    Charming Edwin.
    Louisa M.

I visited this shop as part of a foodie tour of Paris. Because of that, we had personalized attention from the chocolatier himself, Edwin Yansané. Edwin is a curious personality, very charming and sly, but he takes his chocolates very seriously. Edwin asked us all sorts of personal questions and then paired one of his chocolates to our personalities (I am not making this up). The chocolates are very small, quite expensive, and absolutely beautiful. These aren't your everyday plain chocolates: most are infused with unexpected flavors and spices like star anise, curry, and wasabi. There are traditional flavors too, like creamy chocolates with caramel, hazelnuts, or almonds. The shop is very small and the staff a bit aloof, but this is France after all. They take credit cards and sell all sorts of prepackaged candies and sauces too. Nothing I sampled here was Earth-shattering and it was far from the best chocolate I've ever had (that distinction goes to Dumon in Bruges, Belgium), but this place is worth a stop if you are a foodie fan of celebrity chefs and tasty candy.

This is a very nice chocolatier located in the Marais area. The staff was extremely helpful and let me sample the various chocolates prior to purchasing. The prices were great compared to what I've seen at other chocolatiers. I purchased a box of the citron flavored chocolates and various bars. I do feel the citron chocolates were inconsistent in that some of them had a stronger lemon taste than others (which I preferred). Other than that, I was very satisfied with my purchase and this will definitely be a stop on my next visit to Paris.

Try try try the spicy dark chocolate with curry and cumin mix!! Perfect blend of spicy and flavor that mellows out with dark chocoate! Great explanations also in English as well!

If you desire some of the best chocolate in Paris, you must visit Edwart Chocolatier. Edwin is a wonderful shop owner and makes amazing chocolates. The flavors used will surprise you in such a wonderful way. He grows his own ingredients and uses nothing but the finest. Try it, your pallet will thank you. And ladies (and gentlemen too!), Edwin is pretty nice to look at as well. :)

Delicious artisanal chocolates. Worth every calorie ingested. We bought some for gifts and ate the rest ourselves

This spot at the Carrousel du Louvre is a full service shop that gives out samples and allows you to build a box rather than just grab a premade assortment from a kiosk. I say this because we walked all over on our last day (wanting to make our own boxes) so we found out where the full-service shops were. The people who work here are very patient and kind while you make your selections. And of course, it's fun to sample the decadent merchandise. I highly recommend the Maracuja (dark chocolate w/ passionfruit pulp ) or the Salvador (dark chocolate ganache w/raspberry pulp). We made the mistake of turning our kids into chocaholics so we had to pay the price and bring them both home a box. Couldn't forget one for ourselves either. Each box comes with a handy picture guide so you can identify the merchandise. Or just pop one in your mouth and be happily surprised.

The BEST!!!!!! Oh…read moreman! I will start by saying that I don't even like macaroons in the United States. They are just dry and nasty most of the time lol But in Paris, I decided to give them a try! And I am glad I did. They tasted so good! Seriously, they were delightful little treats. The inside of the macaroons was moist and flavorful, while the outside had a nice firm texture. So good! I almost ate an entire dozen of those by myself! lol My fiancé was not super motivated to try one (probably because they suck in the US), and I kept telling him how good they are. Finally, he tried one and was shocked at how good it was too! They are not cheap. But worth it for a decent macaroon. I can't eat macaroons in the states now lol Ruined me for life. lol

This chocolate boutique was founded in the 80s by Patrice Chapon, once an ice cream purveyor for Buckingham Palace. Since then, he introduced his now-famed bar a mousse concept, allowing chocolate enthusiasts to sample made-in-house varieties of mousse sourced from cocoa beans across the world. I first visited a Chapon outpost on a quiet side street of Saint-Germain-des-Pres. You might miss the narrow storefront and brown awning on first glance, but melon-sized bowls of mousse in the window are unmistakable. The interior is warmly lit, featuring tastefully worn wood motifs. The backlit shelves to the right are curated with prepackaged confections, while the display to the left is decked with à la carte chocolates. We arrived for an early afternoon treat, and the friendly service patiently talked us through and offered samples of multiple mousse varieties. My favorite was the Equadorian, a dark, full-bodied flavor with some floral notes. I also enjoyed my sister's Madagascar, which had a thickness and richness reminiscent of caramel. My mother opted for the lighter, fluffier Peruvian, which was nearly the consistency of meringue. Lastly, the 100% dark Venezuelan had the thickest texture; however, the red wine-y flavor might turn some off. While the mousse is delicious, the prices might be harder to swallow; our 3 small portions ran over 20 euros. Nonetheless, I was impressed by the staff's ability to suggest an ideal mousse to suit each of our preferences. For a unique experience and a mousse that is sure to impress, don't miss out on Chapon.

Pierre Hermé If you…read moreknow Pierre Hermé from social media and all the viral videos, then this review needs no introduction. But if you haven't, this is a strong contender for worthy macarons in Paris and at a convenient location across the street from Ladurée. Located inside L'Occitane in the most gorgeous floor space ever, you will find Pierre Hermé at the center of it all. They have an impressive array of flavors that were much more unique than other patisseries. I definitely asked for a few recommendations as well since I tend to order the same thing (pistachio, raspberry, lemon, etc.) The workers were very kind. They indulged my request to converse in French and corrected me in a respectful and endearing way (I know some people get upset at this idea but I personally prefer it.) I had ordered a dozen macarons but truthfully would've ordered the entire lot if I wasn't alone and especially if I wasn't already taking a ton of sweets back for my flight home. I am a Ladurée purist and what I can say is that Pierre Hermé definitely had the best and most unique flavors compared to the two. The prices are fairly comparable and the coffrets are just as tasteful. Both are strong contenders and worthy of your money. I certainly will be returning and look forward to trying the rest of their selection. (15/50--2025)

Pierre Hermé is home to some of the best macarons I've had in my life -- which is probably too many for the good of my health -- and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the macarons, the staff's attention to detail, and all the unique flavors this shop had to offer. As a popular macaron shop in one of the hottest tourist destinations in Paris, this location is undeniably crowded. There's usually a huge line circling around a central display of macaron after macaron. The line looks pretty intimidating, but it moves quite quickly, and there are so many flavors that it'll probably be helpful to have a bit of extra time to review the menu. My friend and I split a pack of four macarons, including their seasonal isapahan (rose, lychee, raspberry), infiniment praliné pistache, and a jardin de cassandre (red currant, rhubarb). The macarons were delightful. I loved the two seasonal items; they were delightfully fruity and slightly floral, and I loved the slightly tangy flavor from the raspberry in the isapahan and rhubarb / currants in the jardin de cassandre. The praliné pistache was nice and nutty, and the inner cream offered a great additional richness. It's usually super crowded so seating tends to be quite limited. My friend and I ended up taking our macarons to go and enjoyed them elsewhere as we toured Champs Elysée.
