I have seen doctors on base here at Eglin for over 20 years. I have had 2 Total Knee Replacements. I get my annual Mammograms and I've had multiple visits to the ER over the years. I have always been happy with the care I've received. I feel like I receive better care than off base. I'd recommend Eglin AFB Medical clinic and hospital to anyone who I is a base i.d. holder! read more

The case manager is very insufficient in the pediatric department. Do not help with the facilitation of the service. Specific the pediatric department and my kid is Autistic, making the services to receive impossible with the go around in circle all the time and not giving me the RX need it. read more

My family is now in the retired category and my first available appt as a Tricare Prime retiree (dependent) is an entire month and a half out. I am definitely switching to select even though I'll have copays. This hospital sucks, and the the people making appts are active duty so they have an "I don't care" attitude. read more

I have unfortunately had been ill on three separate occasions and have gone to Eglin Hospital Emergency Room. I am always so impressed with the attentive care, compassion, and efficiency the hospital is. My first experience was due to having chest pain: Turned out to be anxiety, and a little stress and acid reflex.... the staff took my chest pain concerns seriously, ensured I was comfortable, and immediately started to rule out serious causes such as a heart malfunction. Despite the diagnosis the team of professionals were very thoughtful and supportive. My Second experience was due to having positional dizziness. I went to the ER, was taken back just as abruptly as the first time, and test were being conducted the moment my butt hit the gurney. Come to find out I had positional vertigo. Went home with some medication, and some 'exercises' and weeks later much improvement. Third time- as they say is always the charmer- I went in with coughing and shortness of breath after getting a cold 4 days ago. Again, I was immediately taken back, hooked up, assessed and taken to X-Ray with medication in hand, and returned to a breathing treatment waiting for me. I had a little crisis with my heart beating away, increased shortness of breath and high blood pressure. Nurses, techs, a paramedic and the doctor were all very kind and patient. They were alert to the concerns and my needs and request. They Were helpful "calming me down" as I was having a panic attack at this point. I was in and out with my Pneumonia diagnoses within one hour back home, with all my meds! The hospital is clean, bathrooms well maintained, the staff are wonderful- they are serious when need to be, Will joke when you joke, and will comfort you when your scared nervous, and anxious. Now, let's hope I don't have to see them again anytime soon! But, if I did I know I can trust in them with my urgent healthcare needs. This hospital during our time while here at Eglin has been wonderful. To me, and my husband. I am very grateful for the care, compassion, and treatment received at Eglin. I will continue to use Eglin Hospital and ha e complete trust in them when it comes to my healthcare needs. Thank you all! read more

Appointment is a month and a half out. I hate it and I have the clap and it's been burning

While visiting the 96th MED Group today I had a horrible experience in your hospital today. Came in , I currently have 2 services dogs. One is 14 years old and about to be retired and the other is in training, I'm polishing up her training and getting ready to retire the old man. I had been in your hospital without incident until, for approximately an hour. I went to leave the premises. As I was walking out the E.R. entrance I suddenly heard about 20 or so people right behind me. I'm a disabled Vet with P.T.S.D. I flattened against the nearest wall to wait for everyone to clear out. I don't feel safe with strangers to my back. Ad I started to step towards the exit to leave once it cleared up. I was THEN STOPPED by Contractor Lori Batiste, from Patient Advocacy/Red Cross and challenged about the S.D.'s. Then, in full public space started demanding to know why I was there, what I was doing, etc...H.I.P.P.A. mean anything to you? Becuase I sure don't like discussing my medical needs in public with someone that's not a healthcare provider. This was all witnessed by another person who will also be filing an I.C.E. complaint as well. Thankfully I'm D.D.-214 free so I don't HAVE to use your hospital and now I most certainly will not. I'd rather die then come to your hospital becuase your staff is that ignorant and stopped ALL OVER my rights. If you need to, Google Federal Servoce Dog Laws as well as Floroda Statue 413.08. Neither of them defines a quantity, DOES NOT requires the dogs to be vested or registered AND a trainer with a S.D. in training has full and equal rights as to frequent common places. Oh, I'm also a dog trainer, specializing in Service Dog training.....so for all she could have known I was training another dog for another disabled person. Sometimes I have 3 or 4 when they've met the A.K.C. Good Canine Citizenship Award, I have to bring them into public for training purposes. I digress, I did not appreciate being stopped by a contractor with no authority over me and demanding to know my reasons for being at the Hospital. read more

