Later decided to give her office a call and just try her out. They were so accommodating! Dr. Weinstein came early at 8:30am to squeeze me in on her booked up day and we were impressed. She is the quiet kind not really chatty but she answered all of our questions thoroughly and was really patient with us. I am almost ready to give birth now and I am hoping that she will be there to deliver my baby boy. She has been amazing and supportive through out the process. We had a few issues during our 2nd trimester, this doctor always made sure to call us and talk to us after every "specialist" visits. It meant a lot to us because it was a difficult time in our life. She made sure all the test were done and no stone was left unturned. I am happy to say it was all a false scare and everything is fine. I will always be grateful to this doctor for being there for my family.. also a plus the wait time is never that long. I hope there are more doctors out there like her. Her staff is also wonderful especially the nurse!

Dr. Amsterdam is incredible--she's extremely professional, friendly, and patiently answers all of my questions during appointments. The office is conveniently located right by the 6 train and although the waiting room is small and a little loud (you're seated right across from the receptionists), I've never waited more than 10 minutes for an appointment and I'm always out of the office in about 30-40 min. Dr. Amsterdam always delivers my blood test results within a few days via an online patient portal and also communicates with patients directly via the portal so you can login and ask her questions without having to call the office. She's also helpful with referrals--actually calling me herself to provide me with the names and numbers of specialists to see. I highly recommend her if you need a new primary care physician!

But her leadership is the reason the place is falling apart because she may not be taking the time to assess, nor, observe, or maybe she does not care which she has proven to me when we last spoke just recently. I guess the prestige of this hospital is the reason why this Director is so arrogant that she forgotten why she is there. I guess the perspective to save lives is not within her reach anymore. That is the reason the workers in the reception area is so rude is because they lack tact in their Leadership with Dr. Nina Priven. I have been a patient of Dr. Abroon for many years and at every appointment he greets me with a…read moresmile and warm hello! Dr. Abroon has all the qualities that are important to me in building a healthy doctor/patient relationship! At the top of my list is that Dr. Abroon is a good listener. He never rushes my appointment and always addresses my concerns, thoughts, opinions and viewpoint. For example, Dr. Abroon will take the time to read an article I clipped from a health newsletter on a subject I felt was pertinent to my care. Dr. Abroon is very knowledgeable, concerned for my well-being, will make referrals when necessary and follow up on my reports. Dr. Abroon is empathetic, compassionate and caring. The staff is always cheerful, efficient and polite. There are times I forget to mention something at my appointment and get upset with myself. But, I feel comfortable calling the office when I get home. I know that Dr. Abroon will return my call and with his calming voice say, "Alice, how are you? How can I help you?" These are the qualities that are important to me!

I was fired as a new patient for asking a question…read more I made a new patient appointment with Dr. John Abroon's office. My appointment was accepted and subsequently confirmed. A few hours after confirmation, as a matter of simple diligence, I reviewed Dr. Abroon's credentials as listed on-line and I called his office with a question. According to several published reports, Dr. Abroon graduated from the University of C.I.F.A.S. School of Medicine in the Dominican Republic. The school was closed by local officials in 1984 due to allegations of fraudulent medical degrees. These allegations were documented by the New York Times and other periodicals and were noted by the State of California. My question to the office concerned this chronology and the history of the institution from which Dr. Abroon graduated. I made no allegation that he was involved in the scandal or that his degree was invalid. I just asked since, in the world in which we live, patient self-advocacy is becoming increasingly important. After my question, the office called back and informed me that the Doctor no longer felt I would be a good fit for his practice. I asked to speak with the doctor so I could better understand, but after several attempts, I have given up. Again, in no way do I allege anything about the validity of Dr. Abroon's credentials. I just had what seemed like a very valid question - that frankly - any new patient should ask. It is unfortunate that rather than quell a patient's concern, I was dismissed for even daring to question.

Just updating my 6 year old review. Dr. Rackoff has now literally saved my life multiple times…read more When i originally saw her in 2018, I could barely walk, was in terrible pain and had been on 20-40mg of prednisone for over a year. Two previous Rheumatologists had been unable to help me. One of them, a renowned older male physician, treated me with disgust and distain, blaming my RA on my weight (which had ballooned due to the prednisone.) Suffice to say I was devastated and desperate and felt like my illness was my fault. When I met Dr. Rackoff in May of 2018, she came in early (7am) to see me because my internist had asked for an urgent evaluation. This person I met was kind, committed to helping me, and thorough. First, before she looked at my records, she just talked to me, with deep kindness. She could tell I was in bad shape and in pain. She laid her hand on my knee and infused me with hope. She had touched me with kindness, not disgust. After having been, throughout my life, treated so disdainfully, and sometimes berated and blamed for my condition due to my weight, she said nothing. I asked her point blank if this was my fault, and she was surprised and said absolutely not. My god, I had found someone who saw me, and would help. Subsequently, she weaned me off prednisone thus helping me lose 90lbs, and treated my RA thereby changing my life. Concurrently, she disagreed with my cardiologists that my heart murmur was just that, ordered a battery of tests and had me evaluated by Dr. Mark Sherrid, head of the HCM program. Dr. Sherrid and Dr. Massera diagnosed my (unknown to me) genetic heart condition (which had killed my father, but had not been disclosed to his children.) I underwent an Alcohol Septal Ablation on 1/31/2020, one week before Covid began to overtake hospitals and we needlessly lost so many. Even throughout the Covid years she continued to render unbelievably attentive care during that crisis. So much so that a year later she found Thyroid cancer and in June of 2021, I had a thyroidectomy. In addition, EVERY colleague she sent me to was warm and caring whether at NYU, Cornell Weil, or in private practice. Not one of them was dismissive or blamed my issue on me. WOW. It's now been 7 years since i started with Dr. Rackoff who has saved me multiple times and changed my life. I am a work in progress who is amazed on a daily basis that this treasure has come into my life. I don't know how she renders this level of care, and still has other patients, and I am consistently amazed that aside from her regular patients, she carves out time multiple times per year to fly abroad and render care in war torn countries, or wherever urgent help is required. Dr. Rackoff heeded a call to serve, and she does for me, and so many others. This healer, is an angel who walks among us.
