I cannot believe how many times I have driven through Wadesboro and never even knew this…read morerestaurant/butcher/convenient store existed. It is only a few miles off of 74, so a very short detour for a very delicious reward. I ordered a hot dog and sat at the community table and waited patiently. My order did not come quickly because all orders are made with care and there were multiple large orders to go ahead of me. When my order finally arrived, my hot dog was the first hot dog I have ever received that truly had extra mustard, as requested and the french fries were generous and piping hot. I mean burn your fingers hot. A customer told me that they grind their hamburger meat and make the sausage. This will be a stop every trip to the beach both ways. If you are searching restaurants in Wadesboro this is worth visiting and frankly worth driving from Charlotte just to try. Bring a cooler to take home some delicious steaks and sausage.

Rayfield Meat Center was where I picked for lunch in Anson County. It was a memorable experience…read morewith very friendly service. Rayfield Meat Center is a combination of a convenience store, restaurant and meat counter and cut it how you like. I met quite a few people ordering meats and was told it was the best in the area. It is a local hole in the wall, my favorite type of place to shop and dine. There is a small area to eat in the front of the store with all the condiments you could want and when I left saw more tables outside. I ordered the cheeseburger special that came with mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise on it. It came with a cup of fries and a humongous-sized sweet tea. I don't remember what I paid but I don't think it was much. The burger was delicious and was very thick, so they didn't skimp on the portion. If you are in Wadesboro, make sure to stop at Rayfield Meat Center.

They have lots of old time favorite beverages along with a few new ones all in bottles, cans, or glass. They have fresh fish, not very big, but a wide selection. If you want they will cook the fish for you, so you don't have to cook them at home. Burgers are amazing, fish, oyster, and other choices with or without fries are available too. Ask if you must, if they have any home made cake. Cake is sold by the slice. I took mine to go and enjoyed it later. I had the strawberry shortcake which along with my Teal Burger were definitely a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. The ketchup bottle and other table condiments were a little sticky, but I easily overlooked them as the food was the best.

Prices are fair for what you get. My one real gripe is that everything skews very sweet. I ordered a peach iced tea and specifically asked for sugar free, and what I got was closer to syrup than tea. If you like your desserts and drinks on the sweet side, you'll be thrilled. If you don't, order carefully and maybe stick to a single scoop. Worth the stop for the roadside kitsch and the produce alone.
