Since obtaining this new doctor we've requested the medical records from this doctor since June 19, 2023. They have failed to provide the records for both of our children. In calling their front desk the women who answers the phone was extremely contentious and avoided taking any action. The doctor ended up responding with a threatening email (see enclosed) stating we need to pay her office $50 to release the records. Keep in mind we never gave our previous doctor's office the authorization to give these records to this office. They are violation of California state law. They are bullies. I wouldn't trust them with the care of my children. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS OFFICE OPERATES OUT OF PROFIT.

My concerns started before the procedure when I was told the anesthesia was not typically covered by insurance and that I would need to pay $500 out of pocket. I later found out my insurance did cover it. His anesthesiologist just didn't take my insurance. While I should have verified this myself, I felt the information provided was inaccurate. After the procedure, Dr. Davidson called with my results and said everything looked good. I mentioned that I was still experiencing a sour, acidic feeling in my upper stomach, but I felt my concerns were dismissed. When I asked again, his response came across as irritated rather than helpful. I was also disappointed by the billing. I received a charge for an "office visit" for the brief five-minute results call. When I questioned it, I found it was coded as a complex office visit that typically lasts over 45 minutes, which did not seem appropriate. After I challenged the charge, it was removed. Although the procedure itself went well, the follow-up care, communication, and billing experience left me disappointed. I will not be returning.

Dr. Shafipour is absolutely amazing. He is extremely easy to connect with when you are having a problem and is the kind of doctor you can only dream of having. I have not felt well for many years and it has never been diagnosed so I am constantly bugging him for suggestions as to whom to see next. He is extremely patient with me and does his utmost to find answers. He once said he likes to treat his patients as he would like to be treated. Well he would certainly be treated well. Dr. Uyeki does not take United Health Care Insurance anymore even though UHC's website for 2019…read moresays that he is in Network for 2019. The Dr. says that they have not been with UHC for years but UHC says otherwise. This doctor is very selective about the types of insurance he accepts, and the plans in each insurance company he accepts so before coming here I would first call the insurance company to confirm and then double confirm with Dr. Uyeki's office. This can change year by year so always check each Jan 1 as doctors dip in and out of insurance networks. This Office is closed on Thursdays. They speak fluent Japanese here and that clientele makes up a large part of their practice. This Dr. also does not do x-rays in office anymore but does do blood draws and then sends them out. He used to take blood and x-rays and develop them in office--no more. On my most recent annual exam in 2018 on a Friday, he called me the next day on a Saturday to say all the blood results are okay that he had results on before all were completed. By the following Monday the rest of the results were in but he did not call again to say those were okay--I suspect because there was no problem. But after looking after all the results I saw that one test was not ordered that usually is every year (PSA) so I called the office to report that and they got it tested that week. He did not call on that result, I guess because it was okay. The long and short is that with the way medicine is practiced in Los Angeles for years and the influence of Insurance Companies--you need to be very proactive and keep records to compare on your own. The blood draws here are professional and leave no mark. You have to pay for parking in this building. The staff is pleasant. If you don't have insurance, they do take cash--call and ask them for a quote. This office is part of Cedar Sinai and if they refer you it will most likely be to a Cedar doctor.

Based on my annual checkup, my general practitioner had noticed a very slightly positive result for autoimmune disease, so she recommended I go to a rheumatologist to get tested just in case. The copay was $73 (there's no fee if you pay with cash - I don't go to doctors often but I've never heard of a cash discount at one). The staff and doctors are super nice, and it's a nice building. It's adjacent to Culver City, after all. We reviewed my results in-person at the next appointment a couple weeks later. There was nothing indicating I had an autoimmune disease and basically no concerns because I wasn't displaying any symptoms, but they had me book another appointment. I honestly didn't know what I was going for (mentioning again that I don't really go to doctors because don't really have symptoms), but since I wasn't charged for the results appointment for visit #2, I just went with it. For this third appointment, I had to pay another $73 copay and I did bloodwork again. I was given my results over the phone this time. And then a fourth appointment was scheduled for a few months later. However, I've finally realized that they'll just keep scheduling appointments, have me pay these copays as well as Labcorp who interprets the bloodwork, probably until forever. Even though again, *I am not displaying any symptoms." It wasn't until my friend who actually has an autoimmune disease was like, "Why are you going? I literally only go when I have symptoms." So like I said in the beginning - I'm sure it's a great place if you actually need to go because you're experiencing pain, discomfort, and other symptoms. But if you're generally healthy and the only suggestions they have for you are to take Vitamin D and K12 pills, consume more Vitamin C, and ice your knee after you workout if you feel any slight pain, then you're probably good to sit this out. Also want to note that even if you make an appointment, you could be sitting for 45 minutes. I'll never understand that about doctor appointments. If you're 10 minutes late, it's a huge deal. But if you arrive on time and then you sit for 30+ minutes, it's just accepted. So in terms of parking pro-tips - there's parking across Venice in the neighborhoods and the parking garage a block away gives you one hour free. But again, that can be risky since the wait time is unpredictable.