Yes, I know! It's a military hospital but depending on who your nurses are, this place took great care of me. Hubby and I felt confident during our high-risk pregnancy with the OB clinic and the Labor and Delivery Unit who went 'above and beyond' to welcome our baby boy. I hated the techs who bruised my arms from failing to get my IV line in. That was my only complaint. My nurses took such great care of me and hubby. Sometimes they would give him an unwanted meal plate from the dining cafe. So sweet! They constantly checked in on me and were very patient. I live that our OB doctor got to catch our baby. After delivery we were transferred to the recovery room, where we stayed for two days to fully recover. Nurses let us sleep at night and came right away when I buzzed. I also loved that they let me have my doula with me during my entire labor. read more

If you can aviod the er..omg. they suck.. It would take too much time to tell you how bad they suck.. dont expect help during lunch time..they will be busy figuring out what there going to eat for lunch..and when you tell them they suck..they will call security ..l Emergency room= wait and die in a room.. Now..the other units are steller! The msu took great care of ny wife after the er dropped the ball...they were awsome! Labs ..pharmacy ..x ray..family heath..ect... keep up the great work..! Five Star Rating On October 8th 2018, only hours before hurricane Michael made landfall, I was writhing in pain that sent me to the emergency room. A cat scan revealed a large kidney stone that required removal. A shot of morphine relieved my excruciating pain. I was told my options and released. My wife and I were there on vacation and dependent of the kindness of strangers. I could not have received better care from my doctor or any civilian medical facility. Medical records and radiology expeditiously provided my records to take home to my doctor. Thanks to them, I didn't have to start from scratch when I got home. Nurse sour puss has been horrible every time I have come in until I finally went off and let her know that she has a piss poor attitude and that she needs to switch careers. If you can go to the ER anywhere else, avoid this place. The OB part of my care so far has been great but I will NEVER use them for ER. read more

It's a military hospital under construction, nothing amazing about it other than you have to walk around to different elevators to get the same floor but opposite side since construction has cut off all direct hallways for easier walking access. It has everything a regular hospital could have including emergency room and drug dispensing pharmacy. Hoorah! read more

This review is only pertaining to the OB department. Once you can bring your pregnancy proof they automatically enroll you into an orientation class. It was super helpful and they even inform you of what to do if you would prefer switching to standard to be seen off post. So far so good and I have lots of literature to look over after leaving the hour and a half class. read more

I had the most outstanding experience in the ER. As a health care provider with 40 years in both military and civilian health care I must tell you I WAS IMPRESSED!!! In and out in less then 30 minutes!! Wow!! Is the least I can say. Please keep up the Excellent work. As a retired mustang officer/past civilian hospital COO, I would love be to have this ER in my hospital! If it sounds like I'm a fan, I am!!! I've PAID for worse service in civilian hospitals then this! If the complainers/ER abusers had to go downtown and then PAY like everyone else in the world, maybe they would be a little more grateful!!! Thank You for what you do!!!! ER is terrible. The two people that check you in are great. Everything after that feels very unprofessional. It's seems they're almost annoyed that you're there or too busy for you. There is a patronizing kind of sarcastic vibe as they're asking / documenting your situation. You get the feel that they'd rather be anywhere than where they are; specifically socializing and cracking jokes with each other. They are not good with kids. All of my visits were for my children. #1. My 4 yr. old daughter fell off a chair and hit her head hard on the tile floor. I couldn't keep her awake and she could barely stand up. The triage nurse was determined to make her stand on the scale in order to get her weight. My daughter was crying for me to hold her and the nurse was just looking at us like, "Oh well, I've got all day...not moving forward till we get her weight." Eventually I started crying bcse. my daughter couldn't stand and was screaming and falling over for me to hold her. I told the nurse that my daughter was 37 lbs. ( she gets on the scale every morning after I do ) but she said "I have to get her exact weight." This went on and on; me trying to peel my daughter, with a concussion, off of me. The triage nurse had no empathy or concern for either of us. She just stood there, not helping and with a smirk on her face. It was really awful! I've never known anyone to act this way in a situation like this. Felt like I was in a bad dream. #2. Next, let's talk about the pregnant doctor, dark hair, glasses ( Prego in spring of 2015; don't recall the name ) this one's a real gem; bad attitude and dirty looks to boot. I took my son in for an infected bug bite on his leg. She looked at it briefly and prescribed an oral antibiotic. I questioned as to why it needed nothing "topical" and she looked at me and responded as if I should get off Google and quit trying to self diagnose. 10 days later it was even worse; like a hole eating into his leg! Took him to his regular doc. To follow up. He gave us an anti fungal cream "topical" and the spot was almost healed within 3 days. SMH #3. Took my 8 yr. old son in with a bad cough and tightness & pain in his chest. They took x-rays and diagnosed with pneumonia quickly. Sent us home with antibiotics. Came back for 5 day follow-up. Again...in with the snarky, prego doc. She listened to his lungs and said he's wheezing! Looking at me like how could I not know this? I said, "Oh...was he not wheezing before?" ( I was assuming it would have been remarked upon / documented if he was wheezing five days earlier or not, when initially diagnosed with pneumonia. ) I'm not a doctor but it seems to make sense to me. She looked at me with disgust and says, "I don't know if he was wheezing...I'm not the one that treated him." You will receive sub-standard care from people that are consistently rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Avoid if you can. Ft. Walton Beach ER is AWESOME! Gulf Breeze Baptist Medical Center is AWESOME! So sad that that this is what we've got to deal with for an ER for our military families. Note: other depts. are great! Pharmacy, OB, etc... Love them! It's as if the ER is infected by toxic personalities or something and they're all just sarcastic and pissed off ; can't quite put my finger on it. Hope this helps someone :) read more

