I have an AirTouch technique in my hair, and since the salon does not offer AirTouch services, I wanted to confirm in advance that we could achieve a similar look using balayage or highlights. I was assured we could proceed. At the appointment, I waited a bit (which I understand happens in Miami). Once seated, the stylist examined my hair carefully and suggested doing a half head of highlights first to see how my fine, chemically damaged hair would react. I appreciated the caution and explained my previous negative experience with another stylist. When I left the salon, I was happy. The result wasn't identical to my inspiration photos, but I felt good about it. However, after washing my hair once, I noticed obvious orange foil spots and poorly blended areas near my ears. I immediately contacted the salon, and to their credit, they accommodated me the next day for a correction. Unfortunately, the solution offered was to darken my roots to cover the orange spots. This left me questioning why I paid $450 to lighten my roots, only to have them darkened again. Now, just a little over two weeks later, my hair already looks grown out because of the darker roots. For the price point and reputation of this salon, I expected better execution and a longer-lasting result. I truly wanted to love the experience, but overall, I'm very disappointed.

Specifically stated, both on the phone AND in text, that I wanted "either waves and half up/half down, or a simple up do, like a low bun". I was told that was fine. I was under the impression that BOTH a makeup artist and a hair stylist would be at the salon. I was texted the day prior, to confirm my appt. The appt. time they texted me was wrong (10 am instead of 2 pm), but then said it wouldn't be a problem to keep my original time I had booked. The owner of the salon is who did my makeup. She was friendly, and didn't oblige to fixing anything I had asked (eyebrows were uneven, lip liner was 10 shades darker than the lipstick, etc). I would rate the makeup 3/5 stars, if you need your makeup done in a crunch, I wouldn't not go here. Now comes the part that received 0/5 stars, the hair. The lady "doing hair" blow dried my already dry hair (AHHH BREAKAGE). She then proceeded to put curlers in for 0.5 seconds, and take them out immediately (not sure the point of that). She threw my hair back with a rubber band (an actual plastic rubber band), and after messing with it for a few minutes, said that "my hair was too thin to do a bun". Ok, I have had my hair done in a bun 10X for weddings, and have never heard this. After I mentioned that, she said "she only does waves, no up dos". WHAT!!! I was livid, I specifically asked about a low bun, and was told it could be done. By this point I realized this wasn't a hair stylist, maybe she was a friend of the owner who was "helping out", or needed cash, but she was NOT a hair stylist. In ANY sense of the word. After a mini panic attack, I agreed to do waves and half up/half down (no other option, apparently). Even this was a struggle for her. I had to show her how to put half up, and she managed to put the entire bottle of hairspray on my hair, and left every single Bobby pin showing. My hair was a mess. As it was evident I was frustrated, the owner had the nerve to come over and show me our text message conversation. As I pointed out, look, I even said "low bun", she said yes, but look, you also said simple. If a low bun isn't simple, I don't know what is. She didn't charge me for the hair, thankfully, but I just was very upset about my hair for an important wedding, and agitated with the response from the salon. Bottom line, if you need your hair done for an event, do NOT COME HERE!!! Save your $$, there are plenty of other places in Miami to get it done (and the other alternative of doing it yourself, is still better than coming here).
