I was staying with friends in the village of Huizen and they swear by this place so I decided to relax and enjoy the experience. First, this place is an authentic Dutch pub which you can appreciate everywhere from the outside all the way to its interior decoration and reach history hanging on the walls. After enjoying a cold beer we were seated in our table and proceed to look at the menu. Needless to say, My friends had to translate everything for me from the appetizers to the dessert. After discussion the options on the menu and the seasonal specials, I went with a white asparagus soup and a special cute of veal accompanied by mushrooms sauce and veggies. Well, let me tell you something; one of the best meals I had during my stay. Everything from the bread to the deserts was not only fresh but heavenly delicious. White asparagus were on season and the soup was a must! The meat, juicy and tender and cooked to perfection. Lastly, since we all asked for different sauces, I got the change to try everything from pepper to blue cheese. Omg! This place left me speechless. Never judge a book by its cover and trust the locals; they know better!

The waiter knew our name and saved the best table in the corner since we made a reservation. Spacious lounge atmosphere, as tables are at the sides and they left the central space open. We already had a drink and appetizer somewhere else, so went for a light dinner of two courses. I went for a steak tartare first, cause we ordered a nice red wine. Then I had gamba's with banana, yes! Very surprising combination I would really recommend. My company had the risotto, which was very tasty as well and the burger I will definitely try next time. Especially in summer, when the sun is shining it is really nice to sit outside on the terrace. If you are by public transportation, the train station is not too far away. However, make sure that you do time your walk to the station correctly, otherwise you will miss the connection and will have to wait for quite some time at the station (or walk to the main station of Hilversum )