Terrible if you are military retiree with Tricare Prime. Without going into detail, if have a lot of severe but non-life threatening medical problems. I am a recent retiree and finally received my VA disability rating of 90% which I'm pleased with as the VA diagnosed issues from complaints the clinic has yet to address or diagnose. It will be a long time before I can see the VA, and I'm sure you've heard complaints about the VA process, so I'm currently stuck with utilizing my Tricare. I have always been a fan and promoted how great military hospitals are while I was active duty. They have always treated me promptly and well. I have loved Wright-Patt, Anderson, Hickam, and Tripler Medical Centers. Now I live in Florida and am assigned to Eglin Medical Center. I haven't been harassing or tried to see my PCM a lot, but only for a few severe issues and the few times I have, I've had to wait a month or so to be seen. She has concurred with my issues and submitted referrals to specialist that the Tricare or Eglin referral office has consistently cancelled with no explanation other than "Please contact your PCM for an alternative route of treatment". So here I am again patiently waiting several weeks or so in pain to be seen. I am currently bed ridden for the last week awaiting another refferal that I recently received from their ER. I also have some recurring conditions that I have to be seen by a specialist every few months for prescription refills but can never get in without jumping through hoops. They always say they only have active duty slots available. They tell you to book as far out as you can, but when you call 5-6 weeks out, they don't have their schedule open that far out yet and if you wait until 1 month out, its too late. You must hope that you are fortunate enough to call on that mysterious mythical day when their next appointment schedule just opens up that they do have retiree slots available. I would switch to Tricare Standard so I can see an off base network provider, but with all of my conditions, it could end up costing me a lot out of pocket. So my only option is to stick with Tricare Prime and wait in pain forever to be seen or pay a lot out of pocket. read more

If I could rate this hospital with no stars I would. I had my son in 2014. Yes 2014 and the experience still haunts me. I was admitted around 6pm after my second attempt bc I was in so much pain(back labor). The nurse broke my water by 7am. I had epidural and was comfortable. My nurse was nice so there is no complaint there until she checked my cervix and told me I was complete. Unfortunately the doctor came in right after her and checked my cervix then told my nurse I wasn't complete by shaking her head no. The doctor had no interaction with me. After that I was told I may have to get a c-section. THIS WAS DEVASTATING! My first pregnancy and surgery and no one told me why I would be getting a c-section. So they prepped the O.R. and wheeled me in at this point my epidural was discontinued. Moments after being placed to the O.R table one of the nurses told me they have to put me back in my room bc the woman in the room next to me blood pressure dropped so they removed me from the O.R. and replaced me with another patient. At this point I'm feeling all the contractions and its noon my water was broken at 7am. I was in so much pain I called for a nurse and they ignored me! Literally ignored me never came in my room. My husband got frustrated and walked out of our room and began to yell at the nurses to get me in an O.R. they told him its occupied but he wasn't buying it, so they took me to another floor. While in the O.R. they transferred me from the gurnee to the O.R. table. I was vomiting and it was very painful for me to lay down on the table. I wanted to take a deep breath and take my time laying down...all of a sudden I hear one of the nurses or doctors yell at me "LAY DOWN FEMALE!!!" I am not active duty I am a spouse and lucky for her I was so much pain that I couldn't give her a piece of my mind. Post op the staff did not wrap my waist which is supposed to help with recovery. My first experience giving birth was traumatic and I hope they got their shit together. read more
