The building is really split into two sections of market place and restaurant, although as you can probably imagine the two co exist rather nicely. Indeed there is a lot that is rather nice at The Better Food Company. The well stocked supermarket, for starters, packs a firm punch in the line of sustainable, environmentally friendly products. From large vats, one can refill empty bottles with Ecover biodegradable washing up liquid. From equally large buckets and bins one can fill up bags with various teas, dried fruits and cereals. The selection of breads and biscuits is pleasantly extensive, catering for vegans, vegetarians and, like myself, those with wheat allergies. Indeed this is one of the few shops I have ever found where I can buy many gluten-free foods. If you know what I'm talking about I definitely recommend you come here. A short walk past the beautiful, hippy cashiers in multi coloured layers will bring you to the cafe restaurant. An inviting array of tables and chairs with an enormous people-watching window (you know who you are!) is often bustling busy. Mothers with children and prams, students and locals all flock here for the delicious home cooked, organic and quite affordable food. For many The Better Food Company can be quite the day out.

Catering to wealthy eco-lifestyle types, it carries a range of high end organic food, with particular nod to the excellent fresh bread selection. It sells all the things you'd expect from this sort of shop: soya milk and yoghurts, ecologically friendly home products, gluten-free pastas, etc, along with a very good booze section. There's not actually as much stock in the shop as you might expect from how large it looks from the outside; it's all very spread out. So while it gives the illusion of being a whopping superstore, it is more like an indoor market. Even so, you will absolutely find everything you're looking for, and you'll get a smile from the very helpful and knowledgable (I bet the training here is thorough!) staff.

This is one of the best charity shops on the city! It's great! It's like a jumble sale, but with…read morethings you would actually want. On the summer days, like today, they put boxes and racks of stock outside the front of the shop; making it feel like a garage sale. I challenge anyone to walk past on a day like today and not be forced to stop and have a look at the piles of stuff. It's a large charity shop as far as they go, with a huge variety of bits & pieces, like cameras and electronic goods to clothes, furniture and books. I already found a great old cannon camera I'm thinking about going back for tomorrow. The staff I met were all very young and will help you look for things that you can't find on the shop floor. They will also go and check the mountains of donations in the back room for you as well.

The shop has the most colourful display window I have ever seen and a mountain of cuddly toys at the front of the shop ensures that mothers will be dragged in by their children. Most charity shops have racks of clothes to browse but this charity shop makes the whole process so much easier. The shop is divided into colours -an orange rack, a green rack, a yellow rack etc. Shirts, trousers, skirts and dresses of the same colour are held together which is extremely useful, especially if looking for a particular colour for fancy dress or for a top to match your new shoes. I definitely recommend this brilliant rainbow shop!
