Love the creaminess of its ice cream yet not too sweet compare to ice creams that I've had in the country where I live, Canada. The back patio's scenery of Maas river was so calming. Watching the view boats or ships go by as this Maas River connected the Netherlands and Germany. Due to its location where it's very closed to Germany's border, I noticed lots customers speak German. This Clevers in Arcen was actually the second location of Clevers that I visited in the NL. First was the one in Overloon, Noord Brabant province. I'll definitely be back to this location when I visit the Netherlands again. Yummy ice cream and great ambience!

I really enjoyed this little old dessert shop, which was right around the corner from our hotel…read more(Hotel Indigo). Service was friendly and welcoming despite my limited German language skills. There were a few other guests there, just sharing a gelato or small cup of coffee. I got one scoop of the Gianduia flavor gelato (hazelnut and chocolate-- similar to Nutella) in a waffle cone and it was the perfect way to end the evening.

It is run by a pair of brothers, one a bit chubbier and more jovial, and th eother skinny and a bit more stern faced. It seems like the skinnier brother si the mastermind behind mixing thier ice cream. They make it on premises with machines that are real old school. Vanilla is nothing more than milk, sugar, vanilla bean and eggs,a nd it is smooth and perfectyou can tell they use purer and better ingredients than anyone else. The decor could be considered in need of updating, but i like the neighbourhood cafe charm of the place. I go there at any opportunity, and their vanilla is the most vanillaish I ever had, their chocolate is the darkest and smoothest, their version of straciatella is called Granatella has the msot chocoalate chunks you could imagine,a dn their creation Torrone, whcih is basically the ingredients in the Toblerone Chocolate melts in your mouth. I am not the biggest fan of thier fruit flavoured ice creams, but the milk and chocolate ones are easily the best available.

The toppings are fresh fruit and the staple chocolates and nuts, but the sauces are the real deal. My favorite was the mango one. I also tried the chocolate version which was alright. I've now been twice and have gotten Waldmeister flavor, stracciatella, Himmel blau, and Eierlikör - and by far the stracciatella is the best. Each flavor is very creamy and refreshing but the bubble gum (Himmel blau) is a little too sweet and not super bubble gum flavored. The Waldmeister is really good and for those who have no idea what that is - it's an herb called woodruff and the flavor is really popular here in Germany (in beers, ice pops, ice cream -everywhere. Definitely taste it at least - it's sort of like a citrusy flavor with something extra woodruffy in it. Idk it's hard to describe. The Eierlikör is similar to southern frozen custard but it was nothing special - glorified vanilla maybe. They're pretty creative on presentation as shown by my photos. Though the scoops are pretty pricey. Compared to US creameries like three twins, salt and straw, and roses it's sort of a let down. Worth visiting if you need a cold treat though!
