come birding here sometimes as well - there are some seasonal AND resident favorites of mine here like the Western Tanagers, Cedar Waxwings, Bewick's Wrens, Western Bluebirds, and White-breasted Nuthatches! There's squirrels and often rabbits here - I've also seen bears and coyotes here so be aware. If you enter from Grand Avenue, there are 58 whimsical stairs to go down - all painted in a rainbow of colors! A lot of locals run/walk them for exercise. The other entrance is around the block on Valle Vista Ave and only has a few steps to contend with. At the top of the Grand Ave stairs, there's a small park area with a couple of benches, a nice bear statue, and several bird nest boxes that the Bluebirds & Nuthatches use in the spring. Down the stairs leads to the main, larger park with picnic tables, playground equipment, and lovely views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Parking is residential street parking but there's always plenty. The only downside is there are no bathrooms. Tons of people walk their dogs here and bring them to play and the city provides pet-waste bags and a water fountain for the humans AND the dogs lol. There is a leash law here - it's not a dog park - most people ignore it but be aware as I've seen it enforced occasionally.

It is mostly paved walkways and a sandy road, for you to walk through. The trail itself is about 3.3 miles long, but honestly...only the first mile and a quarter is worth the walk. It is very dry or desert-like in the middle. There's not much to see in between that stretch. And your foot and knees will hurt walking on the paved walkways. There's also many cracks and raises along the path, so may be challenging for anyone with mobility or may need wheelchair access. Street parking mostly and as of the time of this post, the sidewalk entrance is closed, so just walk through the grass.

We did find street parking easily so it wasn't bad. It is right next to the YMCA. Pretty impressed how big the playground is and so much to do from swings to slides to things to climb. The kids had a blast.
